00:00What if aliens exist, but the universe is already dead silent?
00:04There are over 100 billion galaxies. Each galaxy contains billions of stars.
00:09Around many of those stars, planets exist. Statistically,
00:13intelligent life should have appeared millions of times.
00:16Some civilizations should be millions of years, more advanced than us.
00:20They should have colonized entire galaxies. Their ships,
00:24signals, or machines should be everywhere. But when we look into space,
00:27we see nothing. No alien ships. No megastructures. No messages. Just silence.
00:34In 1950, physicist Enrico Fermi asked a simple but terrifying question.
00:39Where is everybody? This became known as the Fermi paradox.
00:44Maybe intelligent life always destroys itself, through war, technology, or its own progress,
00:50before reaching the stars. Or maybe something out there is hiding, watching, waiting,
00:55which means one possibility is true. We are either the first civilization to survive,
01:00or the last one left alive.
