00:33The summer I turned pretty has finally come to an end with the third season wrapping up just a few
00:37days ago.
00:37And like, you know, I don't know what I was expecting really, but man, I got, I got so much
00:41more than I bargained for.
00:42Like, if I could just summarize the entire season real quick, it's basically
00:48I made a video a few months ago about the very beginning of season three, and now the river man's
00:52come to collect.
00:53I watched the entire season front to back, so let's talk about it. Come along, kids. Let's take a walk.
00:57As per my last video, Belly found out that Jeremiah slept with someone else when they broke up for a
01:01couple weeks,
01:01and then she, of course, took offense to this because how come you don't process your feelings exactly the same
01:06way I do?
01:06But then they talk things out and get back together, and then, of course, this whole thing happened.

03:48And later on, they're all having dinner together after they do this, like, dedication thing for Jeremiah and Conrad's mom.
03:53And things just take, like, a crazy nosedive.

04:02Yeah, like, Belly's mom specifically is not having any of this nonsense, thank you very much.

04:24So this kind of sets up the bulk of the season where Belly and Jeremiah want to get married so,

04:32And I'll tell you right now, as someone who's been married, marriage changes nothing.
04:35All the same problems, the same highs and lows, all that is still gonna be there after the honeymoon.
04:39Except, actually, now you might feel even more trapped.
04:41Because, like, legally you can't just be like, oh, yeah, this isn't working anymore, goodbye.
04:45You know, it's like a whole process now.

05:06So as the season goes on, things go pretty much how you expect them to.
05:09The parents don't support any of this, and Belly and her mom get in a huge fight.

05:39So they're trying to plan out the wedding, but they have hardly any money and all between the two of

05:43And Jeremiah's trying to intern for his dad, but he kind of doesn't know anything about anything.
05:47And no one takes him seriously since he only got the job because his dad owns the company anyway.
05:50Like, it's like a whole thing.
05:54They're hazing me now.

06:02This season is a really interesting positioning of Conrad and Jeremiah.
06:05Like, season one, Conrad was one of those broody, emo, sad anime boys.
06:09Jeremiah was happy and fun because, you know, they're like 17 or whatever, right?
06:12But now that they're adults, though, like, Conrad has really come into his own and he's, like, way cooler now.
06:17And Jeremiah's whole, like, cowabunga dude personality is not exactly paying the bills, you know what I'm saying?
06:22Like, Conrad's grown up so much over this season, it's crazy.
06:25But, of course, he can't escape his true feelings for Belly, even after all these years.

06:31Yeah, no, only on special occasions.

06:41So, Belly is staying for the summer at the House and Cousins so that she can plan the wedding, which

06:47and Conrad ended up getting fired from his job at the hospital, so he flew down to stay at the
06:50House and Cousins.
06:51And thanks to the power of happenstance, he and Belly are now together in the House and Cousins, alone.

08:35Now, what ends up happening, just to kind of skip ahead a little bit here, is Jeremiah does one thing
08:39right at his job.
08:39And his dad's like, golly gee willikers, I guess you're not a total loser.
08:43And decides that if he and Belly are going to get married no matter what anyway, he might as well
08:46be a part of it.
08:47You know, you're really impressing me these days.
08:49Here at work and at home.
08:51I know Laurel's not happy about the wedding, but if your dad's set on it, you and Belly have my
08:57support.
08:58Let's have it at the club.
08:59However, while this is all happening, Belly is still at the house alone with Conrad and like, okay, everybody sit
09:04down.
09:05You're never going to believe this.
09:06But she might kind of sort of be starting to catch some feelings again for Conrad when he accidentally hurts
09:11his leg while surfing.
09:12Mm-hmm, ain't foolin' nobody.
09:14Ah!
09:18Hang on.
09:27Well, yeah, come on, dude.
09:28He's pulling out the wet bangs mega digi evolution.
09:31How's that even fair?
09:32And so finally, here we are, a couple days before the wedding.
09:34Everyone's finally on board.
09:36Belly's mom came around.
09:37Jeremiah's dad's paying for it.
09:38But things are just not quite right for Belly.
09:40Like, everything just feels so real and it's moving so fast.
09:42And like, of course she loves Jeremiah.
09:44But Conrad has bangs and feelings at the same time, okay?
09:47What's a girl supposed to do?
09:49So it's time for the bachelor-bachelorette parties and everyone's getting a little messy.
09:52Except Conrad, because he just like, doesn't do that anymore.
09:55Which like, hey man, respect.
09:56But after it's all over, Belly is supposed to meet Jeremiah at the beach for a special little rendezvous, you
10:00know what I'm saying?
10:01Mm-hmm.
10:02But Jeremiah is too wasted to do anything, as Belly knew he would be because it's Jeremiah.
10:06And guess who's there waiting for her instead?
10:08Jer cheated on you when he was in Cabo.

10:19Oh, sliding into third at the last second, Captain Adam's apple himself.
10:23Let's hear what kind of words of platonic encouragement he has to offer.

11:30But anyway, it's time for the rehearsal dinner and everyone's making speeches and saying a bunch of nice stuff about

11:34that they don't actually mean anyway.

11:43And from my dad, his optimism.
11:46And from Steven, nobody has a bigger heart than my big brother.
11:53But Belly knows that she can't keep what Conrad said a secret from Jeremiah.
11:56Because like a huge part of every problem that's ever happened in the show is because people keep secrets, right?

12:01I wanted to tell you sooner.

12:17And so, a long, long, emotionally exhausting story short,
12:20Jeremiah realizes that Belly will always love Conrad and it's never, ever gonna be just about him.
12:25Ever.
12:25And he realizes this because that's exactly what she tells him.
12:28I can't even say his name without you getting this look on your face.
12:31Jer.
12:32Even now, you can't stop thinking about him, can you?
12:34I need you to look at me.
12:36Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't still love him.
12:39Do you love him too?
12:41Yes.
12:41You know, like, it's 2025, okay?
12:44Just stay both of them.
12:45And so, ultimately, the wedding is canceled.
12:47The marriage is off.
12:47Jeremiah and Belly break up.
12:49Jeremiah hates Conrad.
12:50And here's where the show just really takes a crazy turn.
12:53Because now that the wedding is off and she's severed, like, all ties with Conrad and Jeremiah,
12:57she leaves her key to the cousin's house and just decides to go to Paris by herself.
13:00You know, forget all these dumb boys with their dumb low body fat and perfectly symmetrical faces and, like,
13:05I don't need facial hair to hide my weak chin.
13:24And so, Belly finds herself in Paris.
13:26Alone.
13:27No school.
13:27No anything.
13:28At first, she just wants to go home and, like, you know, maybe she and Jeremiah can work things out.
13:31Like, sure, her entire life back there totally sucks and it's completely ruined,
13:35but it's the kind of depressing disaster that she's familiar with.
13:37And that's way better than something new and scary.
13:39But then she makes a few friends and has a few little adventures and realizes that she could totally make
13:43this work if she just, you know, tried.
13:45Mom, I did...
13:47I did something really stupid.
13:50Tell me where you are and I'll come get you.
13:52Paris?
13:53I'm sorry.
13:55You what?
13:56And so, she just stays in Paris for months and months.
13:59She gets some jobs under the table.
14:00She's living in a crappy apartment with, like, 10 other people who all hate her because she's American.
14:04So, yeah, life's great.
14:05Hey, Mom.
14:06Happy Thanksgiving.
14:07Wish I could be with you guys.
14:09Um, I've just got so much going on with my new job and my apartment.
14:13Anyway, I gotta get started on my stuffing.
14:16I'm cooking for my roommates.
14:17Love you.
14:18Bye.
14:18Man, this is the longest tourist visa of all time.
14:21And so, three months go by.
14:22It's Thanksgiving.
14:23Belly's just starting to get her footing.
14:24A few more months go by.
14:25It's Christmas.
14:26Belly is being pursued by Interpol at this point, I assume.
14:29And she loves living in Paris.
14:30But, you know, it gets a little lonely around the holidays.
14:32Enter stage left.
14:33Totally platonic guy friend, Bonito.
14:35Got a fire.
14:37Got wine.
14:39And I've got that giant box of chocolates that Celine got me for Christmas.
14:44Okay, so what's your amazing plan then?
14:47Well, the streets are empty tonight.
14:49And I believe there's beauty in emptiness.
14:51Just like my soul.
14:52So, Belly decides to throw all caution to the wind and hop on this guy's Vespa and see where
14:56this little Paris adventure takes her.
14:57You know, and turns out it takes her right into his mouth.
14:59Boy, that's, uh, that, nope.
15:00Guys, that's, we gotta rewrite that one.
15:02Now, this whole time, Conrad's been writing her letters that she hasn't responded to.
15:06And Jeremiah's been kind of couch-serving for a while.
15:08First, it was with Steven and Taylor, who, of course, are back together.
15:11Why wouldn't they be?
15:12Actually, just a quick aside here, okay?
15:14But, like, real talk.
15:15Steven and Taylor are way more interesting characters who have a way better chemistry
15:18than anyone else.
15:19And, like, the actors themselves are way more believable and fun to watch on screen.
15:23Like, this show is about the wrong people, okay?
15:25What do you say we call it a night, Conrad?
15:28Get some rest.
15:30I don't need a babysitter, okay?
15:31I'm not a child.
15:32You have mustard all over your mouth.
15:34There's so, so, she's so rude to me.
15:37Isn't she rude?
15:38I think she's pretty perfect.
15:39Okay, all right.
15:40Let's just, let's not, let's, let's walk that one back.
15:42Anyway, so Conrad learns that Belly is staying in Paris indefinitely.
15:45She has a couple avenues for how to change and extends her visa.
15:48Her friend moved out and gave her her apartment.
15:50So, like, she has a steady job.
15:51She has a boyfriend, kinda.
15:52She has her own place now.
15:53But, of course, even after several months of no contact, he still can't get her out of his head.
15:58Okay, really, though?
15:59If you don't go, you might regret it forever.
16:02If you do go, you might regret it forever, too, but...
16:06Is this supposed to be helping?
16:08No.
16:12Doctor, help thyself.
16:14And so, following his heart, Conrad makes his way to Paris,
16:17so he can dramatically show up unannounced, now with fully torqued bang accessory.
16:21I literally never stopped thinking about you.
16:24Zip.
16:24I came to see you because I have really bad pattern recognition skills.
16:28And this brings us to the final episode of the entire show.
16:31So, Conrad shows up in Paris at Belly's apartment,
16:33which he knows the location of because she finally wrote him back one day.
16:38Belly.
16:43Conrad.
16:44Surprise.
16:46Surprise.
17:00Give me a hug.
17:01Come here, everybody.
17:02This is pretty much how it was when I was in high school and I tried to talk to literally
17:05anyone.
17:06Like, you know, it kind of messes with you when, like, everyone you talk to makes it very clear that
17:09they wish you weren't.
17:10Anyway, so, one thing leads to another, and Conrad ropes Belly into showing him around town,
17:14you know, all the sights and the fountains, and, like,
17:16oh, this is the best croissant in all of Paris, and it tastes exactly like every other croissant in Paris.
17:20Now, later on, Conrad and Belly head over to this, like, pre-birthday dinner thing that Belly's Parisian friends have
17:25set up for her.
17:25You know, Conrad,
17:42Okay, like, like, you walk into a room full of strangers and they're all like,
17:45Oh, you're that guy?
17:46Wow, we've heard literally everything about you.
17:48Okay, well, in that case, I'm just gonna go walk into the ocean now.
17:51Nice meeting you.
17:51Now, at this dinner, Conrad finds out that Belly and Bonito broke up, apparently,
17:55and so maybe he has a shot?
17:57You know, for a while,
17:59your letters kept me going.
18:00Whenever I was lonely or missed home,
18:04I just didn't read them.
18:10And so, after sharing a passionate night of making paper snowflakes together, I assume,
18:14things are, like, kind of weird now.
18:15What, uh, when's the next train?
18:18The first one's at, uh, five.
18:20Still get breakfast, and I would have plenty of time.
18:22No, I mean, I'm not really hungry, so.
18:26Yeah, you know, I'll just take the one at five a.m.
18:29Oh, hit it and quit it, Conklin.
18:31Strikes again.
18:39Hey there, big C.
18:41Thanks for the medium D.
18:42Anyway, gotta run.
18:43You can show yourself out, right?
18:46She's so cool.
18:48This all turns into a much bigger conversation they have about each other
18:51and their relationship before and now,
18:53and they just kind of put everything out there, you know?
18:55You're gonna love me anymore?
18:55I've always loved you.
18:58That's the problem.
18:59How are we supposed to know
19:00if we love each other because we want to
19:03and not because we were told to?
19:05What if you only love me
19:06because that's what your mom wanted
19:08and then your mom died?
19:09You know, it's about how their lives were always being driven
19:11by the should-haves and the maybes,
19:13and she feels like there was never any room left
19:15for the could-have-beens
19:16and the regrets of yesterday's why-did-is
19:18overruling the possibilities of tomorrow's wish-I-hads.
19:20And so she sends Conrad on his way
19:22because she has her own life now.
19:24She doesn't need to be tied down to Conrad,
19:25Jeremiah, the cousin's house, none of that.
19:27And that's where the show ends.
19:29Or it should have,
19:30but guess who belly chases down right after this?
19:35Is this he taken?
19:39Conrad,
19:41I choose you.
19:50You guys maybe want to sit down at least?
19:52And so at the very end of the show,
19:54belly chooses Conrad,
19:55and that's where the show actually ends.
19:57Which is so freaking stupid!
20:02And now we present to you,
20:04Alex getting irrationally upset about a cheesy romance show.
20:09I mean like, okay,
20:10so the entire show is about how belly's world is so small
20:12and she only knows these guys
20:14and they're like the only boys she's ever interacted with
20:16or whatever, right?
20:17She spends all three seasons like tennis ball bouncing between them,
20:19but like I said,
20:20the underlying foundation of everything
20:21is how this is the only life she's ever known, okay?
20:23And so finally,
20:24at the end of the show,
20:25she gets a taste of actual freedom.
20:27She's living in France,
20:28no family,
20:28no Conrad,
20:29Jeremiah,
20:30nothing.
20:30And she grows and learns
20:32and blossoms
20:32or whatever, right?
20:34Like she can speak French fluently,
20:35she figured all this out on her own,
20:36she's dating other guys,
20:37like look at how well she's doing.
20:38You see this bob she has going on?
20:40Amazing stuff.
20:41And then she throws it all away
20:42just to go back to Conrad
20:44after all of this.
20:45She finally has her own piece of the world
20:46that she carved out herself.
20:48She just shrugs it off
20:49and goes back to this nonsense.
20:51I was loving the way the show was about to end.
20:53Like even Conrad coming to visit,
20:55you know,
20:55and then belly telling him
20:56that all this was just a life
20:57that was put upon them by adults,
20:58but now she has her own life
20:59and her own world,
21:00her own goals and dreams and friends
21:01that she made by her own choice.
21:03The show should have had
21:04a bittersweet ending right there
21:05with both of them realizing
21:06that life has moved on past all of this
21:08and everything they thought
21:09was so important
21:10was just them going through the motions
21:11that they were like heavily pushed into doing.
21:13But no,
21:14she has to go back to Conrad
21:15because heaven forbid,
21:16she expand her life in any way.
21:18Now,
21:18I totally understand
21:19what they're going for,
21:20okay?
21:20Where she chooses Conrad
21:21because she wants to
21:22and not because of Suzanne
