00:12Hi there. Today we're going to be running the new HO scale Paragon 2 SW7 diesel made by Broadway
00:19Limited Imports. The Paragon 2 decoder works on DC and DCC layouts. Today we're running
00:31it on our layout with an MRC Prodigy Advanced DCC system. It features many realistic sounds
00:38including the bell and the unique single chime air horn. You can give a nice long blast or
00:53you can do short blasts by pressing Function 2. Function 3 on the SW7 actually performs two
01:05different tasks. While you're coupling the locomotive, you can actually make the coupler crash sound
01:10by pressing F3. And then once the locomotive stopped and you're ready to pull out, if you
01:22press F3 again and move forward, you'll hear the slack being released.
01:42Another cool feature is you can use Functions 5 and 6 to manually increase or decrease the
01:50diesel RPMs independent of the locomotive speed. This provides a very realistic effect, especially
01:55when the model starting out. So I'll increase the RPMs by using Function 5.
02:36Function 6 brings the RPMs back down.
02:51Function 6 brings the RPMs back down.
02:54For a full review of this DCC sound equipped locomotive, check out the February issue of Model Railroader.
