00:06Airports. It's often about rushing passengers, long queues, and the anxiety of boarding on time.
00:14But at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, this chaos is being replaced with calm, comfort, and care.
00:22Clearly, this transformation is one that prioritizes people as much as processes.
00:28The aim is simple, to make travel smoother and more inclusive as Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhardt prepares for Visit Malaysia
00:37year 2026.
00:39According to Sharon Izam Abdul Jamil, KLA Terminal 2 General Manager, the focus is on reviewing every step of the
00:46passenger journey, from arrival to departure.
00:49We know that throughout, passengers have been increasing drastically, especially looking at the peak season or the 50th season.
01:00So all these needs have to be addressed.
01:03So by reducing all these processes and also create a convenience that can cater for the required capacity,
01:11so all the flow will be seamless, and then the passengers journey will have a very good passengers experience.
01:19With school holidays and festive travel around the corner, families remain one of the airport's biggest user groups.
01:26MEHB has responded by making inclusivity a central part of its upgrades.
01:31Some areas include providing additional kid strollers, buggy services, and new wheelchairs to support mobility for the elderly and the
01:40sick.
01:41One standard addition is the new Calm Room, introduced under the Butterfly Effect Initiative.
01:47Equipped with calming elements like bubble tubes, fiber-optic lights, and an interactive wall panel,
01:54the room is designed as a quiet, sensory-friendly space.
01:59A new open lounge in International Gate L has been designed with widened corridors,
02:04generous seating, and warm tones accented with subtle songkit motifs for a modern and unmistakably Malaysian space.
02:12Transit passengers facing longer layovers can unwind at the refreshed movie lounge, offering a simple but welcome escape.
02:21Passengers can also access food easily during long waits, and for Muslim travelers,
02:26surafs have been refurbished with improved lighting and new carpeting for a more serene prayer experience.
02:34Washrooms have been upgraded with more cubicles and better amenities to add to passengers' comfort.
02:41Check-in and drop-off processes are more seamless now with upgraded open-belt backdrop kiosks
02:47and upgraded self-service backdrop systems.
02:52Passengers will also love the new clear wayfinding signages positioned at eye level at check-in counters
02:58for better navigation in high-traffic areas.
03:02Besides efficiency, safety has also been given a much-needed boost.
03:08Paramedics on e-scooters will now be on 24-hour standby, complete with a medical aid bag in case of
03:14emergencies.
03:16Stationed at key locations, these paramedics are equipped with oxygen tanks and AEDs,
03:23ensuring a faster response time to medical emergencies anywhere in the airport.
03:29Travelers are also greeted with a taste of local culture.
03:32A beautiful Kabaya exhibition by Kraftangan Malaysia will offer a glimpse of local craftsmanship and national identity.
03:41For Jarrett and Shannon McHugh, 45-year-old Canadian tourists traveling to Singapore with their son,
03:48the airport's new look is very pleasing.
03:51It's nice, it's nice and light in here, lots of seating, quite lovely so far.
03:56I love that there's some soft seating that really, really helps when you're waiting for a long flight,
04:02especially if you had a layover. We didn't, but it's nice when you do.
04:06It's nice that there's some food options here on air side, because we are a little bit worried that we
04:12might not be able to get something to eat on this side, so that's really nice.
04:16With its new focus, KLIA Terminal 2 is redefining what it means to travel well,
04:22offering passengers not just a place to pass through, but a space to pause, breathe and feel cared for.
