06:11you have absolutely nothing to be worried about
06:13thank you
06:14when I force me someone I can tend to feel like a little bit shy so I feel like they
06:17need to be
06:19not as shy as me to get it going
06:21What you do for living? I'm a health care assistant. Cool. My lady is also a nurse in the hospital.
06:25Really? So I do the home nursing. Rewarding, no? Yeah, it's such a rewarding job, yeah. It has to be
06:30funny also. Just someone that's very chatty can have a laugh and bounce off each other. Should we do this?
06:38Let's go.
06:43Hello, James. How's the crack? How are you? You look gorgeous. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Good,
06:50yeah? Good, yeah. You from Dublin? I am. I live around the corner. Fuck off. Yeah. Whereabouts? In Eastwall. Really?
07:00Yeah. Where are you from yourself? I live from Flindagan. Hi, yeah. Would you like a drink? Savi en blanc.
07:06Savi en blanc, lovely. Where are you posh?
07:08You show you up from town. Yeah. Savi en blanc. You'll be crying in about ten minutes telling him you
07:14love me and all, like, so, don't be stand that. Do you know what I mean? He's only dying for
07:18you to do that, so don't mind that. Hot, hot, hot rapid.
07:27You don't seem nervous at all or anything. Were you kind of okay coming in? I am nervous. Oh, yeah?
07:32Well, I mean, I was really excited. I wouldn't have known you were nervous, actually. Okay. Well, thank you. You
07:37didn't seem nervous.
07:38No, I was, yeah. Well, at the start, I mean, that was a shit job. Yeah. Yeah. What was that?
07:41That's just me all up now, to be fair. Oh, is it really? Yeah. My skills on a date now
07:45would be rusty, I was here.
07:48Modern dating is an absolute disaster. The dating apps and stuff like that, and, like, I'm not on them now
07:53for a long time. What's the worst that can happen, like?
07:55Oh, so much can go wrong. So nearly. Well, there's a better start. Oh, no, it can get worse. Oh,
08:00yeah.
08:00I do want to kind of find someone as well, so you have to kind of push yourself into an
08:03uncomfortable situations, like this, so, otherwise, like, you're just going to end up alone.
08:09And what time is the train tomorrow if you need to be there at 11?
08:12Um, I'll worry about that tomorrow.
08:14I hope I'm a good date. I haven't heard any reviews. I haven't asked.
08:19So, what's the dating scene like for you? Have you been kind of going out a bit, or?
08:22Um, recently, no, actually, no. I used to like to date. I used to have a lot more free time,
08:26though. Yeah, yeah.
08:27I'm just busy. I have hobbies. I have a competition at the end of the year, so I need to
08:32prepare for that as well.
08:33And what are you training for? I do pole as a sport.
08:35Like a stationary pole? Like pole fitness, like pole dancing. Oh, yeah.
08:38We do competitions, we do photo shoots. I like to say I do competitions. I did a competition. I won
08:44the lucrative certificate of participation.
08:47Do you live in Cork, then? Did you?
08:48I live in Cork, yeah. I'm renting one. Me and my best mate, and then another fella who was a
08:52year ahead of us in school, and then just some random guy, I got off daft.
08:55Off daft? You have men on daft?
08:59Yeah, because it was just like a room to rent.
09:03Yeah.
09:06I missed the joke.
09:07No, I said they've men on daft.
09:08Oh, yeah, yeah, yes.
09:10Cracking myself up here.
09:11Straight over me, I said, yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:21Yeah, here we go. Cheers, cheers.
09:23Cheers, lads.
09:24100%.
09:24There we go.
09:26How will we know if you fancy your date?
09:29Oh, it'll be very obvious. I'll just keep telling her she's gorgeous now.
09:31I'll tell her out straight.
09:32There'll be no hiding it.
09:34And if I don't like her, I won't be saying that, so I just can get the blatant taxi ready.
09:38Yeah, go ahead, I'll just have to say, you look fucking little.
09:40I was like, oh, yeah, she's gorgeous.
09:43She's gorgeous, like, you know what I mean?
09:45I'm just a lawyer from Dublin.
09:46I'm not being bad around, but...
09:48What did you expect?
09:49I didn't want anyone from the country, like...
09:51Oh, man.
09:51They wouldn't know how to take me.
09:53Right.
09:53Do you know what I mean?
09:54John, this is great that you're very outgoing.
09:56Yeah.
09:57Because I thought I was going for someone that's real quiet.
09:59No, no, Jesus, no.
10:01I've never actually been on a property.
10:03My friends sent me up on Tinder before, but I had no idea how to use it.
10:07I was out shopping, right, every morning I walked by,
10:08but my mom was like, oh, that could be her, that could be her.
10:11And I was like, oh, my God, stop, like...
10:13No, my mom wants a phone call or not.
10:15Yes, sir.
10:16Yeah, my mom wants to talk to you, like, so you know, right?
10:19Hello.
10:19Hello.
10:20What's the crack, you already?
10:21I'm good, how are you guys doing?
10:22I'm all good.
10:23Much better now.
10:24As in after a drink or after arriving or...
10:26Ah, they're meeting me.
10:28I was about to say that.
10:30You got there before you.
10:31Yeah, you do.
10:31Well done.
10:32Well done.
10:33I was walking over and I could see two of you smiling, so it was like,
10:36yeah, that's always a good start.
10:37Well, this man will make an empty room smile.
10:39Just stop.
10:41You're going to make me blush.
10:44What do you look for in a guy?
10:46They have to be over six foot, because I'm quite tall myself, so over six foot, definitely.
10:51How tall are you, actually?
10:54Six foot.
10:56Six foot, yeah, that's...
10:57Yeah, no, I'll be honest with you, right?
11:00Right.
11:01I'm not actually six foot, but I say I'm six foot, you know what I mean?
11:04I'm a little bit on that six foot.
11:06Right.
11:06Like a couple of male, but if I have a pair of shoes on, don't worry.
11:09I'm six foot, like...
11:10Right.
11:11What are you?
11:13I'm 5'9 without heels.
11:155'11 without heels.
11:18Yeah, I felt a bit intimidated when you came over.
11:20You've got to try on your shoes for this one.
11:30Anyone dating Linda should expect a little to and fro, but they'll be all the richer for it.
11:37Well, first of all, I'm a cheap date.
11:42I usually play table tennis with, like, one or two bottles of beer, so that's, like, what, 5 euro?
11:54Mateo, nice to meet you.
11:55My name is Linda.
11:56How are you doing, Mateo?
11:57Where do you come from, Linda?
11:58Berlin.
11:59Well, pleasure to have you.
12:01Thank you so much.
12:01You look lovely, yeah?
12:03Yeah, I tried a little bit.
12:04I even put on the heel.
12:06Oh, yeah.
12:07I'm a quite bubbly, outgoing person.
12:09I tend to date more introverted guys, because they kind of balance me out.
12:14I have a dog, and I'm facaded with it.
12:17Most of my spare time I spend with the dog, and then I also play volleyball.
12:20A little bit, and I got my finger fractured earlier.
12:23Oh, Jesus.
12:23Oh, my gosh.
12:26I broke my finger while playing volleyball.
12:29Was it painful?
12:30It's, um, it's okay.
12:31Stuff like that can happen.
12:32So I had, like, ligaments, fractured fingers, everything.
12:35Yeah, that macht nichts.
12:36Das macht nichts.
12:36Ja, aber das ist echt normal.
12:38How can you speak German?
12:40Ich habe kein Ostergeber-Test schon 25 Jahre alt.
12:43So, you're German fluid, I suppose.
12:45Ja, I used to.
12:46No, no, I forgot 90%.
12:48Okay, what are the curse words?
12:49He definitely knows them.
12:50I cannot devise these.
12:52That's okay.
12:56Martin is about to cross the line, into the restaurant, and out of his comfort zone.
13:03This is totally brand new for me at the age of 51.
13:06So, this is your first ever first date?
13:09Might be the last ones, ma'am.
13:10We'll see.
13:11We'll see how it comes off, you know?
13:17Well, Mateo, how are you?
13:18Good name?
13:19Martin.
13:20Mateo, nice to meet you, Martin.
13:21Nice to meet you, all right, good.
13:22Yeah, I like your Auschwitz, eh?
13:23Thanks very much.
13:24Yeah, man.
13:25I'm not very flirty.
13:27I look at little people doing it.
13:28You're going to go, oh, yeah, that's a good skill to have.
13:30I don't have that facet.
13:32All right, Linda.
13:33Thanks.
13:33Hi.
13:34Hey, how are you doing?
13:34Nice to meet you.
13:35Hello, I'm Linda.
13:36Nice to meet you.
13:37Hi, Mark.
13:38Good, good, Martin.
13:39Hi, nice to meet you.
13:41Linda.
13:41Linda.
13:42How are you feeling?
13:43Yeah, it's a bit of a weird experience, all right, like, you know?
13:46At the moment, it's kind of deer in the headlights kind of syndrome.
13:48I have to put myself in the frame of mind.
13:49Look, this is important.
13:50You need to have your game face on.
13:53I've got a 21-year-old at home.
13:55You've got a 21-year-old?
13:56Yeah, so I've got an 18-year-old who's finished his leaning search, so he's made the results.
14:00And then I've got an 8-year-old.
14:01Mmm!
14:03She's a whirlwind.
14:04My main life is just a busy household as well as work.
14:07So I'm looking for a person who has a busy life, too.
14:10How are we feeling?
14:11Thank you so much.
14:11Good.
14:12Good, yeah.
14:13Shake up all that nervous energy now.
14:15It's all, you know, that's all good.
14:16Are you nervous, Martin?
14:17Ah, it's been a long while.
14:19We're just going to have a nice evening.
14:21Have a nice evening and see how it goes and stuff like that.
14:22Exactly.
14:23I'm sure we're away now.
14:24So, Martin, cheers.
14:25Cheers, thanks very much.
14:26To all of us, to all of you.
14:28Bye now, see how it goes.
14:42No, wait.
14:43Hold on.
14:43Is that...
14:44Is that outside the end?
14:46Oh, that's so small.
14:48No, I don't know.
14:49That's how big it is.
14:50It should be like a white flag you can raise.
14:52I'm going to go play.
14:52Like a white thing, you know?
14:54Yeah.
14:54Do I use the big one or the little one?
14:56I've no idea.
14:58It's a big one.
14:58It doesn't matter which one is for the pasta.
15:02You can't do anything wrong here.
15:04It's not that, like, you have to follow a certain way.
15:06Okay, it's like...
15:07It's a cardamom and all that, like, you know?
15:09No, not at all.
15:09Yeah, no, push.
15:11Brenda Gibson, no.
15:15My last long-term proper relationship was about...
15:18I said it was about two and a half years ago at this point.
15:20What about you?
15:21It reminds me of five or six, I'd say, years.
15:23Oh, years?
15:24Yeah.
15:24Okay.
15:25I had one kind of serious relationship.
15:28That was for about four years.
15:29So, like, we lived together in Australia and stuff.
15:31Look, things finished up over there and I came back on my own.
15:34But I suppose that was the biggest moment of my life
15:35where I just thought, like, yeah, look,
15:38you need to just grow up now, like, you know?
15:40You need to decide what you want from yourself.
15:42I'd love to meet someone around that, but I'm quite independent, so...
15:45Yeah.
15:46Maybe I think probably the same like that.
15:47Yeah, yeah.
15:47But obviously it would be nice for someone to step in
15:49at the same time, so...
15:50100%.
15:51You want someone that complements your life, don't you?
15:53Exactly, yeah.
15:53And can add to it, you know?
15:55I'd love to find a best friend that I fancy.
15:57Like, someone to wake up in the morning and be like,
15:59wow, I can't believe I get to spend my life with you.
16:02This is brilliant.
16:03If you bought it the same interest,
16:05then you're never going to really learn it,
16:06then it's going to be a bit boring,
16:07whether it's you could teach me something new
16:09that I'm not used to or try a new experience
16:11and I'm going to be excited to do that
16:13because it's something you enjoy.
16:15You want to try pole dancing?
16:18I don't have to call for that, no, I don't know.
16:20I need to go.
16:24What are you going to work today?
16:25I was only in 9 till 11.
16:27So do you go around to the gaps
16:28or do you do it in a homelight?
16:30Around to the houses.
16:31That's the job, isn't it?
16:32Best job ever.
16:34I absolutely love my job and my clients especially
16:37and all their stories about the olden days.
16:40They've become more like family than clients.
16:42I work in construction management as a sci-fi man.
16:45I fucking love it.
16:47When I go get out of bed like halfway in the morning,
16:49skip out of bed.
16:50Half six, I'd go to bed.
16:51Yeah.
16:52Takes me a long time to get ready.
16:53If I go on holidays with you,
16:55am I going to be sitting there for hours?
16:57I'll go out, won't you?
16:58Have a nap while I get ready.
16:59I can't sleep.
17:00I have ADHD.
17:02So I'll be up the walls while you're getting ready.
17:04Give a shot of that hair dryer.
17:05Give a shot of that.
17:05If I'm not busy, I struggle with my mental health.
17:09So I need to keep myself constantly busy.
17:12So I was in therapy for a long time and I love me therapy.
17:15I love therapy as well.
17:16Do you?
17:17Yeah.
17:17Love it, innit?
17:17I love therapy.
17:18Just an hour of venting.
17:20Getting help was the best thing I've ever done.
17:22I got diagnosed and now I can take tablets for ADHD
17:25and it all just keeps me brain quiet.
17:29I suffer a lot with anxiety.
17:31I think tablets like get me through the day.
17:32Normally that's something that I'd like,
17:34wouldn't tell someone about.
17:35Nah, fuck it.
17:36Proud of how you are, man.
17:37Yeah.
17:37Out straight.
17:38Am I getting deep, deep like?
17:41I feel like maybe a good vibe though.
17:43Because like I make you a little bit fucking nuts.
17:45Yeah.
17:45And then like you'll just kind of like.
17:46Sound very quiet.
17:48I am out there as it is.
17:50You take, I am who I am at the end of the day.
17:52I've had me battles with it.
17:53I've tried to contain it.
17:54I can't stop it.
17:55I embrace it.
17:57I could have came in here now and just being real nice and real quiet.
18:01One of those, like another fella.
18:03And then like the second day you're like.
18:06Are we going on the second day?
18:08What?
18:08You going on the second day?
18:12Are we?
18:13Who said that?
18:18I'm Berlin.
18:19Is that where you're from, is it?
18:20Right in the middle?
18:22Right, wow.
18:23I'm like from the previous Soviet part in East Berlin.
18:25Watch the wall coming down as well.
18:26Like that's fascinating.
18:27People like kind of mocked us for like not having access to bananas and stuff.
18:32But it was good.
18:33Like you know as a child you can't miss what you don't know.
18:36I loved the unity in how I grew up.
18:42That's probably partly because everyone was spying on each other.
18:45I grew up in an 11 story house with like they had four flats on each level.
18:52And a great thing about it was that there were kids on each level.
18:55And we all used to play with each other.
18:58I had loving parents.
18:59I have an older sister that I was really, I am really close with still.
19:03So it was a good childhood, definitely.
19:05We didn't have much in the 80s but it was a good life.
19:07You have three children.
19:09And do they all live with you at all?
19:11We share custody.
19:13So is it like 50-50 dating?
19:14Oh, fair enough.
19:15So we got separated five years ago.
19:17So we got a divorce there last month.
19:19I met my next partner at work when I was an apprentice.
19:22Fell in love, married, kids.
19:25Life kind of got very busy.
19:2920 years kind of marriage and it fell away then and basically common interests weren't so common then.
19:34I thought once I got married you get 2.4 children, you get the white picket fence in the labrador.
19:39That's it, job done, box it, put it on the shelf.
19:40Work on.
19:41I didn't respect that the marriage kind of needed a constant work.
19:44Like, you know, I was totally self-centered on work and providing.
19:48I was working two jobs.
19:49The kids were young.
19:49I was conscious of providing.
19:50But I didn't see them grow up.
19:52But my core value is now to kind of check in with the kids, make sure they're working fine, make
19:57sure everything's going on with them fine as well.
19:59Like, you know.
19:59I have the children Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
20:03So then when Wednesday, Thursday, Friday kick in, the house is empty.
20:08I haven't dated now in, what, four, God, six, seven years?
20:12And now you are here.
20:13So, yeah, I know, yeah, I know.
20:15No, that's amazing.
20:17Putting yourself out there.
20:18Gotta get out of the comfort zone.
20:19But uncomfortable here.
20:29Once upon a time in Mexico, Itzel longed to see the world.
20:34And then she found herself here.
20:39I was very shy growing up.
20:41But then I realized that I was missing out on a lot.
20:47That's when I started to travel.
20:48And then I started to become more comfortable in my own self.
20:52When you feel comfortable in your own self, you like yourself.
20:55You want to share who you are with other people.
20:59You're welcome.
21:00Well, look at you.
21:03I've seen your boots, huh?
21:04Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
21:05I'm from the north of Mexico.
21:07My cowboy boots, they are part of me.
21:10Growing up, my parents, they used to own kettle and horses.
21:15So we used to go horse riding every single weekend.
21:18And what brought you to Ireland?
21:20A relationship that didn't work out.
21:23But now I'm here.
21:25You all have those.
21:27Have you dated anyone since?
21:28No.
21:29No, okay.
21:30So you're really putting yourself out there.
21:33I'm here on my own with my cat.
21:35Now I'm just trying to integrate myself into the romantic life again.
21:41What's your normal type?
21:42Hot.
21:43Tall.
21:45Okay.
21:46I would like to meet a soft, kind, personality, gentle.
21:50I'm into, like, you know, like, that, like, Irish type that is, like, brown hair, like, blue eyes.
21:56Someone that appreciates small things.
21:58I just appreciate the beauty of being alive.
22:03With Kira, there's so much to appreciate.
22:07Maybe too much.
22:09I could probably do a bit more social anxiety because, like, I just don't care.
22:19I knew I was going to do that.
22:21Everybody does the same.
22:23I've been single, like, a year and a half.
22:25And I just feel like I'm ready to put myself out there again and start dating.
22:28How do you feel?
22:29God, I'm looking forward to just getting stuck in now, do you know what I mean?
22:33A bit apprehensive, but I also like doing things for the plot and just thought it would be a good
22:37story.
22:38Hey.
22:38No.
22:39Hello.
22:40Lovely to meet you.
22:41Sorry.
22:42Nothing to meet you.
22:42What's your name?
22:44Kira.
22:44Kira.
22:45Nice to meet you, Kira.
22:46Yes?
22:47It's Elle.
22:47It's Elle.
22:48Oh, lovely.
22:49Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:50Where are you from?
22:52Calcani.
22:52I'm living in Dublin at the moment.
22:54I've been here for nearly a year.
22:56How about yourself?
22:57I am from Mexico.
22:58Oh, yeah?
22:59Are you living in Dublin?
23:00Yes.
23:01Right now, I'm child-minding, like, and I do, like, tours with, you know, like, those groups of Italians that
23:08are, like, 15-year-olds.
23:10And they go around town.
23:12Well, I have to mind them.
23:13Hey, how are you?
23:15You both hit the jackpot, I think, here.
23:17You're very well matched.
23:23Enjoy.
23:24It's lovely.
23:25Oh, how cute.
23:26Will we just go right down the middle?
23:28Yeah, I do it.
23:29Oh, it's actually quite soft.
23:31Go on.
23:32Jesus, we are years at this.
23:34Look at this.
23:35Like, how long are you married?
23:38How would you make it known that you fancy someone?
23:41I think all you can't take this part in.
23:43You can tell by someone's eyes, and if they're into you or you're into them, you know, because you might
23:47be catching yourself staring for a second.
23:48You're like, Jesus Christ, Cooper Cooley, I want you to know.
23:51I have a bird right there.
23:53Yeah?
23:53Oh, I just seen yours.
23:55I was in the wars, all right?
23:56I'm kind of a mark here.
23:58I was trying to kick a ball when I was younger, and I fell, clung the rad.
24:02Parents had to bring me to A&E, bust open.
24:04Jesus.
24:04But then in my 20s, out on a night out, I went to go open the door, and when the
24:08lads kicked it, swung shut, bang, split my eyebrow.
24:12So all here?
24:13Yeah, all.
24:13This side of the head is not a good area for me.
24:16Oh, my God.
24:17How about you?
24:18In the wars?
24:19Actually, I broke my neck last year when I was bull dancing.
24:22Oh, fuck.
24:23I wasn't expecting to say that, yeah.
24:25One day, I went into, it's called a shoulder mount.
24:28Not a hard move.
24:29It's one of the basic moves.
24:30I do it all the time.
24:31I do it now.
24:32And I just went up, and I came straight down.
24:35When I got to the hospital, I got all my scans and everything.
24:38It was absolutely terrifying.
24:39I was so scared.
24:41I was so, so scared.
24:43But luckily, I didn't have any paralysis.
24:45It was fixable.
24:47I was out of work for about six months.
24:49I couldn't train for, like, a year.
24:52Yeah, you did get back on the pole.
24:54100%.
24:54Yeah, first thing I did was a shoulder mount.
24:57Get on that horse.
24:58I actually have a broken toe at the moment.
25:00Oh, really?
25:01Yeah.
25:01I see why you're pairing us up there.
25:03Yeah.
25:04Two klutzes.
25:05Two liabilities there, yeah.
25:08So when you ever had one relationship?
25:11I was 16 until I was 18.
25:14I'm now 20.
25:15I was in a seven-year relationship.
25:17Oh.
25:1814 until 21, 22.
25:21I feel like the whole time I was in that relationship, I was still 15.
25:25And since the breakup, I feel like I've only grown up.
25:28I am a soft as fuck.
25:30I love love.
25:31I'm mad about that.
25:32So do I.
25:33The next girl I'm getting with is the girl I plan on being with forever.
26:05Like, I'm not doing this whole situation.
26:06Endometriosis.
26:07You've probably never heard it up before.
26:08So it's, like, basically a thing where it affects you having children.
26:11Why?
26:12I start experiencing very bad pain in my early teens.
26:16And I was in the hospital for years on end, and they didn't know what was going on.
26:21They told me it was all in my head and sent me home.
26:24At 16, I was diagnosed, and then at 18, I had my fourth surgery, which needs to happen a lot
26:31for it to actually stay at bay.
26:33Knowing that I wanted kids, knowing that that can affect it, was hard for me.
26:39But I've gotten to accept that, yeah, this is going to be the way it is.
26:4425, 26 is probably the age where it'll be harder.
26:49No, it'll be much harder to have kids.
26:51So I don't want to get busy, too.
26:52Come on, like, is it?
26:55Come on, we just like it, will we?
26:57You might as well get going.
27:02Are you nervous?
27:03I am a bit nervous.
27:04Yeah, I am.
27:05I feel like it takes a bit of time to, like, you know, get to know someone and chat away.
27:10Physically, I don't really have a type, but I guess a nice smile is something I really like.
27:17Nice hair, but, yeah, overall, I think personality is more important to me.
27:21I'm in the border.
27:23I'm in Juarez.
27:24Like, it's, like, next to El Paso, Texas.
27:26What is Texas like?
27:27I would say, like, Texas is Mexico.
27:29Texas is West Mexico.
27:31So, in my brain, it's like...
27:32We don't get into colonization at this point.
27:36I have a Native American heritage through my dad.
27:42He's 80% Chiricahua.
27:45There's this whole little story that we come from a reservation in Texas, and then we were
27:50running away in the 1800s.
27:53We ended up in Chihuahua, and we had to change our name.
27:56Do you go to Texas much?
27:58I would go every single weekend to visit my auntie in El Paso.
28:01Oh, no way.
28:02I have, like, a border crossing visa.
28:05I have a permit to go there, and I usually fly through the United States to get to my city.
28:12Like, I just have to cross the border.
28:13And now I'm, like, should I go through the United States?
28:18Like, are they going to look through my phone, or are they going to see them for a policy?
28:22Yeah.
28:23Are you into politics?
28:24Ah, everything is political.
28:26Political.
28:27Everything is political.
28:28Every single thing is political.
28:30I actually, I did my undergrad in political science, and then I did a master's in public health,
28:36which I loved.
28:37Like, I really wanted to go.
28:39I was going to do a PhD.
28:40Girl, you're doing a lot.
28:42I love that.
28:43I love you're educated.
28:45I know.
28:45I would have loved to gone into that kind of sphere and make a difference, but I'm in tech sales
28:52now, so.
28:53Your soul.
28:54I've sold my soul.
28:55But I'm involved in, like, other aspects in the company.
28:59Like, I run their pride and employment resource group, so I feel like that kind of feeds my soul.
29:06I would love to be in that sector, maybe further down the line,
29:10but I definitely enjoy doing it on the side, and it's something I'm very passionate about.
29:15Yesterday, I was at the Botanic Gardens, and we were looking at the squirrels, and I was telling the kids,
29:21like,
29:21those gray squirrels are colonizer squirrels, the redhead squirrels, like, they were killed by them.
29:27Just bringing it back to what you're saying, like, everything's political, do you know what I mean?
29:31Like, everything is political.
29:33Yeah, it is.
29:36I just see the sun outside, they go right on the bike, so they should go right on the bike,
29:39and that's it, then they're back in.
29:40So when you say mountain biking, is that then there's, what's it called, like, when you're in the woods, and
29:44then you do it?
29:45Yeah, that's it.
29:45Yeah, trails.
29:46Yeah, all trails.
29:47Yeah, yeah, no, I love that.
29:48Yeah?
29:49That's amazing.
29:50Has that not hurt on your bum?
29:51You need to have a really good...
29:53Well, you probably do, yeah.
29:55Do you get chatted up at all?
29:57No.
29:58But I don't get out much.
30:00I know, I get out, like, I do mountain biking myself, and I go up the mountain for two or
30:03three hours and stuff like that,
30:05and you might meet the odd sheep, if that's about it.
30:07You know the reservoir lake in Bohrnabrine?
30:11I do.
30:11So that's where...
30:12I cycle it up there.
30:13Yeah, the whole loop, I love that loop.
30:14That's what I do once a weekend, so I bring my dog to that, and it's, like, that's, like, five
30:19minutes from my house.
30:20Oh, wow.
30:21And then you kind of drive into that scenery, and I have to pinch myself sometimes, and I'm like, I
30:27live like that.
30:28Like, this is so amazing.
30:30Dating over here is a little bit different than at home in Germany.
30:34You know, as Germans, we tend to be quite forward and direct.
30:39Also, in Germany, you usually split the bill, so I ended up kind of having arguments then with the dates.
30:45Can I take these plates out?
30:46Are you free or are you finished?
30:47I'm very much, perfect.
30:48Enjoy it?
30:49Good, yeah.
30:49It's good, yeah.
30:49It's good.
30:49It's a pleasure for you.
30:50Of course.
30:51Outside in or inside out?
30:52What'd you start?
30:52Outside in.
30:53Small forks for the starters.
30:55Yeah, but the small forks are for the starters.
30:59Yeah.
30:59Because I took the bigger ones over.
31:01Because we didn't have a starter.
31:03So what I should have done, really, is taken away the small ones.
31:06Because that was the first planet connected.
31:07All right, okay, we'll look like idiots here.
31:10Outside in.
31:15I'd love to own my own restaurant as well.
31:17Oh, yeah?
31:17Yeah, that's my long-term dream.
31:19The old kind of Berlin style.
31:20And then have that kind of really good music in the background.
31:23Yeah, yeah, I like that.
31:23Just that nice vibe.
31:24I'd go there, yeah.
31:25Who are the best?
31:26It's made the figure.
31:28I enjoyed myself.
31:29Yeah, she was stunning.
31:30I think there was a bit of a spark there, yeah.
31:32So she might be able to show me around Dublin later and we'll see.
31:34Yeah.
31:35I never really come to Dublin unless it's like, it's a gig on or like the odd time I go
31:39to the Viva with my dad to watch a match.
31:40Oh, lovely.
31:41But like, I wouldn't have any, at the moment, have any reason to go up to Dublin, yeah.
31:45Do you want to go up to Dublin?
31:47No.
31:48No, you do.
31:48Yeah.
31:53Would you like to see each other again romantically?
31:58Do you want to go first or...?
31:59I can go first.
32:01I'd like to see you again.
32:03Yeah, no.
32:04I would, yeah, definitely.
32:05I had a good time, so, definitely.
32:07A lovely time.
32:07Very relaxed, very chill.
32:09Yeah.
32:09Easy down.
32:09Lovely to look at.
32:10Yeah.
32:11Oh, Jesus.
32:12Here we go.
32:12I'd have to take a compliment.
32:13Obviously, you're gorgeous too, yeah.
32:15Two?
32:16Yeah.
32:17No, I had a good time, yeah.
32:20I thought he was absolutely lovely looking and I kind of could tell straight off the bat that we're going
32:25to have a nice time together.
32:26She kind of ticked all those boxes, definitely, so I knew that maybe within the first 30 seconds.
32:32So, what do you think plans are for the rest of the day then?
32:34We'll go for drinking, I suppose, or something.
32:36Yeah, home turf, I'll look after you.
32:37Yeah.
32:38We'll get you on that train.
32:39Yeah.
32:40We'll see you about that.
32:50I've never known me that.
32:51Really?
32:52Yeah.
32:52My ma had me when she was 19, on her 19th birthday.
32:56My ma is like, oh, my best friend.
32:58I love that.
32:58It was great growing up having a young ma.
33:00Like, since I got older, she's more like my sister and my best friend.
33:04And your ma is young, isn't it?
33:05My ma is 29.
33:06Oh, my ma is going to be young.
33:08Really?
33:09Oh, my ma is much older than that.
33:10Sorry, ma.
33:11How old is your ma?
33:1356.
33:14My nanny is around that age.
33:17Free is going to be young.
33:20Me and my ma lived in my nanny's house up until I was like 10.
33:24My nanny told me to stay single until I find someone who will treat me the way she treats me.
33:29My nanny is my best friend.
33:31Hold on, is your ma your best friend like a nanny?
33:33I'm so old to them.
33:33If one of them doesn't approve you, it's like...
33:36I'm very lucky though.
33:38I'm a bit of a charmer.
33:40You know what, man?
33:40I can play the game with them.
33:41My ma is going to be a bit of a male flick, isn't she?
33:44You know what, man?
33:49My ma loved that.
33:50I know.
33:50She would be the liar.
33:51We're going to ring her in a minute.
33:52I'm going to say what's up to her.
33:53Your ma is not mad about it, is she?
33:55What?
33:55You know, like a mammy's boy that like that.
33:57My son, my son.
33:59I don't know.
34:00You're going to talk to her in a few minutes.
34:02Yeah, I have to.
34:03I have to talk to her.
34:22Oh my gosh.
34:24It's okay.
34:24You didn't have that tucked in your mouth.
34:30With the kids and stuff like that, my life is busy, you know?
34:33So, if I involve someone else into the puzzle, I want to be able to have someone that kind
34:36of, that I respect and respect my time.
34:38I get that.
34:39You know, that's where I told you from, you know?
34:41I just have one child with just my dog.
34:43So, you've got to respect that.
34:45I walk up three times big.
34:45Yeah, no, it's only that.
34:46Only that.
34:47I'm fully settled in my life.
34:49So, I'm looking for a connection that is really convincing, so you kind of make space for
34:54that other person.
34:55In my 20s and 30s, I was always looking for my place.
35:00Mm-hmm.
35:00And now I feel like I've found it.
35:02Like, I live in this cute little house on the outskirts of Dublin.
35:05It's like, living-wise, I finally feel like I have arrived.
35:08Yeah, so what's the next phase for you, then?
35:13Um...
35:13Have you thought about that?
35:14I'm sorry, that's going through the...
35:16No, no.
35:16I don't feel like I don't want to...
35:17Not necessarily the person who says, I want to be married.
35:20Yeah, I know that too, yeah.
35:21I do love my freedom, but I want to share life.
35:24Yeah.
35:25Whatever I put into a relationship now would be lessons I've learned from the past.
35:29I'm not the same kind of guy who was five years ago.
35:31I'm more independent, more stronger.
35:33I have an older sister.
35:34She has two boys.
35:35They are 9 and 12.
35:37Love them to death.
35:38Absolutely.
35:38But her whole life evolves around the children.
35:41There's literally no time for her.
35:42No time to go to the hairdresser, do her nails, nothing.
35:45It doesn't look like an attractive way of life.
35:49Mm-hmm.
35:50Yeah.
35:50It's still...
35:53You really gotta want it.
35:55Oh, I know that too, yeah.
35:56There's no going back.
35:57Once you go down that route, there's no going back as well.
35:58No!
35:59You can't shove it back in.
36:02Maybe.
36:03I'm not sure if I'm really into...
36:10I think I'm happy with the dog.
36:11Yeah.
36:12Yeah.
36:12No way.
36:19Can you cook?
36:21No.
36:21Oh, I bollocks.
36:22Well, actually, you're not cooked.
36:23No.
36:24I'd fucking go in water.
36:25No, my man's great though.
36:26My man has me dinner on the table every time I'm home.
36:28That's like my nanny.
36:30I don't know what I mean.
36:31Love just makes you feel proper, you know what I mean?
36:33That's what I want.
36:33I want a reason to go home and be happy.
36:36When they say, oh, will you walk late tonight, James?
36:38I'll be like, no.
36:39I'm going out of my wardrobe.
36:40Do you drive?
36:41No.
36:42No?
36:42Not at the minute.
36:43You live in town, though, so it's grand.
36:45But you're living in St. Dawkins a bit late.
36:46Yeah, we work in town, so.
36:48We're grand.
36:49We're just come out and we're like, what's up after work?
36:51Up to my nannies.
36:52Up to your nannies for dinner.
36:53She can cook me dinner.
36:54I think love is having someone that you can feel safe and content with.
36:59Someone that you can just start your own life with and your own family with.
37:03Four people you have to impress before I can see it.
37:05My ma, my nanny.
37:07Alex, my best friend.
37:09And me, Andy.
37:09When are we meeting them?
37:10Well, I'll give them a ring there.
37:11We'll meet them somewhere now.
37:12We'll get it all out of luck away, like.
37:14Do the whole lot now.
37:15I'd rather be travelling to the deep end here, like, do you know what I mean?
37:22I've been single, like, a year and a half, and I was seeing a girl for a while,
37:27until maybe a year ago.
37:29And then I just kind of realised I just wasn't ready today.
37:32And as you know, like, lesbians move very quickly.
37:35Yeah, they do.
37:36Okay.
37:37Are you bi or are you a lesbian?
37:38I'm bi, yeah.
37:40I'm bi too.
37:41Perfect.
37:43Throughout my whole date and history, and definitely now, I'm very avoidant.
37:47Like, it definitely takes me a while to get to that level of giddiness and love.
37:52When did you come to Ireland, then?
37:54Ah, two years ago, I was solo travelling.
37:57Met a guy.
37:58So I came to Ireland on and off, like, for that.
38:01They were Irish for that.
38:02Oh, they were Irish.
38:04And where were you living that?
38:05Ah, in Mexico.
38:07Yeah, I had, like, a full-on, like, engineer job.
38:10Put my career on pause.
38:12The thing that I shouldn't have done.
38:14And then I moved into Ireland, like, full-time six months ago.
38:18And then, like, the relationship didn't work out.
38:21So I just, like, moved in on my own, like, did my own things.
38:26It's a bit crazy how, like, he went to Mexico four times to visit me within a year.
38:32Then I came here, and then, like, within months like that, it was like, okay.
38:36But you fell in love with Ireland?
38:38Oh, I fell in love with Ireland.
38:40Yeah.
38:41Oh, my God.
38:42Super linings.
38:42When you've been through a relationship and then you break up, there is a gap that you
38:47have to go out there and find yourself, and you'll feel lonely.
38:51But then, when you find yourself again having fun and being happy doing you, then you don't
38:58feel sad and lonely.
39:00What would you be into, like, girls?
39:02I don't overly have any physical preferences.
39:05I said a nice smile, but you definitely have gorgeous teeth.
39:08So that was a beauty type.
39:10I said, like, brown hair.
39:13I mean...
39:14Blue, oceany, Irish eyes.
39:17I didn't say that.
39:23So he's very kind.
39:25He's very friendly.
39:26He lives in Carlingford.
39:28Yeah, I enjoyed it.
39:28I enjoyed the company as well.
39:29Cool, man.
39:30Cool.
39:31As soon as I've seen you chatting, I said, this is going well.
39:34Yeah, there's no quiet moments.
39:36Into mountain biking, and he's also loving his freedom and stuff.
39:41It's just not my time.
39:46I hope it's not going to be awkward later on.
39:49You know, when we do, like, do you want to see each other romantically again?
39:52Uh, maybe just be like, oh, he was super nice, and I mean, like, with no spark.
39:58Can I say that?
39:59Can I say that?
40:01That's a fair thing to do now.
40:03You know.
40:04Oh, never pay.
40:06No!
40:08If he wants to pay, then pay.
40:12It's really outgoing.
40:14So, I'm so glad, because if he was really quiet, I'd be like...
40:19I just like to be, I'm going to ring my man in a minute, any of the talks.
40:22I'm like, what?
40:24But my man would be the exact same.
40:26My man would want to talk to him.
40:28It's going well, but I can tell that it's like a, like, it's slowly building up.
40:32I do feel like we're both, like, slow.
40:34Like, we're both, like, girlies, like, feminine energy.
40:39So, we have to take our little time.
40:41I'm down for it.
40:42I like it.
40:44We're very, like, similar, like, beliefs-wise and morals.
40:48Nice.
40:49Like, I know we probably shouldn't be talking politics on a first date, but we are.
40:53Well, if it's working, that's grand.
40:55I wouldn't be with someone who's, kind of, my values and morals weren't, like, similar.
40:59I think you're right, you know.
41:01Because your values affect everything.
41:03Yeah.
41:05What do you think makes for a good relationship?
41:08I think it's just when the two individuals can completely be themselves.
41:13When they just have a happiness aura to them.
41:17I love, like, going, getting a coffee in a coffee shop before work, reading my book.
41:23Are you a reader?
41:25Yeah.
41:26I read at night before I go to bed.
41:29Choosing every single day to love that person.
41:32Choosing every single day to stay there.
41:35Yeah, so that's what my sister's hat looks like.
41:38He's an angel.
41:39He's an angel.
41:40They're so mesmerizing, aren't they?
41:42How old is he?
41:43Twelve.
41:44Oh.
41:45Oh, I got him when I was fifteen.
41:47I brought him to Ireland with me.
41:49Like, how could I not?
41:50No.
41:51They're such a huge comfort.
41:54They're the best friend.
41:55Yeah.
42:03Oh, are we there already?
42:05We've come to the end.
42:06I'm so sorry.
42:09Can we split?
42:10Can we split the bill?
42:13I'm gonna pay for all of it, alright?
42:15Alright, alright.
42:15Yeah, I'd rather do that.
42:16You know?
42:19Yeah.
42:19It's my treat, alright?
42:22Whatever you wanna do it.
42:23My Irish friend told me not to are you.
42:26Don't, yeah.
42:26Because it just ends up being desperate.
42:28You know, that's it.
42:29Thanks very much.
42:30You're very welcome.
42:32No problem at all.
42:33No problem at all.
42:38So, would you guys like to see each other romantically again?
42:43I thought you were definitely engaging.
42:45Very attractive.
42:47Totally respectful.
42:48It's great company.
42:49I just kind of...
42:49Values kind of more or less didn't align.
42:53I think it was a very nice evening.
42:55So, I would love to kind of get to know you better on a friendship level, if that's alright.
43:00Yeah.
43:01Felt the same kind of.
43:02Yeah.
43:03Yeah.
43:03Felt the same.
43:05Beautiful lady.
43:06Couldn't have thought of anything about her.
43:07But, Lina's coming from a background with no children.
43:09I'm coming from a background with children.
43:10So, values differ.
43:11Totally enjoyed the experience and time went by so quickly as well.
43:15If you ever can't allow this, just look us up.
43:17Oh, for sure.
43:18That's about it.
43:19And mountain biking without like my bum hurting on that fucking saddle.
43:24Yeah.
43:25With my dog in the rucksack.
43:27Sticking out.
43:27I think we can deal with that.
43:29Yeah.
43:29All right.
43:31Have a good night.
43:32Take good care.
43:33All right.
43:33You too.
43:38Hello.
43:40I'm still on the day here.
43:42Do you want to say hello to her?
43:43Yeah.
43:43I'm on the day here.
43:44And he wants to speak to you.
43:45So, you're going to speak to him.
43:46I'm going to speak to him, right?
43:47He wants to speak to you while I'm speaking to his man.
43:50What's her name?
43:51What's the girl?
43:51Fee.
43:52His name is James.
43:53There you go, Fee.
43:56What's the crack?
43:56How are you?
43:57How are you?
43:58How are you?
43:59How are you?
43:59What's your name?
44:00How are you?
44:00How are you?
44:12How are you?
44:13What's your name?
44:14I live in East Wall, so I live close to here where we are.
44:17Yeah, we're still on it now.
44:18I'll be all over the camera.
44:19I know.
44:20You're going to get you a few seconds of fame, yeah.
44:24We're getting on great.
44:25He's a real outgoing person, isn't he?
44:27Right.
44:28Listen.
44:28I'll talk to you in a while, right?
44:30Yeah.
44:30I'll see you soon.
44:31Nice talking to you too.
44:33Okay.
44:34Bye, bye, bye.
44:37My mask got a bit light.
44:39That's what I said to you.
44:40I'll get you a few seconds of fame.
44:47Is this chocolate?
44:48What did I even order again?
44:49Ah, Sherlock.
44:51I love that you say Sherlock.
44:54Like, Sherlock.
44:55Like, that's so Irish.
44:56You can see why you put us together.
44:58Like, we definitely agreed a lot on, like, morals and values.
45:02My undergrad and college, I kind of focus on, like, women in politics.
45:06We have the first female Mexican president in Mexico.
45:09Amazing.
45:09And she's amazing.
45:10And we just connected in life.
45:13Literature, like, political stance.
45:17There's this, like, quote by, like, Scott Fitzgerald.
45:21Sorry to interrupt.
45:22I'm going to drop this.
45:23That's all right.
45:24I feel like I think we could just still be yapping away.
45:30Do you want me together?
45:32No, let's get happy.
45:32Yeah?
45:33Yeah, yeah, yeah.
45:33Perfect.
45:35Would you like to see each other again romantically?
45:39Yeah, I would.
45:40Would you?
45:41I would, too.
45:42Yeah.
45:43You were the first.
45:45I was like, thank you for that.
45:47I was like, thank you for that.
45:48I want to get to know you more.
45:50Of course.
45:51Yeah, for sure.
45:51You're very interesting.
45:52You're very touched.
45:53You're very pretty.
45:54Yeah.
45:54I love your eyes.
45:55So are you.
45:56You guys fancy each other?
45:58Yeah.
45:58Yeah.
46:03What's the second date?
46:04Oh, I said, like, hoes, and then, like, a spice bag,
46:07and, like, a 99, and then, like, the cliff wall, like,
46:10the cliff walk.
46:11Like, I was like, oh, we're going there, there, there.
46:14Sounds good.
46:27Yeah.
46:28So, do you get your nails, your lashes all done for this?
46:30I don't get my lashes done, but I get mine extensions,
46:35and my nails are not done.
46:36My hair is, like, this short.
46:38I didn't have my extensions, so.
46:39I love it now.
46:39I'm obsessed with my hair.
46:40Really?
46:41Oh, it's fine now.
46:43Our first holiday is talking, like.
46:46Do you fancy her?
46:48Yeah, definitely.
46:49I fancy that straight away, like.
46:50I think that's the only thing you live near here.
46:52I've always wanted to live in town.
46:53Yeah, I've always wanted to live in town.
46:54Yeah.
46:54Because I walk here.
46:55I like that as well, like.
46:56I feel like she'd make me a better person.
46:58I love living in flats, like.
46:59Not in flats.
47:00Not flats, like, apartments.
47:02Flats.
47:05You're up to flats.
47:06She wants me a bit more louder.
47:08I want to be a bit more quieter.
47:10And you can kind of, like, meet in the middle
47:12and match my in heaven job, do you know what I mean?
47:13Like, I have a lot to deal with.
47:15I understand that.
47:16I'm going to annoy you.
47:17I'm going to annoy you.
47:18You haven't lied me so far, no.
47:20Come on.
47:20Would you guys like to see each other again,
47:23romantically?
47:25Can we go first?
47:26Yeah.
47:26You go first?
47:27Yeah, yeah.
47:28I would, yeah.
47:29Yeah, I would too.
47:31Oh, Jesus Christ.
47:32I thought I was going to have a heart attack there.
47:35It's a beautiful night.
47:37I just love your vibe.
47:38I just think, like, you have to be grounded a little bit,
47:40like, and I think you were the one,
47:41you were able to do it for us, you guys.
47:43Like.
47:43I think I want to marry you.
47:46Him being very ill-grown and confident, like.
47:49Yeah, I like that.
47:50I think we might not like him, so it's a yeah for me.
47:54Yeah, and then go down with Valerie.
47:56Me and Annie.
47:57I want to marry you.
47:59Where is the second date going to be?
48:01I want to go to the zoo.
48:02No, I'll go somewhere fancy.
48:04Yeah.
48:04Second day we can go to the zoo.
48:06Yeah, second day we can.
48:07Or the third date?
48:08Third date, yeah.
48:08This is the first date, yeah.
48:10I'm already on the third date and all.
48:11Didn't even ask for the third date.
48:13Lovely.
48:14Is it the look in your eyes?
48:17Or is it this dancing tune?
48:21What's up, girl?
48:22How are you?
48:23Got on the clown on the street, yeah?
48:32I wasn't scared to say yes.
48:34Like, I felt like the vibes were there.
48:43You didn't take me for that cocktail you promised this, wasn't it?
48:46I did, yeah.
48:47Absolutely.
48:47Promise is a promise.
48:48Tell me right now, baby.
48:50Tell me right now, baby.
48:53Baby.
48:54Oh, it's a beautiful night.
48:56We're looking for something dumb to do.
49:01Hey, baby.
49:01That's our first holiday.
49:02Like, I'm talking, yeah?
49:04I get a hold of fake it.
49:05Would you make?
49:07Is it the look in your eyes?
49:10Or is it this dancing juice?
49:14Who cares, baby?
49:16I think I wanna marry you.
