00:00Now it's The Set Down with Milo Ventimiglia.
00:02Hi, Milo.
00:03We got a sneak preview of your new film,
00:05I Can Only Imagine 2.
00:07When you found out your role included singing,
00:09were you excited or terrified?
00:11Absolutely terrified, but I love a challenge.
00:15You know, singing and playing guitar
00:16and playing a kick drum with the tambourine on my heel
00:19and a harmonium all at the same time
00:21was not in my bag of tricks.
00:23So I kind of looked at that technical aspect of it.
00:26I'm like, OK, I don't necessarily
00:28need to learn how to play guitar.
00:30I just need to learn how to play three songs really well.
00:34Come on.
00:38One, two, one, two, three.
00:41Your character is based on a real life guy
00:43who faced so many hardships.
00:44And we know you faced many of your own.
00:47It's been almost a year since you lost your home
00:49to the Los Angeles fires.
00:50Did you channel your own resilience
00:52while tackling this role?
00:54Absolutely, it would be hard not to.
00:55You know, the message, Tim's story in the film
01:00is very much about holding a healthy amount of grief
01:04with gratitude at the same time in equal measure.
01:07And yeah, almost a year ago, my wife and I,
01:11we lost our home to the fires in Los Angeles.
01:14And two weeks later, our daughter was born.
01:17So I mean, you have these two completely opposite feelings.
01:20You know, one, just like, what do we do with, well,
01:23kind of, what do we do?
01:25But, you know, just heartbreak with absolute joy.
01:30And it would have been impossible to not put my own experience
01:34into this script.
01:35And eerily, they were just so aligned.
01:38You're never alone.
01:40You're about to be a father of two.
01:42How does fatherhood affect your performances?
01:44The well of understanding emotions
01:47and being able to convey them just bottoms out.
01:50And it's infinite.
01:52It's a pretty wild experience being able to take that new fatherhood
01:57and a new family and plug it into my work.
02:02People featured your Gilmore Girls boys,
02:04Matt Zugri and Jared Padalecki.
02:06They said such sweet things about you.
02:08I'm team jazz, funny enough.
02:10And always make a point to mention y'all's friendship,
02:12which we love.
02:13How does it feel to be forever bonded
02:15to such handsome fellas?
02:17I mean, listen, you know, I know that Logan and Jess
02:21and Dean were kind of very spread apart
02:24in who they were as characters.
02:26But Mattie Zugri and Jared Padalecki couldn't be the best.
02:31I mean, they're the best guys.
02:32Just, just, they couldn't be any lovelier as human beings.
02:34And I think it's nice that, you know,
02:37more than 20 plus years later,
02:38we all still can talk about this show
02:42that we were growing up on
02:44and come together as grown men just to recognize that
02:49and still have loving words for one another.
02:51Jared and Milo and myself,
02:53we, you know, have that connection.
02:56Jared told us his daughter Odette and wife
02:58watched Gilmore Girls.
02:59How do you feel about your own daughter watching one day?
03:01What if she's team Dean?
03:03I'd be way okay if my daughter eventually watched the show
03:06and she was team Dean.
03:07I get it because I'm team Jared, so I get it.
03:11Okay. To end the segment,
03:12we're going to put 10 seconds on the clock.
03:14Tell everyone why they should check out
03:16I Can Only Imagine 2. Ready? Go.
03:18I think you should go see I Can Only Imagine 2
03:21because you're going to be filled with goodness.
03:22And even though you're going through tough times in your life,
03:25you know that you have the strength
03:26to come through the other end
03:27and pass that on to somebody else.
03:28doesn't mean you're not'
03:28If you're going through the right
03:28of Certainly it's going to be full of
