00:01You killed Jeffrey Epstein, you animal!
00:06He was a good man!
00:08He knew too much about our Russia operations.
00:11He had to die, and now you die too. Cool movie, bro.
00:15The only problem? It's totally fake. Video of an AI-generated fight
00:19seen between A-listers Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise has caused uproar
00:24in Hollywood. Disney, Paramount, and the Actors Union
00:27are all punching back, so let's break it down. It all started when Irish
00:31filmmaker Rory Robinson posted the hyper-realistic footage to
00:35X on February 10th, showing the AI actors duking it out on a
00:39post-apocalyptic rooftop. In response, one of the writers of the Deadpool movies,
00:43Rhett Reese, tweeted this. I hate to say it, it's likely over
00:47for us. The original poster Rory said he used the AI video model
00:51Sea Dance 2.0 to create the cinematic footage, all with a simple
00:55two-line prompt. He later explained that he briefly had access to the AI
00:59tool before it was, quote, pulled down. Sea Dance is owned by the Chinese
01:03company ByteDance. Yep, that's the same tech company that Congress forced to
01:07sell TikTok in the US amid national security concerns, or
01:11face a ban. Well, ByteDance is back in the hot seat with this viral
01:15video. On X, the clip has generated 1.8 million views,
01:19and it reignited the debate over artificial intelligence. One X
01:23user tweeted, except it looks like
01:24echoing a common refrain among
01:27film buffs to call out AI
01:29slop on social media. Amid the uproar,
01:31Paramount's Sky Dance and Disney,
01:33both sent cease and desist letters
01:35to ByteDance, accusing the tech firm
01:37of blatantly stealing their intellectual
01:39property. The Mouse House went further,
01:41accusing ByteDance of training Sea Dance
01:432.0 with their characters,
01:45including Marvel's Spider-Man and Darth Vader
01:47from Star Wars, all without their permission.
01:50Disney alleged Sea Dance 2.0
01:51treated these beloved copyrighted characters
01:53as if they were public domain clipart.
01:56This week, the president of SAG-AFTRA
01:57and former Hobbit Sean Astin
01:59also voiced his concerns on CNN.
02:02He called videos like the Brad
02:03vs. Tom fight a threat to an
02:05actor's livelihood. The No Fakes
02:07Act is currently in the US Senate
02:09and aims to stop non-consensual
02:11deepfakes. Acknowledge
02:13that right now there is something
02:15that's happening in our country that's
02:17dangerous for people and government's
02:19job is to step in and provide
02:21realistic guardrails.
02:23Now, following the threat of legal action
02:25by two big Hollywood studios,
02:27ByteDance released a statement on
02:29February 16th saying,
02:31We are taking steps to strengthen
02:32current safeguards as we work to prevent
02:35the unauthorized use of intellectual
02:37property and likeness by users.
02:39Although the Chinese company
02:41did not elaborate on the measures
02:43it was taking.
02:43And I'll see you next time.
02:44We'll see you next time.
02:44We'll see you next time.
