01:05Un warm welcome.

01:48Bonsoir.
01:49Bonsoir.
01:50Bonsoir.
01:50Bonsoir.
01:52Bonsoir.
01:52since the very beginning, everything we could in order to save energy,
01:58in order to make sure that we are absolutely taking care of the planet.
02:07And this is core to our programme.
02:10And this year we have something very, very special.
02:15As you know, since a few years we have a country who is guest of honour.
02:23And this year the country guest of honour is Japan.
02:27And in a few minutes you will have the pleasure of having the minister
02:35who has made a special trip to come and present what Japan is all about.
02:42Japan has made a lot of innovation effort and created an ecosystem which is quite unique.
02:50And you will have all the information regarding what this ecosystem is.
02:56And we are extremely proud to welcome Japan.
03:00120 countries are represented.
03:03Forty countries have pavilions.
03:07And for the first time we have Canada.
03:11And we have the UK who is back.
03:15And having the UK with us is something great.
03:18After the Brexit, we thought that the UK will be on its own.
03:24But no, they are.
03:26They love to be next to the continent.
03:30And I think that Pierre will tell you a little bit about mobility.
03:36Yes.
03:37So it's really one of the pleasures of our lives to be here with you guys
03:41and to welcome you at VivaTech.
03:44When Publicis and Les Échos Les Parisiens founded this incredible event,
03:48we never thought it would be that big.
03:50So thanks to your contributions and to your presence,
03:52it's become really one of the foremost rendez-vous in technology around the world.
03:57So Maurice mentioned it, AI is going to be the name of the game.
04:01And obviously we have some very strong representatives of that industry here.
04:04but we're going to talk a lot about mobility.
04:07Mobility and AI sometimes go well along together.
04:10We have never had any numbers so big of players of mobility at VivaTech.
04:17We're going to see Airbus, Audi, CMA, CGM, Software Republic, TOG, Volocopter.
04:23We have a mobility park.
04:24Tesla is going to showcase its already famous Cybertruck.
04:29Stellantis is going to be in hall too.
04:31Toyota will represent Japan.
04:34Maurice mentioned how proud we are to have Japan here as country of the year.
04:38And China also will be here with Xpeng.
04:41They will all be doing reveals, presentations, showcases of things that they have put together for VivaTech.
04:48So it's going to be a lot of announcements, a lot of new things to see.
04:52But VivaTech, as you know since its inception,
04:56has always been a platform for business and business conversations.
04:59So we have great founding partners, which I want to quote here today.
05:04BNP, Paribas, Google, LVMH, La Poste and Orange.
05:09And we have platinum partners like Amazon Web Services, Dubai, PwC, Manpower Group.
05:14Many more partners also like Microsoft.
05:16I cannot quote all of them, but they all contribute to making this an area in which business conversations are
05:24welcome.
05:25There's a figure that I always remind our audience of.
05:2940% of the leads generated by the startups coming here are generated at VivaTech.
05:3540% of the lead of a whole year are made here.
05:38And so they spent most of the rest of the year discussing about what has been generated here in this
05:44venue.
05:46This year we've decided to reinforce the way we're going to make synthesis and presentations of the discussions and videos
05:53also of the event.
05:55We will have a chat bot which will produce an AI report after VivaTech with Les Echos and Make.org,
06:03who has contributed to this great solution.
06:07We've also created the Business Convention Center.
06:10And so you're likely to meet with the 2,500 investors that we welcome at the event.
06:15Around 3,000 startups with game-changing solutions, hopefully.
06:19And we have a new way to present everything in the Hall 2.
06:24The Hall 2 is focused on business.
06:25A brand new Exact Avenue, a Founders Lounge, a CMO Lounge, a Tech Leaders Lounge, an Exact Arena, a Connection
06:32Hub, and a new Stage 4 to go deeper into business and to offer startups their own program.
06:40We want to celebrate innovators and entrepreneurs.
06:43Maurice, maybe you want to take it from here?
06:44Yes, just a few words about all the awards that we are bestowing to the people during all the sessions.
06:56So there are something which is very dear to my heart, which is the Africa Tech Award.
07:03Africa is a continent who is doing a lot of great things on AI, on tech and innovation.
07:12And I think it is extremely important to recognize what the continent is doing.
07:17And we are extremely proud to have the Africa Tech Award.
07:21There is also something which is extremely important, not only for us, but for the entire world.
07:30It is to give to the women a specific role and to make sure that they are growing in the
07:40tech environment.
07:43And we have more than 40% of women who will be speaking in all our talks.
07:54And we have the Female Founders Challenge, which will take place tomorrow.
08:02Yes, tomorrow.
08:03And we will have tomorrow morning LVMH Innovation Award and many other awards which will take place during the next
08:16two days.
08:17What is now extremely important is that you enjoy, that you have the possibility of being really with a lot
08:32of marvelous innovation, that you have the possibility of discovering what the tech planet has to offer.
08:41And before you have access to this, we will ask the Secretary, the Secretaire d'Etat au numérique, Madame Marina
08:52Ferrari, to join us and to say a few words regarding what France is doing.
09:02Marina, welcome.
09:05Thank you, Maurice. Thank you, Pierre. Hello, everyone. I'm very honored to be with you this morning.
09:17And I wish you a very warm welcome in VivaTech 2024.
09:21A famous French mathematician called Henri Poincaré wrote in the 20th century, reprove with logic, but we find only with
09:34intuition.
09:36And true to his own intuition, you know that the President Macron has impulsed a determined policy to support tech
09:43and innovation in France.
09:45The concept of startup nation was born. Some laughed, some believed in it, but we must say now that the
09:53latter were right.
09:55Convinced that the development of digital technology was a fantastic growth lever, the French Gov has built a new economic
10:03policy based on two main points.
10:07First, simplification and tax reduction, and second, a strong support to our startups and to our innovation.
10:15Several years later, the road has proved us right.
10:19Now, France, you know that over the last five years, France has been the most attractive country for foreign investments
10:25in Europe.
10:26You've heard all the annonces made in Choose France.
10:30Our unemployment rate is the lowest in 15 years, and we count now more than 25,000 startups in France,
10:38representing more than one million of jobs.
10:42With huge successes like, for example, BlaBlaCar, Doctoli, Backmarket, Ledger, etc., and we are proud to have 32 unicorns in
10:51France.
10:52Since two years, France has recovered the way to reindustrialization, which more job created in industry than jobs destroyed, thanks
11:02to our deep tech.
11:04And a new trend is now at work.
11:07French talents who are working abroad are now coming back to work in France.
11:11And, of course, I want to thank the organization of VivaTech, because, dear Maurice and dear Pierre, we have now
11:18the most incredible and attractive event on technology in Europe.
11:23Give an applause for them.
11:29So we've got to remain very active, and we've got to work with an European mindset to strengthen our technological
11:39sovereignty.
11:39For me, sovereignty does not mean to close the door of France or to close the door of Europe.
11:46But this means for me that to make our own fundamental choices when it comes to mastering the technology we
11:54use.
11:54That is what, for me, sovereignty.
11:57With the acceleration of AI, we are living a real revolution, which could be compared to printing or electrification.
12:05AI has a huge potential to transform our economies and our societies, too.
12:12The report of the Commission on AI, who was ordered by the President of the Republic, shows that for France
12:18only, the growth, the gain of productivity could be more than one point per year, which could represent, just hear
12:27that, from 200,000 billions up to 430 billions of GDP.
12:34So, you see, we cannot fail.
12:36But to succeed, we've got to invest more.
12:39We must continue to support innovation, and we've got to train and acclimatize users, employees, and citizens.
12:48Of course, I can understand that, in some ways, AI could be scary for our citizens, especially.
12:55But with a touch of humor, I would remind you the words of Albert Einstein, who said,
13:02AI is nothing compared to natural human stupidity.
13:09So, from that point of view, I think we should take it easy for a while, so don't be afraid.
13:14Everything is going to be okay.
13:15So, we're going on, and just yesterday, President Macron announced a review and an acceleration of our national strategy on
13:25AI, with, for example, new supports of Academy AI clusters, or doubling the budget dedicated to AI in our public
13:33investment plant, which is called France 2030.
13:36Our national strategy is now focused on three pillars, AI in deep tech, churning and attraction of talents, and, of
13:45course, development of use cases opened to all.
13:48So, thanks to VivaTech for having chosen AI as the main theme this year.
13:54You will work, all of you, you will work and think during these days about AI, about technology, but also
14:02about AI for good, and about AI with democracy, which is quite important.
14:07This is a great and exciting program, which I'm sure will give us, to the French government, ideas to continue
14:16our policy, and, of course, to prepare the next summit, international summit on AI in Paris, which will stand on
14:24Feb.
14:24To conclude, as you know, we're working, too, on regulation, we need, in digital and in AI, too.
14:32And French position is clear.
14:35Between innovation and regulation, we want both.
14:40Innovation should not be squeezed by regulation.
14:45It's really our mindset.
14:46This allows me to salute the work of the country of the year, the Japan,
14:51who was strongly involved in the reduction of the protocol of Hiroshima, which is a code of conduct for AI
15:00in the world.
15:01I'm delighted that Japan is being honored.
15:04It's a great country of innovation, but also, in this Olympic year, I'm very happy that the relais will also
15:12take place between Tokyo and Paris, here in VivaTech.
15:15I think it's a really beautiful symbol between our two countries.
15:21And to finish, I will quote, of course, le Baron Pierre de Coubertin, Olympic years, and I will quote him
15:28in French, because you know that the French is the official language of Olympics.
15:33And so, le Baron Pierre de Coubertin said, le succès n'est pas un but, mais un moyen de viser
15:39plus haut.
15:40I translate, success is not a goal, but a means to aim higher.
15:44So, enjoy this next day with us in VivaTech.
15:47And don't forget, vive la tech.
15:49Thank you very much.
15:50Bravo.
15:51Merci.
15:51Merci.
15:52So, we have been extremely fortunate since a few years to have a great secrétaire d'Etat or minister on
16:03the numérique.
16:04And with Marina, we will go to the next level, higher, as I would say, farther and faster.
16:14And faster.
16:15And faster.
16:16So, thank you.
16:17You will enjoy.
16:18Have a great VivaTech.
16:20And see you soon.
16:23Merci.
