00:00Welcome back to Novel Studio. Today, we're diving into a record of a mortal's journey to immortality,
00:06immortal realm. This story isn't just about cultivation and power. It teaches us patience,
00:12strategy, survival, and long-term thinking. Hanley's journey shows that true strength comes
00:17not from talent alone, but from caution, intelligence, and persistence. Let's break
00:23down this chapter and uncover the lessons hidden within the path to immortality.
00:28It begins in a vast and barren wilderness where not a single person can be seen. The land is bleak
00:36and yellow, stretching endlessly under a scorching sun that hangs high in the sky,
00:41baking the earth without mercy. The air itself is thick with drifting yellow dust. Aside from
00:48scattered weeds and shrubs, the only visible features across this desolate terrain are
00:53countless. Gray rocks of all shapes and sizes, lying motionless under the oppressive heat.
00:59Into this lifeless landscape, a petite and frail figure gradually comes into view. She is running
01:06forward as fast as she possibly can. The figure is a little girl, no more than six or seven years
01:12old.
01:12She wears a light yellow robe embroidered delicately with pink plum blossoms. Her black hair is tied
01:19neatly into two buns, framing a small face with intricate features, large eyes with bright black
01:25pupils, a petite nose, and red cherry lips. Despite her tender appearance, she is moving with urgency.
01:33Clutched tightly in her right hand is a palm-sized pellet drum. The drum looks old. The drum skin on
01:39both
01:39sides is already yellowed with age, and azure snake designs are carved or painted across its surface.
01:46As she runs, the two pellets, attached by short cord swing, and occasionally, strike the drum head
01:53with audible, clattering sounds. Even at her young age, she is remarkably fast and agile. With just a few
02:01long strides, she reaches a clearing before a patch of tall grass. Grass so long that it stands as high
02:08as an average adult. She is clearly in a desperate hurry. Sweat beads across her fair forehead, and a
02:14thin trail runs down her left cheek to her delicate neck. She wipes it away with her left hand. Her
02:21round
02:21cheeks are flushed red like ripe apples, yet she does not slow down at all. Then, suddenly, a harsh male
02:29voice echoes from the distance. Stop, you little witch. The words strike her like a physical blow.
02:35She shudders violently, and her face turns pale in an instant. Fear overtakes her expression.
02:42Without hesitation, she raises the pellet drum in her right hand and gives it a sharp, vigorous turn.
02:49Her lips flutter slightly as if whispering something under her breath. Immediately, a faint layer of azure
02:55light appears over the drum's surface. As the pellets strike the drum, a burst of azure light erupts
03:01forward, landing on a patch of tall grass in front of her. The grass is instantly coated in a thin
03:07sheen of azure light, but the glow vanishes just as quickly as if nothing has happened. She twists the drum
03:14again and again. With every strike, another burst of azure light shoots out, landing across the tall grass
03:20around her. Each time, the grass flashes with azure brilliance before returning to normal. After several
03:27repetitions, her face grows even paler. The technique is clearly draining her strength.
03:33Yet she doesn't dare pause. She dives headfirst into the tall grass. Not long after, she disappears
03:40into the vegetation. A cloud of dust rises more than a hundred feet away.
03:45A figure speeds forward at incredible velocity and arrives at the edge of the grass. It is a tall and
03:51burly man in his forties, with a coarse beard and a powerful build. In one hand, he holds a shimmering
03:57podau, its blade gleaming ominously under the sun, making him look extremely menacing. His eyes drop to
04:04the ground. There, plainly visible in the dust, is a trail of petite footprints leading straight into the
04:11tall grass. Without hesitation, he raises his podau and charges forward. But at that exact moment,
04:16azure light flashes ahead of him. Five or six long, azure snakes shoot out from the grass,
04:22their serpentine mouths opening wide to reveal sharp fangs as they lunge at him.
04:26The burly man falters slightly and only for a heartbeat. With swift composure, he pulls out a
04:32talisman from his sleeve using his left hand and slaps it onto his body. Instantly, a white light
04:38barrier forms around him. At the same time, he slashes his podau through the air with a loud buzzing
04:43sound. A blade of light several feet long sweeps outward. Three of the azure snakes are sliced
04:48cleanly in half. The remaining snakes collide with the white barrier, unable to break through,
04:54and are immediately cut down by another swing of the podau. In the blink of an eye, all the snakes
05:00are destroyed. Their forms flicker, revealing that they were never real snakes at all. But merely several
05:06bunches of tall grass transformed by illusion. The burly man lets out a cold harumph. He prepares to rush
05:13into the grass, but suddenly his expression shifts. He halts and withdraws his podau.
05:18Rustling sounds rise behind him. Two figures quickly arrive. One is a tall, thin Taoist priest
05:24wearing a slightly tattered gray robe, holding a white horsetail whisk. The other is a short but
05:30well-built man, with a long face marred by bruises and messy, disheveled hair.
05:35Are you all right, fellow Taoists? The burly man asks. The long-faced man replies with irritation,
05:42explaining how the little girl, the daughter of a demonic fox, nearly trapped. Them with her tricks.
05:48He demands to know why the burly man has stopped and where the witch is. Instead of answering,
05:54the burly man points silently to the tall grass and the footprints. The long-faced man immediately wants
06:00to charge in and finish it. But the Taoist priest narrows his eyes and warns them. The girl has been
06:05running for a day and a night. She must be exhausted, and yet she is highly skilled in
06:10wood-attribute illusion techniques. In a field of tall grass, she is like a fish in water.
06:16Charging blindly would be unwise. The long-faced man hesitates, then angrily argues that if they let her
06:23grow up, she could become a far greater menace. The burly man declares righteously that as enforcers of
06:28justice, they cannot allow a demon to escape. He then reveals a strategy. The tall grass covers a
06:34vast area. Searching it blindly would be troublesome. But if they use the fire cloud talisman along with
06:40the wind lure technique, they can burn the entire field quickly. With no grass, she would have nowhere
06:46to hide. The long-faced man reluctantly agrees, but demands the demonic foxes hide in return.
06:52The burly man refuses. She must be captured alive. The Taoist priest reveals why the blood
06:58sword sect has issued a mission. Capture the demonic fox alive, and the reward includes
07:04promotion to intersect disciple, a blood cry pill, and one thousand spirit stones. Hearing this,
07:10negotiations conclude. The spirit stones will be split between the two helpers. The long-faced man
07:15finally pulls out his fire cloud talisman. He stares at it wistfully before tossing it forward and
07:21chanting an incantation. Red light spreads over the talisman before it explodes into a cloud of
07:27crimson flames descending from the sky. The tall grass ignites instantly. Simultaneously,
07:33the Taoist priest chants and sweeps his horsetail whisk. Fierce gusts of wind erupt,
07:38fanning the flames into a roaring sea of fire. Dense black smoke fills the air. Ash flies everywhere.
07:44The trio stares intensely. Over there! The Taoist priest suddenly shouts. He shoots forward like an arrow,
07:51as your light glowing faintly from his whisk. The other two follow. Two to three hundred feet ahead,
07:57the little girl bursts out from the burning grass. Her robe is riddled with holes, her face blackened
08:02with smoke. She had carefully moved through the grass in silence, believing she had escaped detection.
08:08Never expecting they would burn the entire field. Terror floods her face as she runs, coughing violently,
08:14but she does not get far. A cold gust sweeps toward her. Azure threads emerge all around. A whistling
08:21sound follows as a massive black net descends from above. Despair fills her eyes. Then she sees
08:28something. A small, withered tree over a hundred feet ahead. Her eyes light up. She bites down hard on
08:35the tip of her tongue. The Azure threads surge in. The black net falls, and her immobilized body suddenly
08:42disintegrates into azure light, transforming into a small tree. She used a wood substitution technique.
08:48The burly man and Taoist priest's expressions darken instantly. Over there! The long-faced man shouts.
08:55The withered tree ahead blurs, transforming, back into the little girl holding her pellet drum.
09:02She glances back and continues fleeing, but now she is utterly drained. Her face is colorless.
09:07Her steps grow heavy and uneven. She begins stumbling. The distance between her and her
09:13pursuers shrinks rapidly. Suddenly she trips. Over a rock and crashes into a massive gray stone nearly
09:20ten feet tall before, falling to the ground. Why don't you keep running? The long-faced man sneers.
09:26The three men form a triangle, cutting off her escape. Exhausted, she presses her back against the
09:32giant rock and curls into herself, eyes burning with resentment. The long-faced man steps forward,
09:38raising his hand maliciously. He cannot kill her, but he intends to teach her a lesson.
09:44Then, a loud crack echoes. Thin fractures appear across the surface of the giant rock behind her.
09:50Small shards fall onto her head. The men freeze in shock. The cracks spread rapidly like a web.
09:56Chunks begin breaking off. The girl closes her eyes in fear, covering her head.
10:01With a thunderous boom, the entire rock explodes apart. Massive chunks scatter in all directions,
10:07kicking up clouds of dust. The three men retreat instinctively, staring. As the dust settles,
10:12the giant rock is gone. In its place stands a remarkably tall and broad man in an azure robe.
10:18His face and hair are coated in gray rock powder, as if he had been living inside the stone itself.
10:24Beneath the dust, his features are unremarkable, his complexion slightly dark.
10:28His expression is blank, almost dull. Yet he stands taller than even the burly man.
10:34The little girl and the three pursuers all stare at him in stunned disbelief, unable to comprehend
10:39this sudden, impossible turn of events. Right at the moment when the three men are still staring,
10:45in shock at the young man who has emerged from the shattered rock, an excited, trembling voice
10:51suddenly breaks the silence. Brother Rock! The little girl, who had just been cornered and exhausted,
10:58scrambles up from the ground without hesitation. Despite her injuries and fear, she rushes forward and
11:05throws her arms tightly, around the towering young man's leg. Because she is so small, her head only
11:10reaches his waist. Her slender arms wrap around one of his legs as if clinging to the only safe pillar
11:17in the world. Most of her tiny body hides behind him, and she tilts her head upward, looking at him
11:23with large, watery eyes filled with hope. The three men falter when they hear her call.
11:29They exchange bewildered looks, then turn back toward the young man. But what they see deepens
11:34their confusion. He shows absolutely no reaction. He does not comfort her. He does not even glance down
11:40at first. He simply continues staring blankly at the three cultivators, as if nothing around him
11:46matters. A wave of unease spreads through the little girl's heart. She tightens her grip on his
11:51leg and tugs desperately while sobbing. Brother Rock, I've finally found you. Those bad people are
11:58trying to capture Lair. You have to help me beat them! Only then does the young man slightly lower his
12:03head. The girl looks directly into his eyes. They are still completely vacant, empty, hollow,
12:09as if there is no awareness inside. Her heart sinks further. But for the three men, this is good news.
12:16They have already extended their spiritual sense to examine him. There is no trace of magic power
12:21in his body. That leaves only two possibilities. Either he is truly a mortal with no cultivation at
12:27all, or he is concealing his aura using some advanced secret technique or special magic tool,
12:34considering that he emerged from a massive rock and that the demonic fox girl calls him.
12:38Brother Rock? The second possibility? Seems more likely to them. Perhaps he is also a demon.
12:45The Taoist priest rests his horsetail whisk calmly on his arm, his eyes moving back and forth between
12:51the girl and the young man, calculating silently. The long-faced man subtly lowers his raised hand and
12:58steps back toward his companions. Something slips into his left hand from his sleeve. Clearly another
13:04hidden weapon? While his eyes remain fixed on the girl, the burly man gives his companions a
13:09meaningful look then speaks in a steady voice. May I ask your name, fellow Taoist? I am Yan Cheng of
13:15the
13:16Bloodsword Sect. We are working together to capture this demonic fox. If this matter does not concern you,
13:22please leave. The moment the girl hears the words Bloodsword Sect, she grows visibly alarmed. She looks
13:30up at the young man pleadingly. The young man slowly raises his head to face Yan Cheng. His expression is
13:36wooden. He says nothing. A flicker of anger flashes across Yan Cheng's eyes, but he suppresses it and
13:44repeats his words louder. Still no answer. The girl's palms are drenched in sweat as she clings tightly
13:50to the fabric of his pants. The young man remains silent. The long-faced man turns slightly aside and transmits
13:57his voice to his companions. There's something wrong with him. Why waste time here? Why don't we... The Taoist
14:03priest replies through voice transmission, his eyes narrowing slightly. In this area, anyone unmoved by the
14:10name of the Bloodsword Sect is either a complete fool or unfathomably powerful. In any case, he clearly intends to
14:17protect that demon. No one could blame us for killing him. The decision is yours, fellow Taoist Yan.
14:23En Shou nods. A cold light appears in his eyes as he tightens his grip on his po-dao.
14:28Why do you not speak, fellow Taoist? Are you looking down on us? His voice rolls like thunder across the
14:33barren plains, making the surrounding air vibrate. The girl trembles and reflexively releases his leg,
14:40clutching her pellet drum instead. The young man does not react at all. It is as if he is deaf.
14:45Fine, Yan Cheng growls. If you insist on siding with the demonic girl, we'll take you down together.
14:51His po-dao erupts in blinding white light. At the same time, he raises his other hand.
14:57A burst of black light shoots into the air and then descends as a massive black net.
15:01The girl panics and tries to flee, but she is too close. It is too late. The enormous net drops
15:07like a
15:07dark cloud, closing in from every direction and trapping the young man inside. As it tightens,
15:13flashes of light ripple through it. And from every knot emerges a sharp silver hook,
15:18glinting with deadly menace. The girl screams. She bites the tip of her tongue and sprays a
15:24cloud of blood mist onto her pellet. Drum while spinning it frantically. The drum sounds. Azure
15:30light flashes over her body. She instantly disintegrates into a piece of dead wood,
15:34a substitution technique. She reappears more than a hundred feet away, crashing onto the ground.
15:40But she is not unscathed. The hooked spikes from the net tear into her arms and legs as she escapes.
15:46More than a dozen wounds split open and blood pours out. She rolls and struggles to her feet,
15:51takes one shaky step, then collapses again. Her face is deathly pale and she gasps for breath.
15:57She is completely spent. Yancheng does not even spare her a glance. Instead, he forms a hand seal,
16:04and the black net tightens violently around the young man. At the same time,
16:08the Taoist priest leaps into the air and flicks his wrist. A dozen translucent. Flying needles shoot
16:14forth like lightning toward the young man's vital points. Look out! The girl screams helplessly from
16:20the ground. A series of metallic clangs echoes through the air. The needles rebound as if they
16:25struck solid stone. The Taoist priest lands, shocked. Even if the young man were truly made of rock,
16:32those needles should have pierced through him. Suddenly, a streak of golden light
16:36flashes past the priest and strikes. The young man's throat.
16:41What a fool! No one's ever taken my golden wasp spike and… Before the long-faced man can finish,
16:47the golden spike explodes into specks of light. Impossible!
16:51The long-faced man stares as if he has seen a ghost. The burly man is equally incredulous.
16:57The net's hooks can tear through metal, yet they cannot even scratch this young man's skin.
17:02Then, at last, the young man moves. He lowers his head slightly and looks at the net wrapped around
17:08him, as if mildly inconvenienced. He grabs the net with both hands. Spiritual light bursts from
17:15its surface. Then he tears it apart effortlessly like ripping paper. The two halves drift to the
17:20ground. The long-faced man and the Taoist priest are so stunned their eyes nearly pop out. Even the
17:26injured girl stares in astonishment, momentarily forgetting her pain.
17:30How dare you destroy my magic tool?
17:33Yancheng roars, anguish and fury in his voice. The black net was borrowed at a high price from
17:39a fellow sect member. He grits his teeth and extends two fingers. A purple talisman materializes between
17:45them. He throws it into the air while chanting. The talisman flies above the young man and explodes into
17:51a dense black cloud. Thunder rumbles. A silver bolt of lightning, as thick as a bowl, crashes down.
17:57It strikes the young man with a deafening boom. Lightning arcs explode outward, blasting black
18:03craters into the ground. The girl closes her eyes in terror and barely manages to push herself,
18:09backward just enough to avoid the stray arcs. When she opens her eyes again, her mouth falls open.
18:14The young man stands silently amidst scorched craters. Not a single scratch marks his body.
18:21Yancheng's heart trembles, but he does not hesitate. He forms seals rapidly.
18:25Seal! Another bolt descends, but mid-air it transforms into intertwining lightning,
18:31chains that wrap around the young man's body, binding him tightly.
18:35What are you waiting for?
18:37Yancheng roars, charging forward with his po-dao now glowing red.
18:41The long-faced man, initially shocked, now grins and forms a seal. He vanishes like a breeze and
18:48reappears beside the young man, swinging a black metal ruler engraved with flashing runes toward
18:53his shoulder. Meanwhile, the Taoist priest retreats cautiously and releases a crimson sphere from his
19:00sleeve. It circles once and then shoots silently toward the back of the young man's head. Their
19:05coordination is flawless. The young man remains motionless, eyes still vacant.
19:10Yancheng's expression turns elated as he pours more power into his strike.
19:14Then his wrist is seized. A large hand grips him. It feels like steel, like an immovable mountain.
19:21He cannot thrust forward even an inch. No one saw the young man move.
19:26Yancheng struggles, but his arm is locked in place. A cruel smile appears on his face just as the ruler
19:31and
19:31crimson sphere strike. The ruler releases piercing black light. The crimson sphere explodes into thick,
19:37foul-smelling blood mist engulfing the young man's head. The long-faced man laughs triumphantly.
19:43Then heat surges through his hand. A terrifying force travels from the young man's body, through the
19:49metal ruler and into him. No!
19:51He is hurled backward violently. Bones shatter audibly. He crashes to the ground like a broken puppet.
19:58Blood and fragments of organs spilling from his mouth. By the time he stops moving,
20:02his body is riddled with destruction. He is dead. Yancheng stares in disbelief.
20:08Before he can react, the hand gripping his wrist trembles slightly. A strange vibration courses through
20:14his body. Every bone shatters simultaneously. The pain is unbearable. He screams. Then he is hurled
20:21through the air and smashed into a massive rock. His body explodes into minced flesh upon impact.
20:26It all happens in an instant. The Daoist priest turns pale. He frantically slaps multiple talismans
20:33onto himself and tries to flee. He only takes a few steps. The air around him suddenly constricts.
20:38His protective spiritual lights vanish. In the next moment, his body explodes into fragments of
20:45flesh and blood that rain down from the sky, as if crushed by an invisible giant hand. Silence returns to
20:52the barren land. The young man calmly inhales. The dense blood mist around his head is swallowed
20:58into his mouth. His wooden, expressionless face is revealed once more. The little girl stands frozen,
21:04her small mouth hanging, open as she stares at the aftermath of everything that just happened.
21:10Moments ago, three terrifying cultivators from the Bloodsword sect had nearly captured her. Now all three are
21:17dead, crushed, shattered, obliterated in the blink of an eye. Her eyes slowly drift over the remains.
21:24The burly man lies mangled at the base of a giant gray rock, his body twisted and broken beyond
21:30recognition. Dozens of feet away, the long-faced man's corpse resembles a heap of ruined sludge.
21:36Bones and flesh no longer distinguishable. As for the Daoist priest, there is barely anything left.
21:41His body had exploded under a distant punch, leaving only scraps of flesh and blood scattered
21:47across the barren ground. The little girl's expression is blank at first. Then suddenly,
21:52her legs give out. She collapses onto the ground and tears begin to stream down her face. At first,
21:59she sobs quietly. But as memories surge through her mind, her crying grows louder and louder,
22:05until her wailing echoes across the empty plains like a mournful lament.
22:09A heart-breaking cry that seems to accuse the Heavens themselves of injustice.
22:14After an unknown stretch of time, the crying stops abruptly. The little girl slowly stands again.
22:20Her hands clench into tight fists. The soot and blood on her delicate face have been washed away by
22:25tears, revealing her fragile features once more. But now something has changed in her eyes. There is
22:32resolve. Without warning, she rushes toward the massive gray rock ahead. At its base lies the burly
22:38man's mangled corpse in a pool of blood. He is unquestionably dead. Nearby, the long-faced man's
22:44ruined body lies sprawled across the earth. The little girl leaps forward. Azure nails several
22:50inches long suddenly extend from her fingers. With a fierce cry, she slashes downward. Her claws
22:55whistle through the air, sending out streak after. Streak of azure claw projections that rip. Into the
23:01burly man's remains, flesh and blood scatter, in all directions as is already. Destroyed body is torn
23:08into an even more unrecognizable mass. Yet it still isn't enough. She opens her mouth and exhales a
23:14burst of green flames. The fire engulfs the remains and reduces them to ashes. Then she moves to the
23:20long-faced man's corpse and repeats the same brutal process. Tearing, shredding, burning, until nothing
23:28remains but charred dust. Only then does she finally stop. Her knees buckle again and she collapses onto
23:35her backside, panting heavily. She has just exhausted the tiny bit of magic power her body had barely
23:40recovered. After a moment to steady herself, she turns toward a certain direction and kneels.
23:46In a trembling but determined voice, she murmurs,
23:50Dada! Mama! Big brother! Big sister! One of those foul bandits from the Bloodsword sect is finally
23:57dead. I wasn't the one who killed him. But a little justice has finally been served for what they did
24:03to
24:03you. Her small fists tighten. As long as I'm still alive, one day, I'll go to Bloodlight Mountain and
24:09erase the Bloodsword sect from this world. Tears well up in her eyes again, but this time she forces them
24:15back. I won't cry anymore. Dada always said crybabies never grow up. I have to grow up faster. It takes
24:22her a long time to suppress the sobs threatening to burst free. Finally, she stands again and glances,
24:28toward the storage bags left, behind by the three dead cultivators. Disgust flickers in her eyes.
24:35But after hesitating briefly, she walks over and collects them anyway. As the sun begins to sink
24:40westward, the sky dims. The wind grows stronger, howling across the barren land as the temperature
24:46drops. Surrounded by emptiness, the little girl begins to feel afraid. Instinctively, she inches
24:53closer to the only other living person present, the young man. After throwing that final distant punch
24:59that obliterated the Taoist priest, he has returned to stillness. He stands where he is, wooden and
25:06motionless, staring blankly at his own feet, as though unaware of everything the little girl just did.
25:12Brother Rock! She calls softly, hesitant to approach too closely. No response.
25:18Brother Rock, my name is Liu Leher. Thank you for killing those three bad people, even though you're
25:23human. Dada said there are good humans, too. At last he reacts slightly. He lifts his head. His pupils
25:30reflect her small figure. For the briefest instant, a faint gleam seems to flash across his vacant eyes,
25:37but it fades just as quickly. Still, his gaze remains fixed on her. Startled, Liu Leher takes a
25:45few hurried steps backward. But he does nothing. He simply stares at her, unmoving like a statue.
25:51Relief washes over her. She becomes even more convinced that something is wrong with his mind.
25:56Gradually gathering courage, she steps closer and examines him carefully. Now that she isn't
26:02panicking, she can see him clearly. He is tall and broad-shouldered, with long, slender fingers.
26:07His physique is not overly muscular, yet it gives off the impression of containing boundless strength.
26:14His eyes are dazed and hollow, but his pupils are unbelievably black. So deep they seem capable of
26:20swallowing a person's soul if stared into for too long. His exposed skin is slightly dark and
26:26unbelievably smooth. Despite the brutal battle, not a single scratch mars his body. Even his
26:32simple azure robes remain completely undamaged. And she remembers clearly. He swallowed that cloud
26:38of blood mist as if it were nothing. There is no way he is mortal. No mortal could casually kill
26:43three cultivators wielding magic tools. The more she looks at him, the more relaxed she becomes.
26:49Her childish curiosity resurfaces. She circles around him, studying him from every angle.
26:54Throughout it all, his gaze follows her. As though something about her has caught his attention.
27:00Perhaps because he saved her life. Perhaps because he killed her tormentors. But the longer
27:05she looks at him, the closer she feels to him. Then she notices something. Peeking out from behind
27:10his collar is a small, dark, green accessory. Translucent and glittering faintly. She cannot
27:17tell what it is. She wants to lift his robe slightly to inspect it. But she doesn't dare.
27:22At that moment, the wind intensifies. Dark clouds rapidly blanket the sky. The surroundings grow
27:28dimmer and dimmer. A bolt of lightning splits the heavens, illuminating everything in a blinding flash.
27:34Followed by a thunderclap that shakes the earth. Heavy rain pours down.
27:39Ah! Liu Lair cries out instinctively and rushes toward him, wrapping her arms around his leg as her
27:45body trembles. As a demonic fox, she has an innate fear of natural lightning. Once again,
27:50a faint gleam flickers in the young man's eyes. He bends slightly, using his large frame to shield
27:56her from the rain and wind. Whether this is intentional or instinctive is unclear. But his
28:01body blocks the storm for her. Warmth wells up in Liu Lair's heart. Suddenly she is no longer afraid of
28:07thunder or lightning. The feeling is like being protected in her father's arms. The storm passes
28:13as quickly as it came. The dark clouds disperse and the fresh scent of rain fills the air. Giggling
28:19softly, Liu Lair shakes the water from herself. Then grabs his hand and brushes rain droplets from
28:25his robe. She notices something strange. The water forms beads on his azure clothes and rolls off.
28:32Unable to soak in, just like droplets on a lotus leaf. As always, he shows no reaction.
28:38Brother Rock, you still haven't told me your name, she says. Tugging gently at his arm and coaxing him
28:44to sit, he slowly sits down. Silent. Why are you here, Brother Rock? That punch you threw was so
28:50strong. Can you teach me? Brother Rock. She keeps talking, trying different ways to make him respond.
28:57But no matter what she says, he remains silent and expressionless. Disappointment crosses her face.
29:04After a moment of silence, she suddenly makes up her mind. Grabbing his large hand, she says earnestly,
29:10Brother Rock, I don't know who you are, but you killed someone from the- Bloodsword sect. It's-
29:16Safer if you leave with me? Though his eyes are still dazed. Her exaggerated gestures seem to help
29:22him understand. Finally. He follows her. Dusk settles fully. The setting sun paints the sky
29:29blood-red, casting golden light over the barren plains. One tall figure and one small figure walk
29:34toward the horizon. The wind carries Liu Laere's cheerful voice across the land. Brother Rock,
29:40you're really strong. But there are lots more bad people in the Bloodsword sect. It's getting late.
29:46You must be hungry, right? When we leave this place, I'll catch some wild birds and roast them for you.
29:52I'm a really good cook, Brother Rock. From now on, I'll treat you like my real brother. High in a
29:58primitive mountain forest, glacial winds howl without pause. Heavy snow blankets everything in pure white.
30:04Even though the sun has not fully set, the forest is already dim beneath the thick snowfall.
30:10A winding mountain path, barely visible even in clear weather, has completely vanished under the
30:16snow. And yet at the very end of the mountain trail, a small flame flickers stubbornly against
30:22the cold. The fire burns inside the only mountain god shrine in the entire forest. Because the shrine
30:28is so remote and difficult to reach, it has long since been abandoned. The gatehouse and courtyard
30:33walls have collapsed. Only a dilapidated main hall remains, standing alone amid the wind and snow.
30:40The doors are gone, replaced by a tattered straw mat hanging over the entrance, barely keeping out
30:46the freezing air. Through the holes in that straw mat one can see the interior. Weeds and scattered
30:51stones litter the empty hall. And seated cross-legged on the ground is a tall, broad young man dressed in
30:58an azure robe. Even while sitting, his back is perfectly straight. His face, however, is wooden and
31:04expressionless. Almost identical to the crumbling mountain. God statue positioned behind him. His
31:10arms hang naturally downward. And within the cradle formed by his arms lies Liu Lair. At that moment,
31:17a faint moan escapes from his chest area. Liu Lair shifts in her sleep. She rubs her small head against
31:23his arm. Her face peeking out slightly from the crook of his elbow. Her delicate features are flushed,
31:29unnaturally red. Though asleep, her brows are tightly furrowed. Tears stream continuously from
31:35beneath her closed eyelids. She is clearly trapped in a nightmare. No, don't. Her fingers tighten
31:42reflexively around his arm. One of her legs slips free from his embrace, kicking outward. She twists
31:48restlessly, suffering from whatever terror fills her dream, before burying her face back into his
31:54chest. The young man has been staring straight ahead. But now, sensing her movement, he lowers his head
32:00slightly to look at her. A faint trace of confusion appears in his vacant eyes, though most of their
32:06emptiness remains. Brother Rock, she murmurs faintly in her sleep. The firelight flickers across his face.
32:13For a brief moment, his features soften. A subtle spark glimmers within his dark pupils. Without
32:19standing, he slowly pivots his seated body so that his back now faces the shrine entrance,
32:25shielding her from the wind. Gently, he tucks her leg back into his arms and tightens his hold around
32:31her just a little. She wiggles once more. Then she nestles deeper into his chest. Gradually,
32:37her breathing steadies. The nightmare fades. Outside night fully descends. The wind and snowfall
32:43lessen slightly. Uh, another scene unfolds. Halfway up a lush mountain more than a thousand feet tall stands.
32:50A massive cave entrance over thirty feet high. In front of it, the tall, azure-robed young man stands
32:57with his back toward the cave. Behind him, Lulaire clutches. The corner of his robe with one hand
33:03while wrapping the other arm around his leg. Half her face peeks out from behind him, pale with fear.
33:09Dozens of feet ahead stands a monstrous grey bear. The beast towers more than twice the height of an
33:14adult human. It balances on its hind legs, forepaws raised threateningly. A jagged horn juts from its head.
33:21Its lips curl back to reveal rows of sharp fangs. And thick, foul drool drips from its mouth as it
33:27snarls. Though the young man is imposing by ordinary standards, he appears small in comparison. Yet he
33:34shows no fear. He simply stares blankly at the giant beast with his ink-black lusterless eyes.
33:40After several seconds of staring back, something strange happens. A human-like flicker of fear appears
33:46in the bear's expression. It lets out a low roar. Then it takes several hesitant steps backward,
33:52drops onto all fours, and flees. Lulaire exhales in relief. Scratching her head in confusion,
33:59she steps around to look up at the young man's face. But even after staring for a long while,
34:04she finds no change in his wooden expression. Brother Rock, I know you're not ordinary.
34:09It's such a pity you can't speak. If only you could talk to me.
34:13She sighs dramatically. Far too mature a sigh for a child her age. Then grabs his hand and leads him
34:21into the cave. He says nothing. But his gaze lowers briefly to the delicate hand holding,
34:27his own before allowing himself to be guided inside.
34:31Uh, time passes. On a vast grassland in the height of spring, new green shoots push through the earth.
34:37The air carries the fresh fragrance of grass. Lulaire, now around eight or nine years old,
34:43sits atop the young man's shoulders. In her hands are thin vines dotted with small yellow flowers.
34:49The young man has not changed at all. He still wears the same azure robe, but Lulaire has grown taller.
34:56The childish roundness of her face has begun to fade. A rare hint of gentle allure already glimmers in her
35:02eyes. The kind that suggests she will one day grow into breathtaking beauty. Her fingers move swiftly as
35:09she weaves the flowering vines, humming a cheerful tune as crisp and sweet as a yellow warbler's song.
35:15Done! Before finishing her melody, she completes a beautiful floral wreath.
35:20She examines it proudly from every angle, then places it carefully atop his head.
35:25The wreath fits perfectly. The densest cluster of flowers resting above his forehead. He senses the
35:32movement. He reaches up and lightly touches the wreath before withdrawing his hand. She is used to
35:37his muted reactions. Then her gaze shifts downward to the thin green string around his neck. A mischievous
35:44grin spreads across her face. She quickly grabs the string and tries to lift the dark green accessory
35:51attached to it. But instantly, as if by instinct, he grips the accessory himself, refusing to let it go.
35:58You do this every time, Brother Rock. Why are you so stingy? I just want to look at it.
36:03She puffs, cheeks bulging. She isn't truly angry. Over the past two years, he has never spoken.
36:10Aside from faint responses to outside stimuli, the only time he reacts meaningfully is when that dark green
36:16accessory is touched. And so she teases him with it from time to time. Years pass like flowing water.
36:23Now, a beautiful young woman of thirteen or fourteen walks energetically along a yellow sand.
36:29Official road. She wears a white dress and light grey boots. Her black hair flows to her waist.
36:35Her hands are clasped behind her back as she strides forward. Behind her walks the tall,
36:40broad man in azure robes, still wearing that same wooden expression. Though she walks faster,
36:46his longer stride keeps him close behind. In the distance rises a mighty grey city at the end of
36:52the road. Countless people move through its gates, appearing tiny from afar. She slows to a stop.
36:59Far bright city, she murmurs after staring for a long time. He comes to stand beside her,
37:05also gazing at the city. Looks like a major human city, she says quietly. Hesitation flickering
37:11across her face. During the past five years, they have entered several human towns and cities seeking
37:18a cure for his strange condition, but never one this large. Brother Rock, if we cure you,
37:25you'll help me take revenge, right? It is unclear whether she is asking him or herself. He seems to
37:30react slightly. His gaze shifts from the city to her, but he says nothing. A bleak thought crosses
37:36her mind. Even if Brother Rock is strong, how could he defeat the entire Bloodsword sect? Her shoulders
37:43droop. Tears fall silently onto the yellow sand. Then, she feels warmth atop her head. She looks up.
37:51The young man is gently stroking her hair. There is warmth in his eyes. For reasons she cannot explain,
37:57that simple gesture fills her with courage. It feels as if no hardship in the world could frighten her
38:02now. She wipes away her tears. With one hand gripping his larger one, she steps forward toward
38:08the distant city gates, her expression firm and resolute. Far bright city was the third largest
38:14city in the prosperous nation. Built upon an immense plain, the city covered more than 100 kilometers in
38:21area. To its south flowed a great river, allowing both land and water transport to thrive. Because of
38:27this strategic location, trade flourished, merchants gathered. And the city prospered
38:32into a bustling center of human civilization. At this moment, a long queue stretched outside the
38:38city gate. The scene was loud and lively, filled with merchants, travelers, farmers, and carriages
38:45waiting their turn to enter. Liu Lair gripped Liu, Shura's hand tightly as she led him forward through the
38:50crowd. Every so often she nervously glanced upward. Several dozen feet above the gate hung an octagonal
38:57copper mirror. Under the midday sun, the eight trigrams engraved upon its surface glowed faintly,
39:03radiating a sense of upright, righteous energy. This was clearly no ordinary mirror. Entry into the
39:09city required only a fee. The inspection process appeared lax, but the true scrutiny came from that
39:15mirror. When it was finally their turn, the two of them stepped beneath the gate. The moment they
39:21stood directly under the octagonal mirror, an indescribable force enveloped them both. Liu Lair
39:27stiffened slightly and lowered her head, anxiety flickering across her face. Beside her, Liu Shu
39:33stared up at the mirror blankly. For a split second, a faint blue glimmer flashed through his inky black
39:39pupils. No one noticed. And the mirror showed no reaction. A middle-aged guard lazily looked them
39:46over. Where are you from? Why are you entering the city? Liu Lair immediately brightened her expression.
39:52We're from Liu Clan Village, about 150 kilometers northwest of here. My name is Liu Lair, and this is
39:59my brother. Liu Shu, we're here to visit relatives and to treat my brother's condition. Over the past five
40:05years, they had interacted with others occasionally, so for convenience, she had given the young man
40:11the name Liu Shi. She discreetly handed over a small pouch of copper coins, slightly more than the
40:17required entry fee. The guard's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. He slipped the excess coins into his
40:24pocket without hesitation and gave. Liu Shi one extra glance before waving them through. You don't look
40:30like troublemakers. Go on in. Liu Lair thanked him quickly and hurried into the city, leading Liu Shi
40:36along. Only after turning several corners and reaching, a secluded spot far from the gate did.
40:42She finally slowed down and exhaled deeply in relief. After ensuring no one was nearby, she withdrew a small
40:48azure jade talisman. It's a good thing Dada gave me this aura concealment talisman. Otherwise, the demon-spotting
40:55mirror would have exposed me. The jade talisman was about two inches long and two centimeters wide.
41:01Azure patterns formed a complex array across its surface, and gentle light flowed over it like
41:06rippling water. A trace of sorrow passed through her eyes as she looked at it. She carefully put it away.
41:13Turning past two more alleyways, they stepped onto the main street. The road was wide enough for three
41:19horse-drawn carriages side by side. Countless shops lined both sides as far as the eye could see.
41:26Unlike what she expected, most buildings were wooden rather than brick. Few exceeded even one
41:31hundred feet in height. Yet each structure was intricately crafted, showing exquisite workmanship.
41:36This was the largest city Liu Lair had ever seen. The crowd pressed around her, and she instinctively
41:43moved closer to Liu Shi, uneasy among so many humans. But no one paid them any attention. Gradually,
41:50her tension eased. Curiosity replaced fear. Look over there, Brother Rock. That's sugar-coated hawes.
41:57I've heard they're really delicious. She pointed excitedly toward a stall. The bustling marketplace
42:02reflected in Liu. She's black eyes. But his expression did not change. She was about to drag him toward the
42:09stall. But when she looked into his vacant gaze, her excitement dimmed. She remembered why they had
42:15come. Tightening her grip on his hand, she said earnestly, Don't worry. Brother Rock, this city is
42:23huge. There must be a doctor who can cure you. A faint flicker passed through his eyes. They ate a
42:29quick meal at a roadside stall. After asking around, Liu Lair obtained the addresses of two nearby medical
42:35clinics. To the west stood the Li, family clinic, a century-old, establishment with a strong reputation.
42:43Inside, a middle-aged man in an azure robe sat on a wooden chair, three fingers resting on Liu Shi's
42:50wrist. Liu Lair stood anxiously nearby. The doctor was Li Changqing, heir to the Li family clinic,
42:57practicing medicine for over twenty years. After a long examination, he withdrew his hand.
43:02Your brother's pulse is strong and steady. His energy is abundant and balanced. Physically,
43:07he is in exceptional condition. When did this issue begin? Was there any external cause?
43:13Liu Lair shook her head. We were separated for many years. I don't know when it happened.
43:19Li Changqing stroked his beard with regret. If I do not know the cause, I cannot prescribe treatment.
43:24Forgive me, I lack the skill to help.
43:27Is there truly no way? She asked urgently. He shook his head. Disappointment filled her eyes.
43:34She bowed politely and left with Liu Shi. After walking some distance, she forced herself to speak
43:39brightly. There are many clinics in the city. We'll try them all. Liu Shi smiled faintly.
43:45Whether he understood was unclear. They visited another. Grander clinic with gray walls and black tiles,
43:52far more luxurious than the first. An hour later, they emerged again, disappointed.
43:57It's all right, she said, though her voice carried strain. There are more. By day's end,
44:03they had visited nearly every clinic in the city. None could help. Uh, in the north stood the wild
44:09chrysanthemum clinic. They exited slowly. Liu Lair stared at the ground, fiddling with her dress hem.
44:16Though not the largest clinic, it was known for handling rare illnesses. Even they had failed
44:22to diagnose Liu Shi. Wait, little girl. An elderly man in azure robes hurried after them.
44:28It was Dr. Liu who had just examined Liu Shi. Hope sparked in her eyes. Did you discover something?
44:35He nodded. After examining him, I consulted some records. His symptoms do not resemble ordinary mental
44:42illness. It appears more like a curse. Or a restriction planted upon him that has injured
44:47his soul. Her heart sank. This is beyond ordinary physicians, the doctor continued. Only immortal
44:54doctors skilled in soul techniques might treat him. As for his inability to speak, physically he is fine.
45:01Once his soul is restored, his voice will return. Silence followed. She forced a smile.
45:07Thank you, doctor. He returned to the clinic. As they walked away, her thoughts grew heavy.
45:13So Brother Rock's soul was harmed. As a demonic fox, even at her young age,
45:18she understood certain cultivation matters. She had already suspected soul damage. But seeking a
45:24cultivator proficient in soul arts meant seeking someone extremely powerful. Would her aura concealment
45:30talisman withstand such scrutiny? She had hoped she was wrong. Now her fears were confirmed.
45:35Lost in thought, she walked forward. Suddenly, chaos erupted ahead.
45:40Move! A horse beast is out of control! Panic exploded across the street. A silver carriage hurtled
45:47forward, pulled by a scaled, azure horse-like beast. The creature galloped wildly, eyes bloodshot,
45:54froth flying from its fanged mouth. The carriage swayed violently. The driver pulled desperately on the
46:00reins, face pale with terror. And it was charging straight toward them.
46:04Liu Lair froze for a fraction of a second before trying to drag Liu Shi aside. But it was too
46:09late.
46:10A foul stench filled the air. Within a blink, the rampaging beast, close to within ten feet of them,
46:17so close, she could see the white foam splattering from between its sharp fangs.
46:23Liu Lair tried to activate her ability to stop the charging, horse-like beast. But panic disrupted the
46:29flow of magic in her body. Her power would not circulate properly. Fear seized her, and she cried
46:34out in alarm. At that critical moment, a shadow suddenly covered her. Liu Shi had stepped in front
46:40of her. Without hesitation, he moved like lightning, grabbing the thick neck of the beast with one hand.
46:47Twisting his body sideways, he collided head-on with it. A deafening thump exploded through the street.
46:52The enormous beast, which had been charging at terrifying speed, stopped instantly, as if it had
46:59crashed into an immovable mountain. The tremendous momentum shattered several hard stone slabs beneath
47:05its hooves. The carriage behind it was still driven forward by inertia. It slammed into the beast's rear,
47:11then was flung several feet aside before crashing heavily onto the ground. The carriage did not overturn,
47:17but its frame warped badly, pieces of wood breaking off and scattering across the street. The coach
47:23driver was nearly thrown off from the violent impact. But Liu Shi did not move. He stood rooted
47:28in place as if nailed to the earth. The surrounding crowd stared in shock. Even someone inside a nearby
47:34tea house let out a stunned exclamation. Liu Lair pressed a hand to her chest, her heart still racing.
47:40As she looked at Liu Shi's back, warmth filled her eyes. For years, whenever danger appeared,
47:46he would instinctively shield her. Though not related by blood, their bond was no weaker than
47:51that of true siblings. The azure horse-beast, having been stopped so abruptly, grew even more furious.
47:57It neighed wildly, lowered its head, and charged again, this time straight at Liu Shi's chest.
48:04"'Brother Rock, look out!' Liu Lair shouted. Liu Shi remained expressionless.
48:09His hand locked firmly around the beast's neck. Then he pressed downward. The beast's legs buckled
48:15instantly. Its massive body slammed to its knees, crushing and shattering all the stone slabs beneath
48:21it. It felt as though a mountain were pressing down on its bones, threatening to break them apart.
48:27The madness in its eyes vanished, replaced by fear. Faced with strength far beyond its own,
48:33the beast finally surrendered. It sat back on its haunches, trembling,
48:37no longer daring to move. The crowd erupted in disbelief. That beast charged with at least two
48:43tons of force. And he stopped it with his bare hands. Whose carriage was that? Driving recklessly
48:49through a busy market like this. If he hadn't stepped in, people could have died. Only then did
48:55everyone truly grasp how serious the situation had been. Meanwhile, Liu Shi released the beast's neck
49:01calmly and returned to his blank, silent state. Even after being freed, the beast continued panting
49:08heavily, too terrified to stand. "'Are you all right, Brother Rock?' Liu Lair rushed to examine him.
49:15Seeing he was completely unharmed, she finally relaxed. The coach driver, pale as paper, collapsed
49:21weakly onto the damaged carriage. All his strength drained now that the crisis had passed. At that moment,
49:27the carriage door burst open. Two young men stepped out, both pale from fright. The first appeared
49:32around twenty years old. Handsome, dressed in a white scholar's robe. The second looked seventeen or
49:39eighteen, with jade-like skin, sharp black and white eyes, red lips, white teeth, and elegant features.
49:45He wore a long white robe with a jade belt and jade hat, a pigeon egg-sized jewel embedded in
49:51it. Carrying far
49:53more grace and presence than his companion. The scholar-robed young man, still shaken, snatched the
49:58whip and began beating the coach driver furiously. "'You useless trash! I almost died in there!'
50:05Each strike left bloody marks, but the driver did not dare resist. He knelt and kowtowed repeatedly,
50:11begging forgiveness. "'Quiet! They're from the U Manor!'
50:14"'Stop talking, and this isn't our business!' The crowd immediately fell silent.
50:18Fear replaced outrage. Just as the whip was about to fall again, the younger white-robed man stepped
50:25forward and grabbed, his companion's wrist. "'Let it go, brother! Azure windhorses are low-grade
50:31demon beasts, wild and hard to tame. This isn't entirely his fault.' His voice was calm and pleasant.
50:38The scholar-robed man snorted but threw the whip aside. The coach driver immediately kowtowed toward
50:44the younger man. "'Thank you, young master!' The white-robed youth handed him a bag of silver.
50:50"'Compensate anyone harmed and repair any damage. If you handle it well, you'll avoid harsher punishment.'
50:55The driver nodded repeatedly and hurried off. Then the white-robed youth turned toward Liu Shi,
51:02cupped his fist respectfully, and smiled. "'Thank heavens you are here to subdue the azure windhorse.
51:07It would not matter much if my brother and I were injured, but harming innocent people would
51:13have been unforgivable.' The scholar-robed brother also offered a salute, though half-heartedly,
51:19looking at Liu Shi's simple azure robe and ordinary appearance with slight disdain.
51:24Liu Shi said nothing. His empty gaze remained unchanged. The scholar-robed youth bristled at,
51:30being ignored but was stopped again, by his companion. The white-robed young man studied Liu Shi more
51:36carefully, noticing the strange vacancy in his eyes. More people gathered around. Feeling uneasy,
51:42Liu Leher tugged Liu Shi's sleeve. "'Let's go, Brother Rock!'
51:46"'Please wait,' the white-robed youth called gently. "'What do you want?' Liu Leher asked,
51:52trying to appear fierce. "'My name is Yu Chi. The carriage belongs to our manor.'
51:57"'I sincerely apologize.' "'It's fine. Move aside. If your brother hadn't acted,
52:02the consequences would have been severe. Please allow us to repay you. The Yu Manor is nearby.'
52:08"'There's no need.' "'We have other important matters.'
52:11"'Yu Chi stepped in front of them again. Are those important matters related to seeking
52:16treatment for your brother?' Liu Leher froze. "'How did you know?'
52:21"'I have a sensitive nose. You carry the scent of medicine from the nearby wild chrysanthemum clinic.
52:27Your brother's strength is extraordinary, yet his eyes suggest a mental or spiritual condition.'
52:32His smile carried a subtle charm. Liu Leher was briefly distracted but regained clarity when she looked
52:39at Liu Shi's calm expression. "'Our Yu family has strong connections in Farbright City,'
52:45Yu Chi continued. "'We even have an immortal guest elder skilled in medicine.' At the mention of an
52:51immortal doctor, hope ignited in her eyes. He is far superior to ordinary physicians. In this city,
52:57none would dare claim greater medical skill. After hesitation, Liu Leher agreed. "'We'll go.'
53:03"'But if he cannot cure my brother, we leave immediately.' Yu Chi smiled. "'Of course.' She introduced
53:10herself and Liu Shi. The scholar-robed brother objected, questioning the decision, but Yu Chi waved
53:16him off confidently. Soon, armed guards arrived and bowed deeply. The crowd scattered in fear. Yu Chi
53:23calmly instructed them to handle the carriage quietly. The azure windhorse was pulled to its feet and led
53:29away. Then Yu Chi invited Liu Leher and Liu Shi to follow him. From a distant corner, two figures
53:35watched. A black-robed young man with narrow eyes smirked. "'Interesting.'
53:40"'Isn't that the girl the Prime Minister wants to send to the Cold Flame sect? I hear she has good

53:50"'Be careful.' The Yu Manor House's wandering cultivators.

54:10always arrogant. In the next instant, both figures blurred and vanished. This scene teaches us three
54:16important lessons. True strength shows itself in moments of crisis, not in words. Loyalty is proven
54:23by action, not by blood relation. Power attracts attention, both good and dangerous. Sometimes saving
54:28someone creates new opportunities. Sometimes it also creates new enemies. Wisdom is knowing that
54:34every action has consequences." And that concludes today's chapter explanation of, uh, a record of a
54:40mortal's journey to immortality. Immortal realm. Every step Han Lee takes reminds us that success is
54:46built on preparation, discipline, and calm decision-making under pressure. Cultivation in this
54:52world mirrors real life. Growth takes time, and survival requires wisdom. If you enjoyed this
54:58explanation and learned something valuable, don't forget to like and subscribe. See you in the next chapter on
