00:10gustavo was our tour guide he picked us up from the hotel right on time we stopped at a cafe
00:16about
00:17an hour into our trip for coffee and breakfast he was patient with us while eating the road to
00:23the lake has a lot of curves bumps and traffic however gustavo was able to navigate the roads
00:30with no issues if you are prone to motion sickness i would recommend taking medicine beforehand
00:37once we arrived at the lake we were able to use the restroom at a restaurant that you will
00:43eventually eat at for lunch the views were breathtaking and a perfect photo stop on the
00:49rooftop the boat that we rode was clean it is about a 20 to 25 minute lake ride to the
00:55town
00:56our first stop was a shop where the local woman would weave clothes and other items
01:01the presentation was brief but very nice and informative i truly enjoyed it then we were
01:09able to roam the town on our own for about an hour there are many little shops and some restaurants
01:15and bars even though some stores accept credit card some of the machines were not working and a
01:22service fee would be added so it's best to bring cash we later met up with gustavo at a meeting
01:30point
01:30then walked to the dock to take the boat back to the restaurant across the lake my only complaint would
01:36be to give the tourists different lunch options at the restaurant was quite expensive i would recommend
01:43this tour to future tourists any visit to guatemala should include a trip to panahachal lake atitlon
01:51surrounded by three magnificent volcanoes and san juan which you reach by boat 45 minutes offering a
01:58splendid view from the middle of the lake don't forget to ask the captain to stop for a while so
02:04you can
02:04admire the beauty of the place and film and photograph the volcanoes the weather can obviously be a factor but
02:12the
02:12visit is still enjoyable san juan is a charming colorful little town with its own chocolate museum
02:20the journey from guatemala city is long about seven hours but it's well worth it davis our guide was also
02:29our driver he was knowledgeable and friendly highly recommended our first full day in guatemala was
02:38beautiful we enjoyed a private tour to lago de atitlon we cruised on a private launch from panahachal across
02:46the beautiful lake and saw volcán san pedro volcán atitlon and volcano toilemon our guide luis was
02:55incredibly impressive and knowledgeable he took the time to learn our interests to tailor our experiences
03:01we met with artisanal weavers enjoyed learning from artisanal chocolate makers and connected with a
03:08local curandera to explore her herbal medicinal jardin we are grateful to luis for his energy and in sharing
03:16his passion of guatemala with us we had an amazing time i traveled with my father and we both loved
03:24the
03:24beauty of the lago atitlon it is very unique and beautiful the boat ride was amazing and our guide
03:31gustavo was the best he was extremely friendly helpful and went above and beyond to make sure
03:38we were having a great time and providing information as we went the only thing is that it is a
03:44very long
03:45drive on our way back the traffic to get into guatemala city was crazy we left around three and arrived
03:53to
03:53guatemala around seven just something to be mindful of other than that would definitely recommend
04:01we've been to panahachal and lake atitlon in the past this is the first time that we booked a boat
04:08tour
04:08over to san juan la laguna taking the boat across was the fastest way between the two our group decided
04:16to spend three hours in san juan rather than two with one hour in panahachal the street
04:22decorations and mural paintings are incredible you can also buy completely handmade fabric goods that
04:29they make there in the town from the cotton trees thanks to detailed evidence-based knowledge of our
04:36guide gustavo morale as we not only enjoyed the beautiful nature but learned very interesting things
04:43the locals were very friendly and in the cooperative of the village they explained to us the production
04:48process of the cotton and coffee the food was excellent and during the return trip gustavo further explained to us
