00:09guide was on time and was friendly and knowledgeable throughout the trip
00:13we started with a tour in the historic district to see a few different important buildings and
00:19learn more about the historic district as it was holy week there were processions happening
00:24and our guide was very accommodating to get us to a spot where we could witness part of
00:29a procession which was very interesting traffic getting out of the city to head to pakaya was
00:35very busy but our guide navigated it very well and stopped at a highway rest stop so we could use
00:41an atm to grab money for renting horses to take us up the volcano once we arrived at pakaya we
00:48were
00:48swarmed by mostly children wanting us to rent their horse so we deferred to our guide to arrange this
00:55horses were 300q round trip each and a person walks up with each horse our guide also arranged an
01:03official pakaya guide for us and waited for us at the bottom we were grateful for horses to take us
01:09up as the trail has a lot of loose hardened lava rock it was also quite cool so light jackets
01:15slash
01:16sweaters are helpful to have there are a couple washrooms at various parts of the trail
01:22we went as far up as the horses would take us and enjoyed delicious pizza cooked on volcanic rock
01:29we were given the option of roasting marshmallows but passed on that we chose not to track to the
01:36very top of the volcano as visibility was low and there is no longer any active lava flow
01:41overall it was a neat experience we were picked up where we were staying right on time
01:49our guide esteban driving us was friendly and knowledgeable when we arrived he introduced us
01:56to our guide that walked usb up the mountain this guide was also friendly and patient the hike was
02:03quite steep i would refoam and bringing plenty of water and snacks for the way up for the climb horses
02:10are also available separately and can be engaged on site at the trailhead if desired my family who took
02:18the horse ride up had a good experience once at the end of the hike you are introduced to the
02:24lava store
02:24which sells jewelry and mementos made with volcanic rock afterwards we enjoyed a pizza included with the
02:32tour with the volcano as a background please note that you do not hike to the top of the volcano
02:39but you do get a good view see picture after hiking down guide that drove us there took us to
02:46the city center
02:46and gave us s brief walking tour of the palacio nacional and a couple of other points of historical interest
02:54afterwards we were dropped off back at where we were staying it was a fun experience and a great
03:00boy to spend the day with pure family from pickup to drop off this tour exceeded expectations and was an
03:08amazing
03:09experience each driver and guide along the way was knowledgeable friendly and hospitable we got picked up and
03:17transported to pacaya volcano from our hotel in guatemala city although traffic was a nightmare trends and driver made
03:25trip tolerable and was all forgotten upon setting out on volcano hike we had tour guide franklin who was
03:32awesome and hike along lava fields and views from pacaya were breathtaking note if you aren't in shape hike can
03:40be challenging anderson made a killer pizza at rest stop from their return to gc where guide touched upon
03:48key spots along 6 av before return to hotel can't say enough about this experience except it's a must do
