02:01Reactions, a new TV show with your host Raul Morales. Let's watch this Slam Dunk Contest.
02:06Each dunker gets 90 seconds, three attempts. It's gotta be three legitimate attempts at the rim.
02:12We will keep you updated on each of those attempts with our dunkers. That includes a couple of rookies
02:18with Carter Bryant headlining. Jackson Hayes, the Laker. Keyshawn Johnson from Miami. And Chase
02:24Richardson trying to follow in his father's footsteps. Next, the AT&T Slam Dunk.
02:31From Black Adam and one night in Miami, executive producer and star of the hit crime thriller Cross,
02:40Aldous Hodge.
02:42What's happening? Oh, y'all know what time it is.
02:47Hollywood is storied with tales of heroes. In darkened cinemas, they amaze us with protagonists
02:53who face down adversity and take action, winning the day with displays of strength, endurance,
02:59skill, and grit. But the next four players we're about to meet, they ain't the products of editing
03:06or special effects. They get it done in real life, in real time, in front of our very eyes.
03:13These four gentlemen you're about to meet are the real-life action heroes. And this is far more than a
03:20contest. It's an epic movie.
03:27In these parks, folks earn their name by what they're willing to risk.
03:33Carter Bryant!
03:34A rookie with nothing to lose, and everything to prove. He plays by his own code.
03:42Oh, my goodness!
03:43When the dust settles, and the crowd holds its breath, one thing is certain. This town ain't seen air like
03:52this before.
03:53Carter Bryant is Carter the Kid.
04:01First up, from the San Antonio Spurs, Carter Bryant!
04:17Carter Bryant, our first dunker. Noah, Jamal, Reggie. We are also joined this entire contest by the GOAT of dunking,
04:26Fitz Carter.
04:27He will be with us all the way through, and he's got an up-close look at Carter Bryant, which
04:31the two gentlemen to my right are picking to win this thing.
04:35The pride of the I.E. Represented!
04:38And that's a start. That's a good start. That's a feel it up.
04:42He started with Fitz being out here. Fitz, what you think?
04:46I tell you, here's what I like about it. Come out here and just get a score, but he made
04:51his dunk.
04:51He made it. And it, that's a tough dunk to do.
04:54And as you know, he paid homage to you as well.
04:57I respect you.
04:58Fitz, I'm going to be honest. It looks better on replay. It looks better when you slow it down a
05:01little bit. You see the leg kick out there.
05:03And here's the thing. These are all first-timers, so nerves play a factor in this.
05:08But I told him, I said, I checked the rim. It's still 10 feet.
05:11That's right.
05:12You pulled the Hoosiers?
05:13Huh?
05:13You pulled the Hoosiers?
05:16But what's good, he's a local kid.
05:18Yeah, I talked about the brothers of I.E. I'm talking about the Inland Empire.
05:22Grew up idolizing Kobe Bryant, which a lot of kids around here did.
05:26So this is a big moment for him in front of a lot of family and friends.
05:30Let's see what the judges go with. They all rate it out of 50, anywhere from 40 to 50 points
05:35from each judge.
05:36And then that just gets averaged between the five scores.
05:39I'm thinking 45.
05:4144, 45.
05:42You're going 45?
05:43I want to go about a 45.
05:44I think it'll be higher than that.
05:46Brett Berry goes low.
05:48That's about close.
05:49You were right on it.
05:50That's going to be a 45.6.
05:52There you go, Rance.
05:53All right.
05:54It's not my first rodeo, guys, all right?
05:58All right.
05:58You know what they want.
05:59It's Kobe Bryant's first rodeo, both literally and figuratively, with the Spurs.
06:02The one thing I like that he did is when he got out here, he took the deep breath.
06:06The deep breath kind of sends you and sends you in.
06:09When you're nervous, your hands get sweaty, a little cold.
06:12You start thinking outside of the box.
06:18This isn't your typical sequel.
06:21Look at the height of the elevation.
06:23The name carries history.
06:24A thundering dunk by Jason Richardson.
06:28The expectations are built in.
06:31We have a weapon!
06:32And the spotlight never leaves.
06:34But this moment isn't about looking back.
06:38It's about what happens next.
06:41Jason Richardson is...
06:46Jason Richardson Reignited.
06:51Next up, a six-foot, one-inch guard from the Orlando Magic, Chase Richardson.
07:0025th pick in the 2025 draft, averaging over five points per game so far for Orlando.
07:06And he's got all that Jason Richardson pressure to come with it.
07:11His dad won in 2002 and 2003.
07:15You hear Vince giving him some pointers.
07:18The first dunk for the fellow rookie.
07:22And he got it.
07:23Can I start?
07:23Yeah.
07:24Break the ice.
07:25Get a score.
07:26This is what you want to do.
07:27And make your first dunk.
07:29Absolutely.
07:29And it's always 6-1, fellas.
07:31He's always 6-1.
07:32You got to give him some love on that.
07:34And I'll tell you what.
07:35Here's what I like about it.
07:37He caught it.
07:38But he smoothed it out.
07:39So it didn't look rushed.
07:40It didn't look quick.
07:41Look, you see here.
07:42He catches it.
07:43Smoothed it out a little bit with a turn.
07:45And then finishes.
07:46So I like it.
07:47For a first dunk.
07:48The rate pass.
07:48The rate pass.
07:49The fact that you're saying smooths it out when you dunking.
07:52Yeah.
07:52You're the hardest.
07:53Correct.
07:54You want to look like you're flying.
07:56You don't want to look like you're struggling.
07:58Hold that.
07:59Hold that.
08:00I'm serious.
08:00You don't want to look like you're struggling.
08:01You don't want to look like you're driving.
08:03Yeah, my man.
08:03No, that's good.
08:04And it looked like he was floating even underneath the rim as he caught it.
08:09Yeah.
08:10But that was a type of dunk.
08:11That was similar to the dunk that his dad did to Wheat back in 2002.
08:15You think about that later?
08:16That's all I'm doing.
08:17I was just trying to mimic all my dad's dunks.
08:20Let's see.
08:21That's going to be real close.
08:2245 and Bryant's going to be about the same.
08:24Yep.
08:2645.4.
08:2745.4.
08:27You did your best.
08:29Oh, thank you.
08:30I do words.
08:30I do words for a living.
08:32You do.
08:32I do words.
08:32You do.
08:33I do words.
08:34Two clean ones to start.
08:4030,000 feet.
08:42I hate this.
08:47całirdi m significantly less.
08:54It's good.
08:55It's bad.
08:55It's not sleeping.
08:56It's bad.
08:56It's bad.
08:57Wrong for Ash Ai Hanzoom.
09:00The wind and theurn.
09:04Giations!
