00:00Now golf is a fantastic sport, I love it, but as most of you watching this will know,
00:04it is also incredibly frustrating at times. Now we're here at the London Club and in this
00:10video we're going to take a look at 10 of the most demoralising golf shots you can hit.
00:21Let's get started.
00:26OK, so right of the 12th hole here at the London Club, and Jez has got two options. He can
00:31either chip it back out over to the left here, or he can be a bit more aggressive and play
00:35it to the right. I'm not sure there's a huge amount to be gained there, it's par 5,
00:38he doesn't need to go for it. Let's see what option he goes for.
00:45Ooh, that is demoralising.
00:46There's nothing to be gained this way at all.
00:52Well these short irons have been causing Neil a bit of grief of late, a tendency to pull
00:57them left of target, but he's been working hard on the range, putting in the hours to
01:01try and sort things out. 150 here, only a short iron for Neil.
01:12It's got 50 yards left.
01:24Ooh, that is a shank.
01:32OK, so 11th hole here at the London Club, tough par 3. Now Jez is here, really good drive
01:37down into the mouth of the green, should be able to escape here with a pie. He's just deciding
01:40whether to chip it or to putt it. Pretty sure he'll go for the putter. Oh. Oh. He's gone
01:48for the chipper. Let's see how he gets on. Gordon, why don't you just use the putter?
02:00So this is the 13th on the heritage course at the London Club. It's a classic risk reward
02:05par 4. It's playing off the four tees today and it's straight down wind. Now Tapas is a
02:10pretty long hitter. I'm pretty sure that he will have a go at this. Probably doesn't
02:15even need driver, so. Oh. Looks like he actually has something else in mind.
02:25Oh no, don't go left. So that is just what he didn't want to do. Iron for safety, found
02:31a bunker, now has to play straight over the water.
02:38So we're here on the 10th green on the heritage course at the London Club. Neil has left himself
02:42this 12 footer for birdie after a good approach. He needs something to happen in this round,
02:47so let's see. Well he's knocked it a little way past, but he should have no trouble in just
02:55tidying that one up. I'm sure he would have liked it to be just a touch closer maybe, but
03:01well let's see. Oh my goodness, the horseshoe. That is going to hurt.
03:15Tenth hole, third shot. Now this is a tricky scenario, downhill lie, tight flag, we've all
03:21been there. But Jez as an experienced campaigner, he knows full well the number one mistake you
03:27make in this position is to get too cute with it. So Jez is just going to play the sort
03:31of
03:32old pro shot, hit it past the flag, take your chance to sort of 10 or 15 feet. Very, very
03:38simple. No mistakes need to be made. Oops.
03:50So it's competition day and Neil's hopes are up. He's been playing well in friendly rounds
03:56recently. He knows that his handicap should be coming down. This is the day that he thinks
04:01he's going to do it. He's treated himself to a new glove. He's treated himself to a brand
04:06new golf ball. He's even done a little bit of stretching on the tee there. So this is the
04:11day where things all go completely according to plan. Or not.
04:27Oh no. No. It's gone left. I have to play a provisional. Oh. Well I see what Neil was trying
04:37to do there. This is the 12th hole on the heritage course at the London club. Really
04:41requires a little bit of a fade round the corner and it's a great chance. Par five.
04:45But if you over fade it, you're in the trees on the right. And if you do what Neil has
04:48just done,
04:49you hold on to it and you're up that bank on the left where the rough is pretty impenetrable.
04:54Right. Don't go left.
04:58Oh. Oh my goodness. Is that an action replay of the first one? Deja vu time?
05:03Are you joking? I think it probably is.
05:11OK. So we've reached a critical phase in the round here. Jez has driven into the water
05:15and he's now got a very difficult pitch over that water to the green. It could be a cricket
05:19score if he gets this wrong. Hang on a second. Hang on a second. That's pretty close. He could
05:27even escape here with a par. What is the point?
05:36Well there you have it. That's our look at 10 of the most demoralising shots in golf. If you've
05:41liked the video, hit the like button. But also, have we missed anything? Is there a more demoralising
05:46shot that we've not somehow included? We'd love to hear your thoughts. But that's it for now. Thanks for
05:51watching. We'll see you next time.
05:58We'll see you next time.
