00:52¿Puedo decirlo?
00:53Están los guys will have to elevate their game tonight to walk out of here,
00:56the new unified champ at 154 pounds.
01:00Y creo que van a la mejor en cada uno de los dos.
01:01Es un testado vil y skill, que es per daim sure.
01:08El key for Xaias, as he stressed to us in fighter meetings,
01:12his manager Peter Kahn said the same thing.
01:14El back cannot be against the ropes in this fight.
01:44Y el Zayas está haciendo el body work in here early as well.
01:49Down with the jab to the body, also bringing it back up top.
01:53A lot of work with that lead left hand.
01:55Yeah, but you see the timing right there of Abbas.
01:58Every now and then he sneaks the jab in.
02:09Zayas trying to use his footwork, trying to continually pivot.
02:13And keep Moral resetting.
02:15That was one thing that Zayas' team stressed.
02:17They feel that Moral doesn't punch when you're punching.
02:23Yeah, he goes in and acts by guard.
02:24Sometimes he will.
02:26But the thing is, is that Xander's not staying there long enough to receive anything.
02:33Uncut there from Zayas.
02:37Moral leading forward, trying to get to the inside.
02:40Two little left hands connect there from Moral.
02:43I'm waiting on that right hand from Xander.
02:45You know, it's early on.
02:46Xander probably doesn't feel comfortable throwing it right now.
02:49But Moral, what he's doing is he's lunging in with that jab.
02:52There it is.
02:53That was the right hand in the uppercut counter from Xander right there.
02:56He sees it.
02:58Hand in the body from Zayas.
02:59Left hook up top.
03:01It's ooze and aahs from the crowd here in San Juan.
03:03It's a great big left hook there from Moral.
03:10Moral is trying to shrink this ring, man.
03:13He's putting a lot of pressure on Xander.
03:16And this is the first round.
03:17Yes, he's absorbing some shots.
03:18He's catching some shots on the arm.
03:20However, he's making Xander work.
03:21All right, it's good.
03:27Money there from Zayas as he climbs the ladder with a quick combination up top.
03:33Fast-paced fight here in the opening round as expected.
03:38We head back to the stools.
03:40We head back to the center ring.
03:55Get back on that stick.
03:56Keep working those levels with that jab.
03:58Don't get too in.
03:59Don't rush that right hand.
04:01Okay?
04:05He throws that back hand.
04:07That's when we slip and we go downstairs.
04:09Let's not leave with that.
04:10Okay?
04:11Don't want that uppercut.
04:12Okay?
04:13Go up front.
04:14Remember.
04:14He makes it stepping forward.
04:16Uppercut is fine.
04:17Uppercut hook.
04:18Okay?
04:18But I want everything off that wrist.
04:20Okay?
04:20Down to the body.
04:21Upstairs, you can go ahead and leave.
04:36That's it.
04:38Down two under way.
04:39We just saw the same stoic gaze on the face of Abbas Burrell that we've seen all week long.
04:46Listening in to the instructions from Zayas' corner.
04:49Christina, what do you think about that advice?
04:50I think it was great.
04:51I mean, they have such a great rapport.
04:52He's been with them since day one.
04:53I think they were very precise, clear instructions.
04:58Very calm.
04:59I mean, I don't expect anything less from Javier Centeno, but I really like what I heard there.
05:03Yeah, Tim.
05:03Very specific there being in terms of saying, don't lead with an uppercut.
05:07It has to come off of something.
05:09Yeah, it definitely has to come off of something because you leave yourself out there for that hook for Burrell.
05:13But at the same time, that first round, it was just perfect for Zander.
05:17I thought he controlled it very, very well.
05:19Using his jab, using his feints, using his movement to evade Burrell's attack.
05:24Now, Burrell's got to throw some more punches here in round two.
05:27I mean, when he did, he was effective.
05:28He got through with his jab through the guard a couple of times.
05:30He put on that physical pressure, stalking forward.
05:32Just not enough punches for me from Burrell to take that first round.
05:37And you know what?
05:38He's going to be able to conserve some energy for the later half, the second half.
05:42Oh, he's got that, for sure.
05:43That's what he's banking on.
05:44He's banking on Zander to slow down.
05:46If you're Burrell, you can't wait until later.
05:47You're fighting in San Juan, Puerto Rico, against Zander Saez.
05:50You've got to get busy.
05:51I agree 1,000%.
05:52You've got to get busy.
05:53But early on, you're fighting a guy with quicker feet, quicker hands, quicker combinations right there.
05:58He just buzzed Burrell momentarily in place for a second with that right hand.
06:02And Burrell, going back to our earlier point, kind of breaking habit a little bit.
06:06Remember, Zyze's team, they're of the belief that Burrell won't punch if you're punching at him.
06:10They need to wait until you stop punching.
06:13But Burrell, punching with Zyze at times to land that jab.
06:17Every now and then, he'll punch off that high guard.
06:19Yeah, he will.
06:20But a lot of times, I love the way Zander is rolling underneath, changing his angle,
06:25making Burrell pick up his feet.
06:27Sneaky body shot there from Zyze.
06:30Beautiful work.
06:33And I know you were waiting to see Zyze let his right hand go.
06:36He's been a little cautious with it.
06:37But you heard Javier explain why, and that makes sense.
06:40He said, you know, keep doing everything off the lead left.
06:42Let's be patient with the right.
06:44And I often say, carve things up.
06:46Because when I see Zander Saez fight, it's like he carves his opponent up.
06:49The way he switches that hand, the way he changes the trajectory on the punches with the lead hand,
06:54it works.
06:55It's surgical.
06:57It is.
06:57And then he ties his man up, you know, when he needs to tie him up.
07:01He doesn't allow him to work, which is brilliant.
07:04Not only is he being technical, like you're saying, Christina, he's also being tactical as well.
07:09Good decision-making by Zander Saez at the moment.
07:15Again on the final 20 seconds here of round two.
07:20And again, right here, Burrell should be jabbing.
07:22Get yourself in some sort of rhythm.
07:24And instead, he gets caught with an uppercut from Saez off the left hand.
07:27That right hand, chance of Zayas raining down here.
07:36Congratulating their native son on a terrific start here in this unification bout.
07:43I'm curious what Burrell's trainer is going to tell him.
07:45Let's...
07:46And go through the fish, or too far.
07:50You need to keep a little more pressure now in this round.
07:54Okay?
07:54And we've got a three-point line too.
07:56They're second to hit me with only.
07:59Okay?
08:00Hold on.
08:00Hold on.
08:01Hold on.
08:01If you're hitting the jab, then move you hit.
08:03Okay?
08:04Okay?
08:04Okay?
08:04Okay?
08:04Okay?
08:05Yeah?
08:05You're hitting the jab, you're hitting the jab, okay?
08:08Because you're hitting the jab.
08:10Pa!
08:11Go close.
08:11You make the pa!
08:13Pa!
08:13Ha!
08:14Ha!
08:14Ha!
08:15Okay?
08:15That's good stuff.
08:26That is some good stuff right there from the corner.
08:31I'm not going to lie.
08:33That was so specific.
08:34What he wants, Zander, he wants to draw that jab.
08:37He's saying, okay, cover up.
08:39However, when that jab come out, hey, have something in the back.
08:42Counter.
08:43Outside slip.
08:44Counter over his jab.
08:45Because you know that's what he's going to lead with.
08:47Yeah, fun pairing of Bas Burau and his trainer, George Rubio, who you saw in the corner there.
08:51He spent 17 years coaching one of the Cuban national teams.
08:57Coached the Mexican Olympic team as well.
08:59So you see Burau, you see pressure fighter, but in his corner, so much technical expertise.
09:03Got that bit of that Cuban school earlier, we talked about how early in his career he had that Arthur Abraham team, that team from Germany that helped him.
09:12You saw a lot of that in those early days coming out of his amateur.
09:15So just a well-schooled all-around fighter.
09:17And, you know, he's better than what you're seeing right now in these first two rounds.
09:22You'll see moments.
09:24Hopefully we'll see a little more from him, but he's very, very well-schooled.
09:27And there is a right hand, as I ask for some more.
09:29Now, stepped in with an excellent right hand.
09:33Look, we got 12 rounds of work, you know.
09:36I mean, the first two rounds, of course, you know, it didn't go his way.
09:39However, he's starting to mount his attack right now, which is good because you've got to change the ties, right?
09:44But he's banking on the later half.
09:46He's trying to get Xander to fall asleep a little bit.
09:49You know, you can tell that he wants to make him pay for that jab.
09:52But right now, Xander is quick and very accurate and fast on his feet.
09:56So, as the fight progresses, he starts to slow down a little bit.
10:00Maybe he'll be able to land.
10:03He's looking for that right hand.
10:07And by and large, this isn't out of character, not just for Burrell, but any pressure fighter.
10:12Typically speaking, they are banking on those later rounds like you're talking about, Tim.
10:17They need those early rounds, sometimes just to set pace, not necessarily worrying about whether they win it or not.
10:23Yeah, I didn't think that Burrell was going to win the early part of this fight, just to begin to speed.
10:28The speed and the accuracy and the quickness of Xander.
10:32Like I told you guys, I'm worried about the latter half.
10:35If Xander, if he expenses a lot of energy early on and don't have the legs and the conditioning late, it could be a problem.
10:44Burrell's just waiting on him to slow down a tad bit.
10:47Good job.
10:51Burrell's still trying to invite him in.
10:52You see him taking that half a step back, still trying to invite him in.
10:58He wants Xander to overcommit.
11:01That's what he's hoping for.
11:02And he's seen, you know, him in sparring, 80-something rounds.
11:08We've talked about it time and time again.
11:10But, you know, it was almost like he knew something that we didn't know from going all those rounds.
11:17He knew when he felt like he saw him, you know, when he gave him that pressure in sparring, he's like, I saw something in his eyes.
11:24I knew when he was worried.
11:25I knew when he was concerned, right?
11:27Well, he said specifically, I know when he panics.
11:29Panics was the word.
11:30Thank you.
11:30Good left hook there from Zayas.
11:32I didn't want to say the wrong word.
11:33He said panic is exactly...
11:34I know when he panics.
11:38Ooh, left hook there from Zayas right at the bell.
11:40That's the moment that I'm talking about.
11:42Any lapses in defense, right there, he cut him off.
11:45Xander took an angle.
11:46He cut him off.
11:47He met him with the left hook right there.
11:49Good ending to that last round for Abbas.
11:54All right.
11:56Look, he's trying to load up on that right hand.
11:58What do we do?
11:59I need that position here, right?
12:00If we can catch that right hand with that, with that, with your right hand off the top,
12:04now we go ahead and push right hand.
12:06All right?
12:16Watch out for that right hand on the exit.
12:18Look at that jab.
12:27Abbas leads with the left hook.
12:29That was a nice changeup right there.
12:32Catching Zander on the way out.
12:34Dropped his hands a tad bit.
12:35All you need is a small little space, a small little opening.
12:38And he was able to land that right hand.
12:43Round four begins.
12:44It's WBO and WBA junior middleweight title unification bout.
12:49And there's Zayas off to a good start here against Abbas Farrell.
12:54One of the questions that was posed of Zayas, as we were talking about last round, is can he start a little bit too hot and then fade?
13:05But he said that he learned that lesson.
13:06He knows better after the Jorge Garcia win.
13:10Yeah, I think that win did a lot for his career.
13:12Honestly, I mean, you know, when you, Garcia is one of those guys that pressure, puts relentless pressure on you.
13:19He's not as technical as Barrell, but however, he puts that pressure on you.
13:23And he felt like he was good.
13:25You know, he was able to carry a high pace throughout.
13:28He felt that his conditioning was great.
13:30And he's looking good right now.
13:32That was the first time he was able to go 12 rounds as a pro.
13:35He knew if he was going to be a world champion and have those defenses, he was going to need to do that.
13:39Abbas Farrell's gone 12 rounds like five times in his career.
13:42And he gets stronger late.
13:43So he's, that's good pacing for him to know.
13:46I can stand in there and do this, you know, middle and late in fights.
13:50That's a good point, Christina.
13:51Barrell has been effectively a 12-round fighter since his ninth, tenth pro fight when they tossed him in there against Jack Colquet.
13:59He was a world-ranked fighter at that time.
14:01Nearly beat Colquet, less than ten fights into his pro career.
14:08Barrell again trying to get that right hand going.
14:10But Zayas, just a little bit too quick, steps back with that counter.
14:14Great counterpunching right there from Zayas.
14:17Great eyes.
14:18Great eyes.
14:20Ooh, what an uppercut.
14:24Small little step to the left.
14:26Boom, uppercut.
14:27Getting under.
14:27Ooh, whoop, whoop.
14:28Slip counter was nice.
14:30Found that same shot and then came off top with the right hand.
14:33And it's worth noting that Zayas is naturally left-handed.
14:38His power hand is out front and it's something that we've seen here on the island with some of its most famous fighters.
14:44Miguel Cotto was that way.
14:45Yvonne Calderon, our Spanish colleague, was the opposite.
14:48Naturally right-handed, led with his right hands.
14:50I love the way Zander Zayas, he's not, usually he gets heavy, front foot heavy with that left hook.
14:56He's constantly trying to throw that left hook.
14:57But he's being very patient.
14:59And look at the creativity.
15:01You know, he's seeing the head dip a little bit low.
15:03He's coming up with the uppercut.
15:04Then he's turning the corner with the left hook.
15:06I just want to see that right hand be deployed afterwards.
15:09I'm telling you, that land, it will land.
15:12Stop!
15:12But love the creativity from Zander Zayas with that lead hand, Gloria.
15:17You're so on point, too, because we can hear Zander's corner pretty loud.
15:21And the Zayas corner telling him, you know, throw that uppercut, but I need the right hand right behind it.
15:26Which is what you've been calling for as well.
15:31Wow, trying to pick up the pace with the punch out hook.
15:34Not there quite yet.
15:36Can't quite find the moving target of Zander Zayas.
15:42You have to go inside now.
15:52You're trying to continue to let it be in, but now.
15:56Okay?
15:57You need to go more inside and move the left and right and go to walk in close anyway.
16:03But be hitting one point that you give you.
16:07One point inside.
16:08You need to defend it first and you hit it and you move your head back.
16:11But putting more pressure on you.
16:14Jumping, you bumping him moving, no, no?
16:16Go ahead.
16:17Okay?
16:18Go ahead that pressure.
16:19No pressure.
16:22I'm going to be hitting it.
16:23How are you doing?
16:24I'm hitting.
16:24Baba, you have to hit him more.
16:26Keep close.
16:27Very close.
16:27I'm going to be body, champ.
16:29He don't like anybody.
16:29Baba.
16:33Second out.
16:34You're not going to see any demeanor change in morale whatsoever.
16:41You know, he may be frustrated in his head.
16:43He's not going to show it.
16:44However, he's got a great poker face.
16:46But he knows he's down.
16:48His corner knows he's down.
16:49And right now, you know, Zander is in a great groove right now.
16:54And I think he's sweeping this fight.
16:56Yeah, and you can hear the urgency, Prisida, in the Burau corner right now.
17:01They know that he needs to start selling out in terms of that pressure.
17:07I mean, you're down four rounds to none.
17:10You know, Burau's trainer telling him, it's time to get busy.
17:14You've got to start letting your hands go now.
17:16There's the right hand.
17:24It is the right hand.
17:25And I love the fact that Zander's not staying there after landing that right hand.
17:32That makes things difficult for Burau, more slow footing.
17:34You're okay.
17:35Come on.
17:37The word we kept hearing in the Zayas corner is alert.
17:41Stay alert.
17:42And I think that is what you're seeing.
17:44You watch the body language, the focus of Zayas.
17:47He is alert every second of this fight so far.
17:49He has to be.
17:50He cannot fall asleep.
17:51Not one second.
17:52It's round by round, second by second, minute by minute.
17:55He has to be because Burau is still dangerous.
18:00Oh, beautiful combination, Corey.
18:03My goodness.
18:05Switching things up.
18:06That right hand, then the left hook.
18:09Primarily Zayas at his corner's behest.
18:12He's been leading with that left hand.
18:13Bring the right hand behind it.
18:16Pitching backwards there.
18:18Catching Burau a little bit off guard.
18:20You see the head movement now.
18:25Burau has been having some success here in round five.
18:28Burau.
18:28With shots like that.
18:30That's about the fifth right hand that Burau has landed here in round five.
18:33And that's when he gets Xander in close range, right?
18:37When Xander stays at that mid or long range, he has a lot of success.
18:41But when Burau is able to bait him in a bit or he stands there and exchanges in the middle,
18:45that's where we've seen Abbas Burau have the most success.
18:48Xander's starting to go out a little bit fat as well when he takes his angle.
18:52And Burau is punching where he believes he's going to be.
18:55Beautiful uppercut there from Zayas and a right hand behind it.
18:59But Burau stands in there begging for the exchanges.
19:03Another good right hand there from Burau.
19:05That's going to keep Zayas honest all night long, that right hand from Burau.
19:10Starting to get real serious in there for Xander Zayas.
19:12This round right here, Burau is starting to find that target for that right hand.
19:18He struck that one.
19:24About 15 seconds of the round here.
19:26Yes, it is heating up.
19:27And it is indeed heating up.
19:29Abbas Burau coming alive here in the fifth round.
19:33And even if you don't think he won this round, you know he's here now.
19:38And so does Xander Zayas.
19:46Xander's mom sitting right next to Felix Tito Trinidad.
19:51And Daddy Yankee.
19:52And Daddy Yankee.
19:55Biggest musical stars in the world, certainly here on the island.
19:59And in a month that is absolutely massive for Puerto Rican music.
20:04Mama's locked in.
20:05She looks so nervous.
20:07She looks so nervous.
20:08She looks beautiful though, man.
20:09She sure does.
20:10She looks well dressed tonight.
20:11You can see where he gets his smile from.
20:13Yes.
20:14I think he's an octave with that jab, right?
20:16That jab is what's going to keep him away.
20:17Your face is what's going to keep him away.
20:19Once he breaks that jab, that's when you let your hands come.
20:23But you can't pause and move, right?
20:25So right hand we were talking about in that last round, Burrell catching Xander on the way out.
20:30Again, trying to change angles.
20:32However, Burrell starting to catch on to that pattern.
20:37All right.
20:37You want to move left?
20:38All right.
20:38I'll meet you.
20:39Where are you going?
20:40Right hand right down the middle.
20:42A direct quote from Abbas Burrell to Ring Magazine's Nate Marrero earlier this week.
20:47I know how he moves, and I think he is starting to see some of those patterns, even if it isn't identical.
20:53Habits are habits to him, and certain things are going to look like they did in sparring.
20:57But I'll tell you this.
21:01Beautiful uppercut and chopping right hand there from Zayas.
21:03Yes.
21:04Great counter, but sometimes you don't have to throw.
21:09That's what Abbas wants you to do.
21:11He wants you to throw.
21:12Sometimes you can step in, tie him up, slow the pace down a little bit, you know?
21:16So that's what I want to see for Xander, because that's what he wants, to force you out, let your combinations go,
21:21but then he wants to hit you after when you're trying to reset or when you're disengaging.
21:30To that point, Cristina, one thing that Zayas' camp stressed, that he needs to be more active and more alert,
21:37going back to that word, coming out of breaks, coming out of clinches.
21:41Stronger is the term that they used.
21:44Oh, for sure.
21:45And those are the times when he gets caught.
21:48That's when his defensive lapses happen, when he comes out of clinches like that.
21:52I also don't love him circling to the right.
21:54Now he is circling to the left.
21:56But he gets caught sometimes going, you know, towards Abbas Burrell's right hand,
22:00and he needs to be careful.
22:01If he gives himself the longer distance, fine.
22:03But if he's in close, he's got to stay away from that shot.
22:10Oh, see?
22:11Right hand again.
22:12You see that lead hand down, though.
22:16You see these different looks that Burrell does have.
22:18Look at this pendulum step he's got going on now.
22:20Yeah, and I think he got entertained by that from Xander Zayas starting to bounce on his toes.
22:28That's what Xander needs to do.
22:29He needs to drop more feints.
22:31He has to drop more feints.
22:32When you have somebody like Burrell who's a counter puncher and is looking to time you, you've got to drop feints.
22:38So that way he can't catch on to your timing.
22:41Burrell's starting to fall short at times with that right hand.
22:44And Zayas taking a step back to land that counter left hook.
22:47Good angle.
22:52I love the angles from Xander tonight.
22:56One place that Burrell's not going, he's not going to the body enough.
23:00He's not attacking that body.
23:01Just throw these legs down of Xander.
23:03Oh, but you know who's going downstairs.
23:05Xander Zayas.
23:06But Burrell's corner told him a couple rounds ago, hey, we want you to start jabbing to the body a little bit more.
23:14Maybe start that pattern with that as we approach the final 20 seconds here of round six.
23:19Back on those level changes as well, all right?
23:26Look there from Zayas.
23:28Gets his shots off.
23:29Yes, underneath does it again.
23:32Good, left hook.
23:33Some high level stuff right here by Bolt.
23:36Good defense.
23:38See a double move right there from Burrell.
23:41Trying to close that distance.
23:43The level of boxing you expect with two World titles on the line.
23:47This is great stuff, man.
23:48This is great stuff, man.
23:48This is great stuff, man.
23:49And you're going to get down.
23:49This is great stuff.
23:49You're going to hit him up.
23:51No, you're hitting him up.
23:53Okay?
23:53We're hitting him up and he goes down.
23:58Get him down and we're hitting him up.
24:01Okay?
24:02Close to more the faces.
24:04You make a trick here, I'm going to the other side.
24:07Okay?
24:08Work more the hook and right.
24:09Hook right.
24:10Back down.
24:11Hook right hook.
24:12Bam.
24:12ok
24:42Now seven underway, our main event between Xander Zayas and Abbas Barrao.
24:48Both men putting their world titles on the line and things are really heating up now.
24:54High level stuff from both men.
24:56Abbas Barrao said earlier this week, I haven't seen a fighter who can handle my pressure.
25:03He's got half a fight to go to prove that hypothesis correct.
25:07And you see that stick right there, that jab, that lead hand.
25:11That's what's going to win Xander the fight.
25:12He got clipped with the right hand right there, dropping it.
25:16Barrao's doing a good job and sneaking behind that jab, man.
25:19He is.
25:23Little side steps right there.
25:26There you go.
25:29I want your feet moving.
25:31These are sometimes the middle rounds where we've seen Xander slow down just a little bit.
25:37So it'll be interesting, which, you know, now we're on the second half of the fight, likely up six rounds to none.
25:41But he can afford to take his time and take a round off, if you will.
25:46But Barrao, Abbas Barrao, can really capitalize on these moments right here.
25:52That might have been the first short left hook that Barrao landed in this fight.
25:56He landed it up top.
25:57Oh, there are better left hands.
26:01Exactly.
26:02That was a nice 45s.
26:03Again, he cut off that exit.
26:05Cut that exit off Barrao of Xander.
26:09And Barrao also got an uppercut in there twice.
26:12Let it go.
26:12Let it go.
26:12Let it go.
26:13I think this is the panic that Barrao was talking about in the fighter meeting.
26:19He says when you get close to him, you make him uncomfortable.
26:25He starts to panic.
26:31It's almost as if he's completely tuned in to what Javier is telling him, right?
26:35I mean, he calls for a shot, or three, and Xander lands it.
26:39Yeah, but that 1-2-1, that 1-2-1 that Barrao just landed was pretty clean, too.
26:44Yeah, kind of walking with his shots, lands that last one.
26:47You see Xander.
26:49You see Xander now.
26:51Xander is like, all right, he's catching on to my rhythm.
26:54He's catching on to my rhythm.
26:55Let me switch things up.
26:56Now he's trying to move his hands to disguise again to slow down that pressure for coming from Barrao.
27:03I think Zayas, Tim, now working at a pace that is, at the very least,
27:09less comfortable than it was in the first four rounds.
27:12Yeah, Barrao's having a good round here.
27:14Big right hand there for Barrao.
27:16Another big shot, open hand right.
27:18You know, the one thing that I'm not seeing from Xander's eyes,
27:21and I don't know why, I don't understand why there's not tie-ups included in his game plan.
27:26Tie-ups is a part of it.
27:27You want to slow the momentum down.
27:28He's using his legs a lot.
27:30He's coming back.
27:30I get it.
27:31However, to stop that forward momentum, step in and tie him up.
27:36Good right hand.
27:36Good hand to the body, chopping right hand upstairs.
27:44The question is, was that enough to offset?
27:47What was a pretty good round for a Barrao?
27:50Yeah, that's the first round when we're kind of all sitting here like,
27:53oh, maybe he got that one.
27:54I don't think there was too many maybes in those.
27:56Okay, for me, go.
27:57You got that one, you got it anymore.
27:59You are hitting here.
28:00No, hitting him down.
28:02You have to be very down, down.
28:05Don't keep your body out.
28:07Okay.
28:08Now, hitting more, jump.
28:10I hit it to where we...
28:10He always make it that boom, boom.
28:13He hit it to where we hit it.
28:15Punch.
28:16Power punch.
28:17He always hit it to a good punch.
28:20When hitting...
28:20You want that hitting hit it, say, when you're hitting the where we hit.
28:24Okay.
28:25Vamos, Abba.
28:26Abba.
28:26Vamos, let go, man.
28:28Vamos.
28:28Hit now.
28:29Now.
28:30Vamos, let go.
28:31Okay.
28:32Go.
28:32Go.
28:32Go.
28:32Go.
28:32Go.
28:33Go.
28:33Go.
28:34Go.
28:40Box.
28:43Out and eight underway.
28:46And now in the second half of the fight, this is when many would expect Burau to start
28:51doing his best work, but again, we are of the belief that Zayas probably has at least
29:00six rounds in the bank in all likelihood.
29:02Yes.
29:03Yes.
29:03Yes.
29:03And so now, Burau could be in a position where it's not just making Zayas panic.
29:09He has to produce something hurtful and potentially sweep these rounds.
29:13Look, right now, I like the start of this round for Burau.
29:16I'm not going to lie.
29:17He came out with guns blazing.
29:19He landed some shots on him.
29:20It's clean right hand over the top of the jab.
29:23And I'm pretty sure Burau's corner told him, I need you punching while he's punching.
29:30You know he's going to throw in combinations and then stop.
29:33I need you to return fire right there with him.
29:36I need more from you.
29:37It's more of punching while he's moving.
29:40Because when you're moving, you have to set your feet, plant your feet to be able to throw
29:44a shot.
29:44So while he's moving, he's vulnerable.
29:47And that's what Burau's taking advantage of, Xander.
29:49I, but, but Tim, I feel like Burau also, he needs to be set to throw his shots.
29:53He's not really one that gets his shots off on the move as effectively.
29:59Big hand there from Zayas.
30:01There was some sip on that one.
30:07See, like, small little shots like that.
30:10That's what I'm talking about.
30:10He's running in with combinations now, as opposed to single shots from the outside.
30:16Burau.
30:18Oh, slip.
30:21Are you okay?
30:22Books.
30:24Work issue there for Burau is that right hand from Zayas landed.
30:29Love that change.
30:30That was a nice changeup right there.
30:31He threw the curveball instead of the fastball down the middle.
30:35See, that's what I'm talking about right there.
30:37He's trying to attack him on the angle change now.
30:40Yeah, you can hear Zayas' corner right now, Christina, telling him, hey, when he steps in, you throw that right hand.
30:49And I think that Burau does have a little bit of a tell, that big, exaggerated step he's taking.
30:54Zayas is timing it well like that.
30:57Zayas got away right there.
30:58Got away.
30:59You got to look at it.
31:01He started saucing for a second.
31:04One thing I would say Xander's getting away from is he's getting away from that jab.
31:08I hope that, I hope the right hand is not causing him not to use that jab.
31:14Right hand there from Zayas.
31:16I believe some blood may be coming from the mouth of Abbas Burau.
31:20Good movement.
31:26Burau pawing at his face a little bit more here.
31:30Still keeping that high guard.
31:32Trying to find the right hand.
31:33Zayas once again this round.
31:37Very difficult for Burau to find.
31:41Beautiful uppercut right at the bell.
31:44And one that was a little bit late.
31:45Both men trading right hands.
32:13Xander getting a better end of that exchange right there.
32:20But I love the way Xander was able to get his head off the line during that process to make Burau's right hand miss.
32:27That's just fundamentals, people.
32:29That's what that is.
32:30We go with round nine.
32:48Burau first to center ring.
32:50And you'd have to think that if it wasn't desperation time before, it probably is now.
32:55Oh, nice little post right there from Xander.
33:01Showing a little wrinkle.
33:03Getting that lead hand out.
33:05Head clash right there.
33:07Hand clips Zayas there.
33:09But back he comes with a right hand of his own.
33:12And the crowd coming alive.
33:14The combinations from Zayas are flying.
33:16A smile on the face of Abbas Burau, who might have momentarily created the fight he is looking for.
33:30They are both standing there trading toe-to-toe.
33:34I don't love this position right here for Xander.
33:36He did some good work there.
33:37But Abbas Burau is tough as nails.
33:40And he looked for a second to be stunned, but came right back and answered with some solid shots of his own.
33:45And that might have been the confidence boost he needed, Tim.
33:48That's exactly what he needed.
33:50However, my concern is the signage in the center of the ring.
33:53You saw Xander's eyes almost slip and fall right there.
33:57I'm just worried a shot bit landing and his feet going underneath him and creates a knockdown.
34:02The same thing almost happened to Burau last round.
34:05Remember that right hand of the body and his feet went out underneath him.
34:08But you see how smart Xander is.
34:09Now he's moving on the outside away from that signage.
34:13That also works to the benefit of Abbas Burau, who wants desperately for Zayas to park himself along the ropes.
34:21And Xander's eyes just parked a right hand on the jaw of Burau.
34:25Xander's eyes are showing out, man.
34:27I'm getting my energy going.
34:29He's showing out tonight.
34:31Nice counter.
34:33Nice uppercut there.
34:34Oh, head clash.
34:35Heads come together.
34:37You see Zayas blinking a little bit, a little warning from the official here.
34:47Stern reminder from Zayas' corner, I need you at long range.
34:52Right around that long range would help.
34:55Yeah, I need you at your range, not his.
34:58And that's mid-range to inside.
35:00That's where his range is.
35:01Outside Xander all day long.
35:06That's where he's going to win this fight.
35:08Two shots and go.
35:09Two shots and go.
35:10Good advice again coming from the corner of Zayas, telling him, hey, two shots and go.
35:20You don't need to hang out there.
35:24You see how wet Burau's trunks are.
35:26All that water's dripping around the entire ring.
35:35It's not good.
35:36I know 10 seconds.
35:41They both have the same disadvantage.
35:42They both are dealing with it.
35:45It's main event, you towards the end.
35:48Yeah.
35:54The referee needs to step in there and wipe the center and wipe it up.
35:58Both fighters right here.
36:11Xander right there on the 50-50.
36:13Got the faster hand speed combinations right there.
36:17Catching Burau out of position.
36:19Love the follow-up here.
36:21Felt he had his man hurt.
36:24And here's the head clash.
36:26Xander looking for an uppercut.
36:28Burau looking to close the distance.
36:31Heads come together.
36:33To break that head clash right there.
36:42Three rounds to go.
36:45And this title unification bout between Xander Zayas and Abbas Burau.
36:51You see the gait of Abbas Burau now.
36:54That foot pressure is picking up.
36:55He knows that he needs these rounds and something more.
37:00Pivots and angles and everything that Xander's using.
37:08He's losing Burau.
37:10And that left hook is starting to work for him as well.
37:13He's turning the corner.
37:14We're using that left hook.
37:15Clearing that side.
37:16And he's resisted the urge to turn this into a series of kind of timing battle exchanges.
37:27Because that's when Burau had the most success he's had in this fight.
37:31And although we talk about how strong Abbas Burau is late, none of his knockouts have come past the sixth round in any of the fights.
37:41His wins at distance have been by decision.
37:45So although he's strong late, he doesn't necessarily carry that knockout power in those late rounds.
37:50And he needs something like a knockdown, at least at this point, like you mentioned, Corey, to bring himself back into this fight.
37:57Probably a couple of knocks.
37:59And as we know, he's world champion because of late heroics.
38:03That fight against Ioannis Tellez, we remember that final round knockdown with one glove hanging off of his hand.
38:09The tape was all over the place.
38:11Abbas Burau is not quitting.
38:13He is going to be here every round of this fight.
38:17But Xander Zayas just is not where he wants him to be.
38:23And Xander Zayas is not going to fold under that pressure.
38:26He can't break his will.
38:37Xander knows he has a chance to make history tonight.
38:40He's had a look in his eye all week long.
38:42He's done every media obligation.
38:44He's still been himself.
38:45But he said, I'm willing to go to hell and back.
38:47I will do whatever it takes tonight for my island.
38:50It's his first fight here in six years to walk out of here a unified world champion and the youngest current in the sport of boxing right now.
38:59He said he can drag me to hell if he wants to.
39:01I'm willing to go there.
39:03But he's showing it tonight, man.
39:05He threw a little bit of everything.
39:07That last round, he stood there and fought.
39:09He exchanged with Burau.
39:11Now, landing combinations.
39:13And you said he can't fall asleep.
39:15He can't get lackadaisical.
39:17And he has not.
39:18Oh, he hasn't.
39:19Not to this point.
39:19He's been sharp all night.
39:20The pressure's been coming all night.
39:23It has been.
39:23Nice counter-offer cut there from Zayas who steps back, comes back in with that scoop shot as we enter the final 10 seconds of the round.
39:35At which point, we will have six minutes remaining in our main event as Zayas leads another sneaky shot to the body as we head back to the corners.
39:46You are defending, you have blood, but you don't hit it.
39:54When you're defending, you'll be in the hitting combination, champ.
39:59You are waiting too much.
40:00You are waiting too much.
40:01No, you have to wait.
40:03You need to hit it more.
40:05And more.
40:06Please.
40:07Not yet, not yet, not yet, not yet, coach.
40:10You're waiting too long.
40:11Do that, do that puppy.
40:13Champ, he's dying, he's dying.
40:14You don't have power bouncing out.
40:16Open down, open down.
40:17Mix it up.
40:18Over the body.
40:19Keep me in the air.
40:19Pump, make it.
40:21Pump, jump, pump, make it.
40:22Out, champ.
40:23Go ahead.
40:24Go ahead.
40:25What's your turn?
40:26You're here for.
40:27You're here.
40:27I'm here.
40:28I'm here for the game, huh?
40:28No?
40:34Eleven.
40:37Let the championship rounds begin.
40:47Round eleven.
40:52Ander Zayas has been pitching a near-perfect game at times here tonight.
41:00Of course, Abbas Morau doing some good work in spots,
41:03but just has not been able to create that consistency that we've seen out of him
41:09on his ascent towards a world title.
41:13You can tell his corner sensed it too, right?
41:14Abbas Morau's trainer telling him,
41:16please, please, I need you to throw more punches.
41:18You're being too defensive.
41:20You have to, you have to go.
41:22You have two rounds to keep your championship.
41:25And, I mean, that's desperation.
41:26And you can tell that, you know, on Abbas's face,
41:30he just looks a little bit defeated already.
41:33Oh, he just ran into a nice right hand.
41:34And you can tell, Christina, from just the way his feet are moving here,
41:38there's a little bit of that chaotic energy.
41:40He knows what's at stake now.
41:43Yeah, but, like, to Christina's point, his feet has to be set.
41:46There's not a whole lot of power coming in those punches
41:48when he's lunging forward like that.
41:50And with the desperation, he can open himself up
41:57and run into a shot that he doesn't see from Xander's eyes.
42:03And you'll see Xander likely do just enough here
42:06in these last two rounds.
42:07He'll throw a little combination.
42:09When his back touches the ropes,
42:10he'll slide out just like that and work his way around.
42:16It's worked.
42:17Abbas Morau has not been able to do anything at long.
42:20Only when they've been in close.
42:26Chopping right hand there on the inside from Morau.
42:31Back comes Zayas with a left hook to the body.
42:35One of the best things I think about Zayas is
42:37that right there, good hand speed combinations.
42:41He throws about 75 punches a round.
42:43I mean, that's a three-middleweight.
42:4675 punches a round, that's a lot.
42:49That's a lot of artillery.
42:50Well, and that's a good distinction too, Tim,
42:53because I think sometimes people will see a boxer
42:56who moves in any respect and they call it running.
42:59Yes.
42:59If you're throwing 70 punches a round,
43:02you're not running.
43:03You're sliding and boxing and rolling.
43:05Yes.
43:06Such a good point.
43:07You see him moving around the outside, controlling this.
43:09You see Abbas Morau hunting going forward.
43:12And you always think that, especially the casual fans,
43:15are going to say, well, he was stalking him all night.
43:16He was running.
43:17He's outpunched.
43:18He's probably doubled his punch output.
43:20Has that in Zayas than Abbas Morau tonight
43:22and has been on the move.
43:24I know 15 seconds here of round 11.
43:31You say, why make it hard on yourself?
43:35Make it easy.
43:37That's what Zayas is trying to do.
43:41Zayas trying to make it easy.
43:45Island time for Zayas.
43:48Abbas Morau is frustrating.
43:52He is.
43:52He's not showing it, but he's frustrating.
43:54He's trying to make it easy.
43:55I don't see him.
43:56Pawns up.
43:56He's trying to make it easy.
43:58He's trying to make it easy.
44:01That's right.
44:02He's trying to make it easy to go on here.
44:04Okay?
44:04Don't get contact with it.
44:06Okay?
44:07Just don't get contact with it.
44:08That's right.
44:09Hold up.
44:10Right there.
44:11You're trying to move on to the side.
44:12Okay?
44:15Okay?
44:15So he just keeps going in this way, right?
44:17Yeah, right.
44:18Okay.
44:19I'm not going in.
44:21Ah, Anah.
44:23Ah, it's low to Dama, now.

44:51¿Podemos Xander Zayas
44:53en Puerto Rico
44:55y every second
45:01that ticks away here is valuable
45:03for Zayas
45:04he's got to be aware, he's got to be alert
45:07until the final belt
45:08he doesn't have to do much
45:11he's ahead on the scorecards, fouls in this corner
45:13I'm like hey, survive the onslaught
45:15tie them up
45:16don't allow him to get work in those hands
45:20see he's building confidence now
45:22All out pressure from Burrell, who leaps in with a good left hook.
45:31You know Xander wants to put on a show.
45:34You know he wants to get a knockout.
45:36He wants to, you know, his pride, his heart, all of that.
45:39But it's just not necessary at this point.
45:42It's not. It's not necessary.
45:45He's playing Russian roulette right now.
45:49He seems comfortable inside the pocket.
45:51Moral seems to be tiring out.
45:54Nope.
45:55He said, just needed to recharge for a second.
46:00Moral letting his hands fly with whatever he's got left.
46:04Back comes Zayas with a big uppercut.
46:11This is how unified title fights should look in the 12th round.
46:19It's crazy.
46:21I mean, we're going to sit back and enjoy the show at this point.
46:24Because these two are going to leave it all in the ring.
46:28But Xander Zayas is a little over a minute away from making history.
46:32And he's not just going to mail it in, of course.
46:34Ander Zayas, not resting on his laurels.
46:44Like what?
46:45Abbas Moral trying to produce.
46:47Because he's Puerto Rican, baby.
46:48Because he's Puerto Rican.
46:50Ha, ha, ha.
46:52That heart.
46:55And Moral produce heroics here in the final 45 seconds.
46:58You see the face.
47:04He said, F it.
47:05I'm going to work.
47:06Yeah.
47:07He looked at us like, I'm not stopping.
47:11I think this is putting on.
47:13He's putting on a show for the fans.
47:15That's what Xander's doing right now.
47:17I think he's in control.
47:18He knows what's going on.
47:25Maybe the new face of Puerto Rican boxing is showing the heart of Puerto Rican boxing.
47:36Final moments.
47:37Wow.
47:50Wow.
47:50Wow.
48:07And that, that, Tim, is what makes the sport.
48:37of boxing so beautiful.
48:39One second before, they were trying to take one another's heads off.
48:43And then, they can embrace like that.
48:45Oh, absolutely.
48:46Respect.
48:47Respect earned by both fighters tonight.
48:53And that's how you close a show.

50:00y le dieron a show.
50:02Y es por eso que es este tipo de ovation.
50:04Esto es maravilloso.
50:06You talk about showing tu corazón.
50:08Not showing heart in another sense.
50:10Yes, it is.
50:11That is a beautiful moment.
50:12And sportsmanship
50:14at the highest level.
50:16An unbelievable round 12 to him
50:18as we look back at him.
50:19Absolutely.
50:20I mean, I laid out.
50:21Because, I mean, I was going...
50:22I'm a fanboy.
50:23I was going crazy
50:25watching what I was watching
50:26because Xander Zayas
50:28didn't have to do that.
50:30He could have just boxed on the outside,
50:32you know, used his legs,
50:34made it ugly,
50:35and could have finished the fight.
50:36But he gave everyone at home watching
50:38and also the fans here in Puerto Rico
50:41that, hey, I'm here to fight
50:43and a great finish by this young man.
50:45And let's give it up to Abasa.
50:47He never stopped trying.
50:48He kept coming.
50:49But it just wasn't good enough.
50:50You know, he had a hard time
50:52setting his feet.
50:53Xander made sure of that.
50:55But he pressured all night.
50:58And I just love the way Xander
51:01was able to avoid all that pressure
51:03and give us a show.
