00:25But tensions between local and federal authorities are complicating the investigation.
00:30A U.S. law enforcement official told Reuters that Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos
00:34has blocked the FBI from accessing key evidence.
00:37That includes a glove and DNA samples from Nancy's home.
00:41The FBI sought to process these items at its National Crime Lab in Quantico, Virginia,
00:46but the sheriff has insisted on sending them to a private lab in Florida instead.
00:50The official said the decision is delaying federal assistance and risks slowing an already urgent case.
00:56A sheriff's spokesperson did not immediately respond to questions about the claims.
