00:02Anthropic said Wednesday it will pay the full cost of electricity price increases tied to
00:07its expanding U.S. data center network and cover 100% of grid upgrades needed to interconnect
00:12its facilities. In a blog post, the company said it will absorb expenses that might otherwise be
00:18passed to ratepayers and procure additional electricity generation to avoid tightening
00:23local supply. Anthropic also plans to deploy grid optimization tools to ease peak demand
00:28and maintain stable rates. Anthropic said the U.S. must build data centers quickly to stay
00:33competitive in AI and national security, but companies should not pass the costs on to rate
00:38payers. The pledge follows its $50 billion commitment to U.S. AI infrastructure starting in Texas and New
00:44York. Utilities sought $31 billion in rate increases last year, up from $15 billion,
00:51citing rising demand from data centers. For all things money, visit Benzinga.com.
