00:09alert that has been flagged in India. In fact, the 25-year-old nurse who had been infected by
00:15Nipah virus a month ago, unfortunately passed away today due to a cardiac arrest. Remember,
00:20this is the first Nipah virus death that has been reported in years. Let me take this to
00:24my colleague Tapas Sen Gupta joining us on the broadcast with further details on this
00:28particular case. Over to you Tapas.
00:58A lot of deliberations from the doctors. Today around 4 in the afternoon she has passed
01:03away. The government have said that this is not directly related to Nipah. She was infected
01:08with Nipah virus in the first place. She was tested negative. But later on due to comorbidity
01:13there were some infections which was caused due to Nipah virus in our lungs. And out of
01:18that our situation deteriorated over a period of time. And that is the reason that she died
01:25today in the evening. All precautionary measures are in place and government remains to be
01:29vigilant as the health department stated.
