00:01The USS Compensator handles like a cruise ship on choppy water.
00:07Why did you choose to build this?
00:09Why not?
00:17Howdy, howdy.
00:18How are you?
00:19Can I get a large ice water, please?
00:20This is a one-of-a-kind rig.
00:23And it was more to challenge myself than anything else.
00:25I wanted to see what was the biggest, most impractical vehicle I can build.
00:30And what's bigger and longer than a limo, nonetheless, a lifted limo.
00:35This was a massive build on a mini budget.
00:39Jordan bought a Lincoln Town Car limo for $1,200 and set about his monster conversion.
00:46It took me about three months to put this whole thing together.
00:48Three months of dang near 12-hour days.
00:51Building this 99% myself with minimal hand tools,
00:55a welder, torch, plasma cutter, a grinder, the impact, and a handful of wrenches.
01:01I spent between $8,000 to $10,000, and that's including the price of the limo.
01:07I was like a kid in a candy shop every bit of the progress.
01:12Why did you choose to build this?
01:14Why not?
01:15I've always wanted a limo for a long time.
01:18I've always saw limos and thought they were really unique rigs.
01:21Named the Compensator, this is unofficially the tallest Lincoln Town Car in the United States.
01:28Come on up, it won't hurt.
01:30The name's pretty self-explanatory.
01:35The Compensator is powered by a 4.6-litre engine, has air ride suspension, and it's sporting some pretty impressive
01:43rubber.
01:43These are military-grade spec tires.
01:47I purchased them off of eBay.
01:49They're a 53-inch tall by a 16-wide.
01:52They sit on a 20-by-14 wheel.
01:55The weight on one tire is 380 pounds a piece.
02:00The wheel itself is 55 pounds a piece.
02:03So you're over a gross of 400 pounds per wheel and tire on each one of these sold.
02:08I've added over 1,600 pounds of weight to this limo just in the drivetrain alone.
02:15While it's all fun and games off-road, navigating in town is a bit of a challenge.
02:22The car is not useful.
02:24It's hard to park.
02:25It's hard to drive around town.
02:27I gotta watch my corners, watch my blind spots at all times.
02:31Just for driving, I have a hammer mounted in the front and mounted in the rear.
02:35I typically keep them on at all times when I'm driving down the road.
02:39Unfortunately, I can't go through most drive-throughs anymore.
02:41The limo barely fit as it was bone-stock through drive-throughs.
02:44I max out the height bar, and it's not the easiest to park.
02:48The limo itself is kind of a challenge.
02:50I normally take up two spots, unfortunately.
02:53Sometimes three or four.
02:54Normally you'll catch me at the very end of a parking lot, not up front.
02:59The turning radius on the limo now is actually just slightly worse than it was stock.
03:05The turn radius when it was stock was very terrible.
03:08Now it's just a little bit worse than that.
03:12But that's the fun of it.
03:13I love the challenge of navigating through town.
03:16It's like an off-road course inside city limits.
03:21The USS Compensator handles like a cruise ship on choppy water.
03:26This is a hobby of mine, and that's where this has started out.
03:29Just having a passion and throwing stuff together and going, I want to build this.
03:33Now how do I make it work?
03:35How do the puzzle pieces fit?
03:37And so far, they fit pretty good.
03:39There's still kinks that I'm working out.
03:42I've already had cash offers for this thing.
03:45As much as I'd like to sell this and build something cooler, I don't think I could get rid of
03:49this one.
03:49I don't think I could sell the USS Compensator.
03:52It's almost too sentimental now.
03:55I use it for just driving around, showing it off, showing off my hobby, my project, my work so far.
04:01It's just an impractical vehicle that can be daily, and luckily enough, it's street legal in the state of Oregon.
04:07And I love the six-foot longhorns.
04:09They are kind of my pride and joy.
