00:00At the tip of a finger it transforms into a pickup truck.
00:07A very powerful car but powered by sustainable CNG natural gas.
00:13The Bedouin is beautiful.
00:15One clearly can see is the sparkle of thousands of small crystals in a bling bling way.
00:22Back in 2003, this was the future.
00:30A natural gas powered sports car that converted into a pickup truck.
00:39My name is Frank Krindernecht, I'm the CEO of Rinspeed and I'm an automotive futurist.
00:45Frank has been building cars for the Geneva Motor Show for 20 years.
00:54And this is just one of his many creations.
01:00The Bedouin at the tip of a finger it transforms into a pickup truck.
01:07The Bedouin which we built quite some years ago was to show sustainability.
01:12The Bedouin was powered by natural gas.
01:15When we built the vehicle in the early 2000s, batteries were still too weak to power a vehicle.
01:27And if you think the shape of this car looks familiar, well you'll be right.
01:32The Bedouin, our really eye-catcher based on a 911.
01:36It's set in beautiful and very soft leather.
01:41And then the seat bags are engraved by little crystals saying Rinspeed in a bling bling way.
01:48If I want to activate the backside to be transformed, I just hit a simple button and here we go.
01:57Obviously you need to be stationary to do so.
01:59And beneath everything, as it's in a 911, we have the rear six-cylinder engine.
02:06And what did Porsche think of Frank's creation?
02:10We had at the time a very good relationship.
02:12They looked at it positively because we never did really the unthinkable or too crazy stuff.
02:18Still within the outrageous we stayed on the ground.
02:21We still wanted to maintain the basic design lines.
02:25We did not want to obstruct the original design but to complement.
02:31And then we had to fit all the technology.
02:33We have to make it work on a relatively small amount of space.
02:41I'm now sitting in the Bedouin.
02:43What one clearly can see is the sparkle of thousands of small crystals.
02:49Not only in the doors but on the shift gear but also on the steering wheel.
02:54The steering wheel, by the way, looks kind of odd because it's not round.
02:58The reason is that the steering within a little bit more than 90 degrees turns fully to the right or fully to the left.
03:05But that in a progressive way which allows you much easier parking but more stable driving on the freeway.
03:16We showed the Bedouin for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show.
03:20The Geneva Motor Show still is on our agenda.
03:23Transformable vehicles today are still kind of rare because it means also a lot more money to be invested in the vehicle.
03:31And it's cheaper to have like two different sorts of vehicles instead of combining two in one.
03:38But it still is in the people's heads to have a car which serves many purposes.
03:45With many years of creating unique concept vehicles, you never know quite what's next from Frank and the team at Rinspeed.
03:53But one thing's for sure.
03:55Whatever they do, they'll do it in style.
04:01They're in style.
04:02Or just like, you know, a good way.
04:03But I think you can do it in style.
04:05Like, this is how you can get it in style.
04:06I think we're just going to get you sort of a little bit less on theШs ask.
04:07I think that you can get you.
04:08And we're just going to get you.
04:09And I think, you know, this is the same type of design.
04:11I think we've got you around the same type of design, you know, to do it in style.
04:15And that we don't know quite a bit more about this.
04:17But maybe you know, if we haven't used a lot of things using a handmade setup.
04:19And that doesn't even look at the same type of design or something like that.
04:22You can get your own anything.
04:24Or do you know what we're supposed to do?
04:26You know, I think there's a lot more detail.
