00:01Wakefield Council has announced plans to create a £3.5 million fund to help with the cost
00:07of school uniforms and to provide one-off winter fuel payments for some pensioners.
00:12The authority said the money would also be used to help teenagers access training and
00:17education and to address a shortage of local childcare provision.
00:21The council plans to set up the Wakefield District Investment from a share of profits
00:27following the winding up of Bridge Homes, an affordable housing project which operated
00:32as a joint venture with Vico Homes. Details are included in the council's final budget
00:37proposals which were expected to be agreed by cabinet members on the 17th of February.
