00:00Elon Musk is trading Mars for the moon. Ever the mercurial billionaire, Musk doesn't want to
00:07colonize Mars anymore, at least not anytime soon. And he's turning that dream towards a different
00:13part of the sky. Musk revealed on X that his rocket launching outfit SpaceX will now go full
00:18throttle into building a quote self-growing city on the moon within the next decade. So why trade
00:26the red planet for Earth's only natural satellite? Especially, especially after he previously called
00:32renewed attempts to get back to the moon a distraction. Well, the whole Mars thing turned
00:37out to be too hard. Musk says lunar trips are way easier. Rockets can launch every 10 days and get
00:44there in two versus waiting 26 months for Mars windows and a six month trip each way. The
00:50billionaire said the moon is faster and crucial to quote securing the future of civilization
00:56effectively putting Mars exploration on the back burner. Now Musk claims that a Martian
01:01city is still the long game, but the new moon city goal is first up on SpaceX's cosmic to-do
01:06list. The announcement comes as SpaceX continues to ride a wave of rocket launch contracts with
01:13NASA. Now Musk didn't offer a timeline though for when we'll be able to start checking realtor.com
01:18for lunar real estate.
