Welcome back, and if you are new here, I’m glad you found your way in. You are with Tales From the World’s Firesides, and I’m Clive Gilson, sharing stories from far afield and nearer to home.
Today we are heading to West Africa for a cheeky little tale called Why the Worms Live Underneath the Ground. You will find it in the Arokin Tales collection of West African folktales, and for this telling I have only tweaked the rhythm, keeping the spirit and flavour of the original. This version is adapted from Folk Stories from Southern Nigeria by Elphinstone Dayrell, first published in 1910.
If you would like more tales from Africa and the wider world, you can find my collections here: https://amzn.to/4kVf92t, and you can learn more about me and the project at clivegilson.com. Like, follow, or subscribe if you fancy, it helps these stories travel further and keeps the fire going.
