00:00Shocking development from Bangladesh, where another Hindu has been hacked to death in the country just 48 hours ahead of elections.
00:08A Hindu businessman, Sushain Chandra, was brutally hacked to death inside his own shop in Naaman Singh area.
00:13After the murder, the perpetrators pulled down the shutter and fled.
00:17The incident took place at 11 p.m. on Monday night at the Bogar Bazaar intersection in the Upazila,
00:23is what the Trishal Police Station officer has said.
00:26The victim here, Sushain Chandra Sarkar, was the owner of Mesa's Bhai Bhai Enterprise at the Bogar Bazaar intersection
00:34and a resident of the South Kanda village in the Upazila.
00:44Tensions continue in Bangladesh, where another Hindu has been hacked.
00:49There have been several attempts, in fact, to corner and intimidate Hindus in Bangladesh.
00:56The country, which is now, in fact, pole-bound, but that doesn't really, in fact, prevent or stop the police from,
01:04in fact, preventing these criminal activities, so to speak.
01:09A Hindu has now been killed once again, goes by the name of Sushain Chandra.
01:14Minorities have been coming under attack for weeks together in the country, where things remain politically unstable.
01:21There have been not one, but several instances of Hindus, businessmen who were hacked, set on fire last month,
01:29and now another has been hacked to death in the country.
01:33This just before elections in the country of Bangladesh.
01:38There's been a pattern to this as far as violence against Hindus is concerned.
01:42But the government there has dismissed all of this, but clearly, the hardliners are emboldened here, as is evident.
01:52Several attack on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh that we have been reporting on.
01:58Another Hindu has been hacked to death in Bangladesh is what we are learning.
02:02The victim was a 62-year-old, goes by the name of Sushain Chandra Sarkar.
02:09He was in his shop when he was attacked.
02:12This incident took place on Monday night at 11 o'clock.
02:15Images on your screen at this point in time of the victim, Sushain Chandra, who was killed.
02:2062-year-old.
02:22This comes just 48 hours ahead of elections in the country.
02:25This is a Hindu businessman, Sushain Chandra, is brutally hacked to death inside his own shop in Meyman Singh area.
02:33Bangladesh is headed to polls, but clearly, the law and order situation is something that the authorities have zero control over.
02:42I'm going to go straight across to Tapas.
02:44Tapas, this is a continuation of the pattern that we've seen on the attack on minorities, Hindu minorities in the country, isn't it?
02:51Well, yes, absolutely.
02:53It seems that the attack on Hindu minorities were elevated in Bangladesh just hours ahead of the election.
03:01And this is Sushain Chandra, another person who has been identified as a shopkeeper.
03:05While he was pulling down the shutter in his shop in Meyman Singh, he was hacked to death by some unknown assailant.
03:12And they killed him, they murdered him.
03:14And after that, the shutter was pulled down.
03:16Not major things have been looted, what the Prime Minister says at the moment.
03:20The investigation is on.
03:22And the question being raised once again, that if nothing was looted, so murder for gain was not the intent,
03:31then what could be the possible reason he was murdered brutally?
03:35The police have launched an investigation.
03:37They are not making any comment as of now.
03:39But yes, once again, we have seen a series of incidents starting from Deepu Tash and on.
03:43This is another such incident barely 36 hours before the election is to start in Bangladesh.
03:48This incident has once again sparked controversy as far as the safety, security of minorities in Bangladesh is concerned.
03:55You know, that's right.
03:57But the government is dismissed, saying that there isn't no pattern to all of this and that it's not like minorities are coming under attack.
04:04Hindu minorities are safe is what the government continues to maintain, you know, clearly misleading everyone.
04:10Well, yes, absolutely.
04:13The government has been very oblivious as far as their approach is concerned.
04:17And as we see, Deepu Tash's family have been granted financial aid today.
04:21And that the government is trying to publicize and say that they are not anti-minority.
04:26But time and again, it has the incidents that have been repeated here time and again prove that how the Hindu minorities are in danger, how their lives are in danger.
04:36And the government has assured in multiple locations, but they have failed multiple times to protect the rights of minorities and lives of minorities.
04:43And Sushin's murder is one another such incident, barely 36 hours ahead of the election, clearly pointing out at Yunus' government that he and his government and other functionaries have failed to protect the rights and lives of minorities, Hindu minorities in Bangladesh.
04:59Well, absolutely.
04:59And the focus now is really on the worsening law and order situation in the country, isn't it?
05:04Just ahead of elections and the failure of the interim administration, the interim government led by Mohamed Yunus.
05:11Well, yes, absolutely.
05:14The interim government itself is under a lot of pressure.
05:18And these kind of incidents only escalating by the day.
05:21It's not only about Sushin or about Deepu Tash, but at large, if you see the law and order situation in Bangladesh, it seems to be going out of hand.
05:29It's spiraled out of control in different districts.
05:32How the student bodies have, there's a heavy crackdown on student bodies.
05:37The interim month is also dead against Yunus' government.
05:41So something is wrong that the government is unable to tackle as of now.
05:44But since the election time is now and barely 36 hours left, it was anticipated that at least two to three days ahead of elections, things would be peaceful.
05:53But these kinds of incidents repeatedly happening only raises question that how peaceful the election would be.
05:58Because this time around, a lot of anticipations are there that there could be a violent clashes across Bangladesh during the election process is on.
06:05And after the election results are declared, there could be a volatile situation across Bangladesh.
06:11And these incidents are only indicating that things are not right, despite whatever claims Yunus and his government officials have been claiming so far.
06:21But as of now, they have failed heavily to maintain a proper law and order situation in the country and also to safeguard the rights and lives of the minority Hindus living in Bangladesh.
06:32Well, be with us.
06:33I'm just going to come back to you.
06:34Tapas, you mentioned about how the government of Bangladesh there has provided financial aid and housing construction assistance to Deepu Das, yet another minority who was killed.
06:44Remember, last year in the month of December, Deepu Chandradas, a young man from the Hindu community, was beaten and burned to death in the square master body area of the Bhaluka Upazila in Mayman Singh.
06:57And this killing occurred through a mob lynching. He was hanged from a tree. Those were horrific pictures.
07:02Remember, they had come in at this point in time, an event which was widely reported in India and even outside of India, putting the spotlight on the failure of the Muhammad Yunus government.
07:12Now, the Muhammad Yunus government, just a few hours before the elections, has decided to, in fact, offer help to Deepu's family.
07:21Deepu Das was the sole breadwinner for his family.
07:23The government has assured financial assistance to ensure overall security of the family is what they've said, including the construction of a permanent house for them to live in.
