00:00My name is Mark Morial. I proudly served as mayor of this great city. When cash money took over for the 99 and the 2000s.
00:20I'm here tonight. We love you, New York rappers. We love you, LA rappers. We love you, Atlanta rappers. But tonight is the night for cash money and the New Orleans rappers.
00:42Cash money has cut a tradition of great music, stewarding great artists who brought us joy and interpretation of our lives.
01:02So I'm proud tonight to present to them this proclamation. I'm doing it on behalf of all of you to say thank you and congratulations to these brothers who've made a difference, who've made us proud, and who are one of us.
01:25So give it up for Slim Baby Cash Money and let us back that thing up.
01:35So I'm not going to read the proclamation, but I want everyone to know that the music tradition of New Orleans is long.
01:54Back to Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson, but Cash Money, Cash Money has made this mark in hip-hop and 21st century music.
02:09So I'm going to ask you to give it up, give it up for the Cash Money record label.
02:19Thank you, Mark.
02:24Thank you to the National Urban League for your support of Cash Money for all the years.
02:30Every time we've met with you, Mark, and your organization, you've always been there for us and we'll always be there for you.
02:35I only want to say one thing.
02:36I've been representing Slim and Baby for over 30 years, and they are the largest.
02:42Cash Money officially is the largest independent black-owned record company in the world.
02:49In the world.
02:50To emphasize that, I want to tell you that over $3 billion in sales.
02:58That's what it'd be.
02:59Billion dollars in sales for Cash Money.
03:01And the happiest moments that I have seen my clients, Slim and Baby, haven't been on any of the gold and platinum records.
03:08It's been when they give back to the community that they're from, which is from New Orleans.
03:13That is when they are the most excited and the most happiest that I've ever seen them.
03:18And we have a new project, which I'm going to talk about.
03:21We're going to unveil it at some point in the next year.
03:24Mark, you're going to be a part of it.
03:26It's called the Cash Money Academy.
03:28And I cannot wait for everyone in this world to know what that's going to be about.
03:32I'd like to have my client, Slim, take it from here.
03:35Y'all know we love y'all and thank y'all.
03:49Because New Orleans has made us who we are.
03:51And we love everybody from across the world.
03:54We got a chance to experience things in other countries and other cities.
03:59But ain't nothing like New Orleans.
04:02You know what I'm saying?
04:05And New Orleans has made us.
04:07And we're going to show up and show off for the city tonight.
04:10So y'all get ready.
04:13Give it up.
04:17All right, God bless.
