00:54:37the same thing here um i think that i look forward to not just this portion of essence and
00:54:45um just getting a chance to see the brands and the tv shows and things like that but it's the
00:54:50fellowship for me that happens at the superdome you know you run into everybody and everybody
00:54:55has the same goal and that is to have a blast and so you show up the way you show up you ain't got
00:55:01to wear no heels no more you know we just go and we have a good time and it's just a great time so
00:55:08mine would have to be every time i step foot in that superdome what about you jess um okay so i
00:55:15have for that uh memory when i was 22 i came to essence fest and i was with my two best friends
00:55:23and it was the first time that i had drank anything i know i was i was late y'all but but it was the
00:55:30i had a hurricane and i remember being that's your first drink sir yeah that was a setup right
00:55:36tell my friends why did they let me do that i was so mad because i couldn't taste my poboy
00:55:43after i drank that drink it was so strong that i was like wait i just lost my taste buds and i was
00:55:50yelling at them i was so mad because i really wanted that poboy more than i wanted the drink
00:55:55but it had taken me out i might have to revisit a hurricane tonight give it a try now try to do
00:56:03i say you do i might have one with you won't it do it thank you yes amen i think my my best experience
00:56:11was was seeing the janet jackson concert there's something about when you come to essence and if
00:56:16you go to any of the concerts you get to see artists that it would take you five years or so if you were
00:56:23trying to see all of them in one lifetime where you get to see this much in entertainment some of
00:56:30the iconic artists that you've been waiting your whole life to see you get to see all that doing
00:56:36the fourth of july weekend what what better celebration is that so this is where i get my
00:56:41fix on music at when i comes here uh for each of you just to close it out if you could have one
00:56:48dream dinner guest anyone dead or alive who would it be
00:56:51hey we only gotta have one now i can't just cook a dish just for one person look i need at least a
00:57:02table of them are we talking food wise or conversation conversation okay just they're coming to dinner
00:57:08maybe you're cooking maybe maybe chef janard is cooking i'm gonna say the first people that came
00:57:13in my mind for me it's always like writers or historical i want to have a deep conversation
00:57:20y'all i want to get in your spirit so i'm i'm thinking like a tony morrison or a maya angelou or
00:57:30my grandmother my grandmother who passed three years before i was born and everyone says i move
00:57:39and and resemble her and she raised my mom and her siblings here as a single mom in the seventh ward
00:57:46and cooked like nobody's business apparently she was a domestic worker that she came home and like
00:57:54on sundays apparently entertained and had her drink and you know taught my mom and her siblings to make
00:58:02all the best foods that have then been passed down to us um so i would love to sit and have a real
00:58:08conversation with her you you know me when i think about it um there's someone i've always read his
00:58:17work and always admired and loved what he did when he was here it would be nelson mandela that's someone
00:58:23that i would really love to have a nice sit down because i think it is so important to have that kind
00:58:29of wisdom poured into us because i like sewing into others and i think it's important when you talk to
00:58:34people that are full of wisdom and it has knowledge and they can give you some in depth on what life
00:58:40should look like or where we should envision it that's somebody i would love to serve a meal to
00:58:45because you know when you feed people they talk
