00:00Not only do you have female directors on this show,
00:02you also have black female directors.
00:05So what is that like?
00:06What's the difference between having a black woman
00:09helm the scene versus other?
00:11So when it comes to character choices
00:13that we have to make, having a black female director,
00:17there's a different sort of protection
00:20that black women have when it comes
00:21to dealing with black men, our representation,
00:24why we make our choices, our motivations, all of that.
00:27Being able to dig into vulnerability
00:29in a different way or rather pull it out of a scene
00:32where it may not be interpreted on the page.
00:35So having a black female director is truly integral
00:39to the narrative when it comes to being full well-rounded
00:43because it gives us a different perspective
00:47on what love is, what hope is, what are we fighting for,
00:51and how we fight, how we love, how we do things,
00:53and how we understand each other.
00:55And I'm going to tell you right now,
00:56a testament to that sitting right there, Stacey Muhammad.
00:59Because she, uh, a killing it.
