Summer and fall of 1918
When all our boys came home

Shot to the hip with war
Shot to the quick with memories that will never fade
Full to the brim with aftereffects of
the Armistice

Oh if we had kept them safe
Kept them at home with us
So many parents
So many families
So many sisters must have cried

So much wedded bliss half denied

We wouldn't have lost our boys
Our young men
The pride of our nation\n\nA. David Abraham
