00:00В Лос-Анджелесе, где есть много
00:03делать, including head
00:04downtown to the Crypto Arena
00:06и watch some NBA
00:08basketball for the Lakers
00:09и the Warriors.
00:11It's been an emotional week
00:11in the league.
00:12Trade deadline over.
00:13Big exhale for so many
00:14players.
00:16And now desperately looking
00:17forward to that coveted
00:19All-Star break that comes up
00:20next week.
00:22LeBron James and the Lakers,
00:23it's their second game back
00:24after that eight-game,
00:2616-day road trip going up
00:28against Draymond Green.
00:30Admitted those trade rumors
00:31were tough, but he's ready
00:32once again to fight for
00:34Dubnation.
00:36That's the Warriors and the
00:38Lakers on an NBA Saturday
00:40primetime on ABC.
00:42And it's presented by Wingstop.
00:46And good evening, everyone,
00:47along with Richard Jefferson
00:48and Tim Legler, Mike Green
00:49on hand, Lisa Salters with us
00:51as well.
00:52Warriors and Lakers is always
00:53such a fun matchup.
00:54And this year, of course,
00:55it's because the matchup of
00:56two of the most offensive
00:57firepowers in the NBA in Luka
01:00Doncic and Steph Curry.
01:01But they're both out, so the
01:03opportunity to get fireworks
01:04from other players.
01:06Richard, let's start with the
01:07Lakers.
01:07Obviously, LeBron James is going
01:09to provide some of that
01:10fireworks, but now Austin
01:11Reeves is back after that long
01:12absence as he continues what
01:14has been a magical season for
01:16him.
01:16He's having a magical season.
01:18You're right, Mike.
01:18He's averaging over 26-5-5.
01:22And for me, I believe he would
01:23have made his first All-Star
01:24game if not further injury.
01:26But what is he?
01:27He's a three-level scorer.
01:28He's able to handle and pick
01:29and roll.
01:30He's been attacking the paint
01:31relentlessly, getting the free
01:33throws, and then the step-back
01:35free, shooting 37% from three.
01:37But what I love is his movement
01:38off the ball.
01:39That's what makes him so deadly.
01:41And if you go back to his game
01:43against Philly, 35 points.
01:46And, Mike, that was on a 25-minute
01:48restriction.
01:49So I'm sure he's ready to get some
01:51more minutes to see what he's able
01:52to do.
01:52A spectacular performance and an
01:54important win for the Lakers.
01:56Meanwhile, for Golden State, again,
01:57Steph Curry's out.
01:58Obviously, Jimmy Butler's out.
02:00For this team, though, it has to be
02:01done by committee now.
02:02Well, without their two best
02:03players, the formula for Golden
02:05State is really quite simple.
02:07You're now going to rely on a top
02:08six-ranked defense in this league
02:10to compete every night.
02:11And then you're going to get
02:12increased production from guys
02:14that are getting expanded
02:15opportunities, minutes, touches,
02:17shots, all of it.
02:18You see right there, four guys
02:20that are going to be in that mix.
02:21And none of those guys have taken
02:22more advantage of that opportunity
02:24than Pat Spencer.
02:25Coming off a game in which he had
02:2720 points, going six for ten
02:28from the three-point line.
02:30In one of Steve Kerr's best wins
02:32of the year, a comeback win on the
02:34road, Pat Spencer has jumped over
02:36the opportunity, and he has earned
02:38the trust of Steve Kerr.
02:40Look for him to be, once again,
02:42really important for the Warriors
02:43as they try to put up a number
02:45that's good enough to hold off the
02:47Lakers.
02:47And he's earned going from a
02:48two-way contract to a standard
02:50deal.
02:51Meanwhile, Luke Kennard, his first
02:53game as a Laker, got acquired
02:55from the Atlanta Hawks, number
02:57one in the NBA in three-point
02:58percentage.
02:59He'll play tonight.
03:00Lakers, Warriors from Los Angeles
03:01coming up.
03:04NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC
03:06is presented by Wingstop.
03:08Made to order, always fresh.
03:11Order at wingstop.com and lock in
03:13your flavor.
03:14This presentation of NBA
03:16Saturday Primetime presented by
03:17Wingstop will continue after this
03:19message and a word from our ABC
03:21station.
03:27Push.
03:30It's everyone's job to come and
03:32bring the energy, bring the fight.
03:35Nelson on a breakaway, lays it in!
03:37At the buzzer!
03:39Push like you've been here before.
03:40Poked away by LeBron.
03:41Here's LeBron on a breakaway.
03:44Slam dunk!
03:45And know exactly where you want to go.
03:47We've got to keep our foot on the gas
03:49going into all-star break.
03:51What a victory tonight for Golden State.
03:55Guys continue to fight.
03:56Says a lot about the character.
03:58Or get pushed aside.
04:04Sellout crowd for the Warriors and the
04:06Lakers.
04:06Second meeting of the season.
04:09They have not played since opening
04:11night.
04:11Just a gorgeous evening.
04:13They have a Santa Monica Pier.
04:16Let's look at tonight's starting
04:18lineups.
04:19And they are delivered by Taco Bell.
04:21Lots of changes to all the various
04:23injuries and trades.
04:26Spencer with his sixth start.
04:27Melton his second.
04:29Santos with just his seventh.
04:31Steve Kerr has juggled now 24 different
04:34starting lineups this season.
04:36And meanwhile for the Lakers, Rui Hachimura
04:39back in the starting lineup.
04:40Jackson Hayes getting his fifth start
04:43because a late stretch, that is, as
04:45DeAndre Ayton had some knee issue.
04:48So, Ayton will not play.
04:50As for the first time tonight, we check
04:52in with Lisa Salters.
04:53Hey, Lisa.
04:54Hey, Mike.
04:54Well, the Lakers say they are not overly
04:56concerned about the hamstring injury that
04:58will keep Luka Doncic off the floor tonight.
05:01And right now they are calling him day
05:04to day.
05:04It happened two nights ago in the second
05:06quarter of the Lakers game against the
05:0876ers.
05:09An apparent non-contact injury.
05:11But you could see Luka grab the back of
05:13his left leg before limping back to the
05:15locker room.
05:16It's considered to be a mild hamstring
05:18strain.
05:19So that's good news for L.A.
05:21But because of the nature of soft tissue
05:23injuries, they want to be careful with how
05:25they handle this.
05:26According to J.J.
05:26Redick, the level of concern, again, about
05:29this being a long-term issue is low.
05:31But with the All-Star break coming up, they've
05:33got to figure out how they want to manage this
05:35injury over the next six days.
05:37One thing that J.J. did tell us was having
05:39been Luka's teammate and now being his
05:42coach, he knows that Doncic wants to
05:44play and that if he could, he would.
05:47Mike?
05:48Well, the first eight games, Lisa, that
05:50Doncic missed, they were four and four.
05:52A lot of that's different because Reeves has
05:54missed a bunch.
05:55LeBron James has missed a bunch.
05:57But not just the NBA's leading score, second in
06:00assists, number eight in minutes per game.
06:02There's a lot to fill in there, Legs.
06:04No doubt.
06:04And you look at Austin Reeves coming back, still in a
06:07minute's restriction.
06:08But now they've got that other threat with the ball in
06:11his hands to break down defenses.
06:13So LeBron James will get a lot of help tonight in that
06:16regard.
06:17Richard, it's been a week of anxiety and nerves all over
06:20the NBA as people just thinking about, am I going to
06:23get traded as a possibility?
06:25Warriors certainly had that, all the rumors going on with
06:27them.
06:28How much nicer it is if they can just concentrate on
06:31basketball right before the All-Star break?
06:33Oh, you always see teams make a little bit of a stretch.
06:36I was always taught you can pick up one or two games right
06:39before the All-Star break because teams are already on
06:42break.
06:42And you can't pick up one or two games when teams get back
06:46because they still haven't come back from All-Star break.
06:48So this is a crucial time for both teams.
06:52Wednesday is the last night of games before now the longer
06:55All-Star break.
06:56So some important games prior to that.
07:01Warriors won the first meeting again on opening night.
07:04The leading scorers in that game were Doncic and Jimmy
07:06Butler.
07:07Neither will be in the lineup tonight.
07:09And both teams coming off really impressive victories on
07:14Thursday night.
07:16Lakers at home against Philadelphia.
07:20And the Warriors on the road at Phoenix.
07:21Moody shot blocked.
07:23Hayes got a piece of it.
07:23Spencer runs and tracks it down.
07:25Fires up a three.
07:26That won't go.
07:28And a loose ball foul.
07:30It's going to go against Marcus Smart.
07:31DeSantos got knocked out of Smart.
07:34Picks up his first.
07:39Santos has been one of the great stories.
07:41Had an excellent game the other night.
07:42He actually called his game in the victory over the Suns
07:45the best game of his career.
07:47And that's a great time to have it.
07:49Steve Kerr has mentioned Santos multiple times over the season.
07:54Just talking about how he's grown and earned his trust
07:56just like Spencer.
07:58Speaking of growth and trust,
08:00Pat Spencer is slowly becoming
08:02one of the really cool stories in the NBA.
08:07Spencer, of course, the former lacrosse All-American,
08:10one of the great lacrosse players,
08:12now a big-time impact player in the NBA
08:15as Hachimura knocks down the three.
08:17He continues to shoot the three ball so well.
08:19That's beautiful action right there.
08:21And LeBron, perfect person to deliver that pass
08:23about 30 feet on a rope
08:24directly where Hachimura needed it.
08:27Moody knocks down his jumper.
08:31Lakers looking to push.
08:34Lakers come into the game,
08:35tied for fourth in the West.
08:37Only one back of third
08:38despite all the injuries to their top players.
08:40Hachimura's shot in and out.
08:43Again, their big three have only played together
08:4610 games out of 50.
08:49DeAnthony Melton misses.
08:50Santos goes and grabs the offensive board.
08:54Warriors got a lot of high-energy players out there.
08:57And that's a theme, the long rebounds,
08:59because of the number of three-point shots
09:00Golden State takes.
09:02And Santos, a guy very active running them down.
09:04Everybody touching it on this possession.
09:07Laravia with a good contest,
09:09perhaps all through the shot from Moody.
09:14James guarded by Moody.
09:16Laravia in the corner.
09:17Warriors playing some zone.
09:22Marcus Smart breaks the zone with a three.
09:26How about what Steve Kerr told us, Richard?
09:27They played so much zone,
09:29like over 40 possessions and more on some games.
09:32Well, and it's a matter of mixing it up.
09:34If you don't have your normal firepower,
09:36you know, you have no Steph,
09:37you have no Jimmy Butler in these moments,
09:40and you have guys that are playing unusual minutes.
09:42So trying to find times for rest,
09:45simplifying things,
09:46a zone does that for both sides.
09:47Jackson Hayes, pass went awry.
09:52Turnover, melted pushing the other way.
09:57Warriors have been a good defensive team all year.
10:01JJ Redick said they have a sick defense,
10:03meaning in a good way,
10:04even without Jimmy Butler.
10:06Dream on green, shot doesn't go.
10:08Their defense is seventh rated in the NBA.
10:11And a loose ball foul will go down the other way.
10:13And we talk about the Lakers operating offensively here
10:17against Golden State.
10:18And look, Golden State, excellent at that.
10:21Rotating on dribble penetration.
10:22And that means if you get the ball to the weak side,
10:25there are going to be shots to be had tonight
10:27for the Lakers role players.
10:29Yeah, but also this Golden State team,
10:31they're playing all smalls.
10:32So it's just their ability to rotate on defense
10:34makes it a little bit more difficult.
10:37James fires away his three-pointer.
10:40That's off the mark.
10:41Sandals the rebound.
10:41The Warriors in their game the other night.
10:4337 of their first 48 shots were three-pointers.
10:47That's an incredible number.
10:49As Green misses that,
10:50they're 0 for 6 to start from 3 tonight.
10:52And an insane number.
10:54In the last three games,
10:55the Golden State Warriors,
10:5763% of their field goal attempts
10:59have been three-point shots.
11:00Yikes.
11:01Nice feet inside.
11:03Hayes gathers and finishes strong.
11:05And the Lakers have a four-point lead.
11:06Lakers in a bit of his own as well.
11:19Matt Spencer steps back.
11:21Three-pointer can't go.
11:22Jackson Hayes the rebound.
11:24JJ Redick wants a lot of transition buckets
11:27tonight without Luka Doncic
11:29who's so effective in the half court.
11:31Laravia catch and shoot.
11:33Oh, and the two things
11:35that Steve Kerr talked about.
11:37Top of the priority list.
11:39Stop penetration or transition
11:41and keep them off the foul line,
11:43particularly when Austin Reeves
11:45gets on the floor.
11:46A brutal start.
11:47Yeah, that's my shooting the ball.
11:50Rifle pass.
11:50He thought Laravia was going to cut to the basket.
11:52Instead, it's the second turnover
11:54for the Lakers.
11:59And again, Marcus Smart.
12:01I like it.
12:02You have the advantage.
12:03Hayes is big down there.
12:05If they get a switch,
12:06throw that ball up there
12:07either for a lob
12:07or allow him to finish
12:08and collapse the defense.
12:11See them playing off Draymond Green.
12:12In that zone.
12:13Nice feet inside.
12:14Gary Payton, who just entered the game,
12:15gets his first bucket
12:16on a beautiful pass from Green.
12:18Yeah, and some of that will be there
12:19because you have to overplay
12:21against this team
12:22because you know what shot
12:23they're hunting first.
12:24So if you can get guys
12:25leaning and overextending,
12:27there are opportunities for back cuts
12:29or slashes from the weak side.
12:32James backing in Spencer.
12:34Another feed, Pace.
12:35That time missed it.
12:37Draymond Green on the defense that time.
12:42Spencer throws it in the corner.
12:44Melton.
12:44Just so good to see him healthy again.
12:47Moody launches.
12:48And that's good.
12:49And the foul.
12:51Moody got hit.
12:51LeBron James with the personal.
12:53And he'll head to the line as well.
12:57He's putting his hands out
12:59like he doesn't know what happened,
13:00but he's not asking for a review.
13:02So let's check this out.
13:03Again, defense collapsed.
13:05I like the relocation of Moody.
13:08Oh, I don't...
13:08Let's see.
13:10His feet.
13:11Ah, yeah.
13:14The landing zone.
13:15No doubt.
13:15Feet got tangled up on the landing.
13:18I'll tell you what.
13:18People, I don't know if you can appreciate
13:20how difficult that shot is
13:21when you just back up
13:23directly from the block.
13:24You have to be aware
13:25that you're not going to step on the sideline.
13:27At the same time,
13:28you don't want to take a long two.
13:29It's a very tight window over there
13:31when you're just backpedaling to the corners.
13:33That's a nice job by Moody with awareness.
13:36And it, guys,
13:36it's also difficult
13:37learning to change the way
13:39your whole life you've contested
13:41three-pointers
13:42because you really have to change
13:43the way you did it from the past.
13:45They're going on for a number of years
13:46that clearly it's not going to
13:47full adjustment yet.
13:49I don't think there'll ever be
13:50a full adjustment
13:50because you look at the volume
13:52of threes that are being shot
13:53so the volume of contest
13:55so the fouls are just naturally
13:56going to go off.
13:57So it's just a math thing.
13:58Yes.
13:58Yeah, basically.
13:59Hachimura cuts.
14:00Double-team.
14:01Blocked.
14:02And a jump ball.
14:03Terrific help defense.
14:04Three Warriors surrounding
14:06Hachimura.
14:07And they'll jump it up.
14:10And we'll also have our first time out.
14:13No Golden State.
14:14An early two-point lead
14:16here in the first quarter
14:17from Los Angeles.
14:20NBA doubleheader
14:21on ABC and ESPN.
14:23ABC NBA Sunday matchup.
14:25Knicks and Celtics from Boston.
14:2612.30 Eastern.
14:27And ESPN at 3 Eastern.
14:29Clippers and T. Wilts from Minnesota.
14:32NBA Countdown kicks it all off
14:33at noon Eastern.
14:35Jump ball.
14:36Hachimura.
14:37And Draymond Green.
14:38Here you go, Rich.
14:39I'm going Hachimura.
14:42Oh, Draymond's crafty in these situations.
14:44He's trying to foul.
14:45There you go.
14:45Does that count as a win
14:46even though Hachimura tipped it?
14:49I think it does.
14:50It's all about possession.
14:51Possession.
14:51I'll give you possession.
14:53Wow.
14:53I'll give him possession.
14:54Very kind.
14:56Green whips it in the corner.
14:57Al Horford just checks in.
14:59Can't get that to fall.
15:00James the rebound.
15:00Quick outlet to Smart.
15:02Excellent transition defense
15:04from the Warriors.
15:05That's a great point.
15:06Five blue jerseys.
15:07We had a great deal with that.
15:08Sprinting back to get ahead
15:09of the basketball.
15:10Looked like Marcus Smart
15:11when he first caught it.
15:12Thought about getting to the rim.
15:14Golden State shut that down.
15:15Reeves coming off the bench.
15:16Third straight game.
15:17Still under a minute's restriction.
15:18James fakes.
15:21Drives.
15:21Gets inside.
15:22Lefty layup.
15:23Gorgeous play from James.
15:24And who's from the crowd.
15:25Game tied.
15:30Brandon Pajemski in the game as well.
15:33Draymond Green tries a three.
15:36They're now one for 11
15:37from long distance.
15:40James misfires there.
15:42Pajemski catches and runs.
15:44Pajemski was pretty sick the other day.
15:45Had to come out of the game
15:46in that victory.
15:47Draymond Green turns it over.
15:48actually throws it right to Reeves.
15:51Reeves goes to the corner.
15:52Hachimura loves that spot.
15:54Can't get it.
15:56And Horford the rebound.
15:57Both teams looking to push.
16:02Draymond Green back up top.
16:04The Anthony Melton goes inside
16:06and backs it home.
16:07You know what's crazy?
16:09Is that if you go one for 11
16:11from three, driving into paint
16:13into the paint is also an alternative.
16:16And that was great because they actually
16:17Draymond catches that ball
16:19at about 10 feet
16:20and forced the defense
16:21to turn around
16:22and at least take a look
16:22at the lane
16:23and it allowed Melton
16:24to attack the closeout.
16:26Alley-oop pass went awry
16:27but they still have possession
16:28and Melton can't hit.
16:31Yikes.
16:31One for 12 to start.
16:33This is the way they're playing.
16:34I guarantee you one thing.
16:35They're not going to stop.
16:37They know at some point
16:38they're going to string
16:39some makes together.
16:40Horford breaks it up nicely.
16:42Especially the fact
16:42they're still up two
16:43despite they're shooting
16:44that percentage.
16:45Lajemski launches his.
16:51Can't that.
16:52Back to go.
16:52Payton the rebound
16:53banks it up and in.
16:55The smallest power forward
16:57in the NBA.
16:58Gary Payton.
17:00So if you're shooting
17:01that many threes
17:02and you're shooting
17:03six for 19
17:04maybe driving the paint
17:06a little bit more.
17:07Mix it up.
17:08Mix it up a little bit.
17:08Yeah.
17:09Keep guessing.
17:10Look who comes into the game.
17:11Luke Kennard
17:12his first game
17:13was acquired Thursday
17:14from Atlanta
17:15for Gabe Vincent
17:15and his second round pick.
17:18And Atlanta
17:18played 47 games
17:2046 games
17:21all off the bench
17:22and shooting
17:22just under 50%
17:25from three.
17:26Number one in the NBA.
17:28And that's not
17:29unusual for him.
17:30He's led the NBA
17:31twice in three point shooting.
17:33Guys what do you think
17:34about that pickup?
17:34Well it's one of the best
17:35three point percentage
17:37shooters this league
17:38has ever seen.
17:39And Luke Kennard
17:40gives the Lakers
17:40something they desperately
17:42need.
17:42This team is 23rd
17:43in the league
17:44and made threes per night.
17:46They need more punch
17:46for the perimeter.
17:48Reeves tries from the perimeter
17:49can't get it.
17:50Maxi Kleber
17:50who had an excellent game
17:51the other night
17:52can't get the rebound.
17:53Warriors come the other way.
17:59Guy Santos
18:00the Brazilian
18:01looking for an opening.
18:04Rookie Richard
18:05has come on.
18:07Vajemski
18:07with six to shoot.
18:08Good defense
18:09from Hachimura.
18:11Payton fakes
18:12shot clock at two
18:13steps back
18:13a contested three
18:14got it
18:15Harry Payton
18:16and a rare three-pointer
18:17here on the first quarter.
18:19I can't believe it.
18:21These are all the people
18:22that knocked out threes.
18:24Shooting just 30%
18:25on the season
18:26from three-point range.
18:27That's an up
18:28from their percentage
18:29tonight.
18:30Hachimura cross court
18:34Vanderbilt
18:35makes his drive on Santos
18:37kicks it back up top.
18:39Reeves going to have
18:39to hoist it up.
18:40Drives the floater
18:41up off the glass.
18:42Won't go.
18:44And Reeves gets
18:45his own rebound.
18:47Shot clock reset
18:48at the 14.
18:50And Santos
18:51called for the foul.
18:53You know
18:54we're mentioning
18:54Kennard
18:55and what a good
18:56shooter is.
18:57Richard you were
18:57talking earlier today.
18:59He's not a volume
19:00three-point shooter.
19:01Do they need
19:02for him to
19:02shoot more
19:03and fire away more?
19:05Well I think
19:05JJ made a great point.
19:06He's a basketball
19:07player also.
19:08So they can run
19:09plays for him.
19:11Not necessarily
19:11just to shoot
19:12but because of the
19:13gravity that he
19:14attracts
19:14he will open up
19:15shots for other
19:16players and it's just
19:17up to them to knock
19:18it down as you see
19:18Rui knock down
19:19that mid-range.
19:20Well if any team
19:21needed a guy that
19:22does exactly what
19:23Luke Kennard does
19:24with the three guys
19:25they have that
19:25handle the ball
19:26in this team
19:26and the number of
19:27times they draw
19:28multiple defenders
19:29to their area
19:30the spacing is just
19:32going to fit perfectly
19:33with the Lakers
19:34offense.
19:35Santos can't get
19:36a good ball movement
19:36but does not result
19:38in a main basket.
19:39Five-point lead
19:39for the Warriors
19:40still.
19:42Lakers shooting
19:42poorly as well.
19:43Now the turnover
19:44the turnover's
19:44hurt them.
19:45Vanderbilt gets it
19:46back.
19:48First shot
19:48as a Laker
19:49goes down.
19:50That's fitting.
19:52Let me introduce
19:52yourself to your
19:54new fan base.
20:00Well this is what
20:01he's here to do
20:02and talk about
20:03a way to make sure
20:05you get a nice
20:06welcome as a Laker.
20:07Luke Kennard
20:08first touch
20:08three points.
20:16a percentage this season
20:18but he's number two
20:19in career three-point
20:20percentage behind
20:21Steve Kerr
20:23and Kerr has denied
20:24that he's going to
20:25double-team
20:26Kennard all game long
20:28to keep his three-point
20:29percentage down
20:29and keep him at number
20:30one.
20:31Yeah he's a percentage
20:32guy not a volume guy.
20:33Legs is over here
20:34sweating as he sees
20:35his players just drop
20:36him lower and lower.
20:37Look you pull for
20:38other shooters
20:39to a certain extent
20:41Luke Kennard.
20:43He passed me a couple
20:44years ago.
20:45You were not happy.
20:45Not that I noticed.
20:47Off the turnover
20:48Vanderbilt.
20:49Kennard picks it up.
20:51By the way Richard
20:51you're 190th on that list.
20:53Hey top 200
20:54that's not bad.
20:55It's great.
20:56I'll take it.
20:57Vanderbilt a three.
20:58That's good.
20:59Vanderbilt who of course
21:01has tried to improve
21:02his three-point shooting.
21:04Obviously erratic this year
21:05but knocks that one down.
21:06Lakers up by one.
21:07And here's those.
21:08I mean he's going to
21:09earn more minutes
21:10because the defense
21:11the rebounding for the
21:12minutes he plays off
21:13the charts.
21:14So occasionally knock
21:15down that corner three.
21:16It really helps that
21:18plus minus when you're
21:19out there with this
21:19group.
21:20Quentin Post has come
21:21out for Golden State.
21:22Nice pass inside of
21:23Pajemski.
21:24Banks it in.
21:25Beautiful look for
21:26Moody.
21:26There is no team in
21:28the last decade that
21:29has run backdoor cuts
21:30and slip cuts better
21:32than the Golden State
21:32Warriors.
21:33They get one or two
21:34of those every night
21:35and when Steph Curry's
21:36in the game they get
21:36three or four of them.
21:37Kennard with his first
21:38Laker turnover.
21:39Well Richard lines up
21:40the three.
21:42Ball picked up.
21:43Richard finds
21:44Horford.
21:44Horford lays it up
21:45and another good hustle
21:47play from the Warriors.
21:48Absolutely and again
21:48it's those long rebounds
21:50so you have to box out
21:51differently against the
21:52team that shoots
21:52this many threes.
21:54You can't just run to
21:54the paint because those
21:56balls are going to kick
21:56out over your head.
21:57Golden State doing a nice
21:58job at running them down
21:59earning extra possessions.
22:02Moody harassing reads.
22:03Now Horford's on him.
22:04Double team Hachimura.
22:06Little fake.
22:07Reeves gets a wide open
22:08look.
22:09Can't get at the fall.
22:10Good boxing out
22:11from Pajenski.
22:13Lakers struggling
22:13offense.
22:14Not only is Dodgers
22:15number one in the NBA
22:16scoring, he's number one
22:17in the NBA in first quarter
22:19points per game.
22:20Usually gets them going
22:21early.
22:22But obviously out.
22:23Foul on the pass.
22:24So it'll be a side out.
22:32Upcoming national TV
22:33schedule.
22:34ABC Sunday.
22:35Nixon Celtics.
22:37In Boston.
22:37ESPN Sunday.
22:38Clippers and T-Wolves
22:40in Minnesota.
22:40On Peacock Monday.
22:42Games from Orlando.
22:43And the Lakers will host
22:44OKC.
22:48LeBron has switched
22:49shoes three different
22:50times in this first quarter.
22:51You've had all four pairs
22:52today.
22:55I'm trying to.
22:55I saw the all silver one.
22:57Then he hit the black ones.
22:58I'm not sure what these are.
23:00But.
23:00So what's that about?
23:01What's he trying to find?
23:02I have no idea.
23:03There's some comfort level
23:04he's looking for right now.
23:05I asked him for the
23:05Arizona pair.
23:06I still haven't gotten
23:07a pair yet.
23:08Five second count by the
23:09way.
23:09You don't see that very
23:10often.
23:11Especially in the first
23:11quarter.
23:14Kennard.
23:16James goes all the way
23:17to the basket.
23:18And fouled by Post
23:19who just happened to be
23:20in the wrong place
23:21at the wrong time.
23:22And free throws
23:23for LeBron James.
23:30He's just got a bag of
23:31shoes over there.
23:32I will say this.
23:32In Cleveland
23:33they have like the shoe
23:34room for because there's
23:35hundreds of shoes that
23:36come in.
23:37Bron has his own
23:38section.
23:39So you go back there
23:40and it's just a wall of
23:41all of his shoes.
23:42Only him.
23:43How big is the shoe room?
23:45It's a warehouse.
23:46I'm not lying.
23:47It's a warehouse filled
23:48with shoes for every
23:49player.
23:49All the teams.
23:51He just has a lot
23:52more.
23:52How many times did you
23:53change your shoes,
23:55your sneakers during the
23:56course of the season?
23:57Constantly?
23:57Every game?
23:58No.
23:58I wasn't superstitious.
24:00Some guys did wear a new
24:02pair every game even when
24:03I was playing.
24:04But I mean typical was to
24:05get about six, seven games
24:07out of a pair.
24:08You probably would.
24:08I was probably two or
24:09three.
24:10Two or three games.
24:10There's a little bit more
24:11torque.
24:13Shot clock turned off
24:15with ten seconds
24:17remaining.
24:19Pajemski.
24:21Rifles will pass post
24:23wide open.
24:24Cannot connect.
24:26James throws it out and
24:27throws it away.
24:27Fitting ending to that
24:28first quarter with another
24:29missed three.
24:31But despite the fact that
24:33Golden State shot two for
24:3417 from three-point range,
24:37they actually lead the game.
24:39Six Laker turnovers
24:40contributing to that.
24:41First quarter complete here
24:42in L.A., 21-20, Golden State
24:45in front.
25:06You guys are up one
25:07despite not shooting very
25:09well from three.
25:10Just what's working
25:11defensively for you so far?
25:12We're just making it
25:13tough for them.
25:14Making them take tough
25:14twos, tough shots, not
25:16getting them any easy
25:16looks.
25:17And if we take care of
25:18the ball, we should be
25:18able to run up quite a few
25:20good leads.
25:21Now, you had seven points
25:22in the first quarter, so
25:24you're playing well.
25:25Just what's feeling good
25:26for you?
25:27Just trying to find easy
25:28ways, easy buckets.
25:29I hit down a crazy step
25:30back three.
25:32Me and Wardell have been
25:32working on that, so I was
25:34able to put that out today
25:34and that drop.
25:35So if we keep getting good
25:36looks and keep moving the
25:37ball, I think we'll find
25:37each other.
25:38Good luck the rest of the
25:39way.
25:39Thank you.
25:40Mike.
25:40All right, to show you
25:41how kind Lisa is as
25:42Peyton fights for the
25:43rebound, she said to
25:44Gary, you guys aren't
25:45shooting very well from
25:46three after a two for 17.
25:49I think that's accurate
25:51though.
25:52Pretty accurate.
25:52That's, no, she just shows
25:54how kind Lisa is.
25:56Mountain pass, deflected.
25:57There's Kennard's first
25:58steal.
25:58He's at his first three, his
26:00first turnover, his first
26:01steal.
26:02Nice pass inside.
26:03James Butler, Arabia missed
26:04it.
26:05And a goaltend.
26:09Count the bucket.
26:10Lakers back up by one.
26:11Yeah, this is a priority for
26:14the Warriors, right?
26:15Get back, but you have to
26:16know that they're always
26:18going to have somebody
26:18behind you, whether it's
26:19the throw ahead in the
26:20early transition or even
26:22as they come over half
26:23court, there's guys along
26:24the baseline to get behind
26:25that last line of defense.
26:26You're going to get
26:27something easy.
26:28Richard took his eye off
26:29it.
26:30And that's now the six
26:32turnover for Golden State.
26:34Marcus Smart back in.
26:36Kennard sits down.
26:37Not as feet wet as a
26:38Laker.
26:38And the Lakers are
26:40running more and more of
26:41that matchup zone where
26:42they're just kind of passing
26:43guys through and then
26:44they're shifting positions,
26:46mainly keeping Vanderbilt at
26:47the top to keep pressure at
26:49the top of the zone.
26:52Cleaver sets the screen.
26:54Will Richard picks up
26:55James.
26:57James against the rookie.
26:59Throws on the corner.
27:00Vanderbilt fakes.
27:01Vanderbilt drives.
27:02And the finish.
27:04Garrett Vanderbilt with
27:05authority.
27:06Well, they're small out
27:07there.
27:07And Post was the one
27:08that contested that
27:09three-point shot.
27:10So after the ball fake,
27:11there's nothing on the
27:12backside but guards.
27:14Vanderbilt took it all the
27:15way to the rim.
27:15I was just about to say,
27:16what is Post doing going
27:18for a pump fake for
27:19Vanderbilt?
27:19And then I see Draymond
27:20coming to the scorer's
27:21table.
27:22As Peyton lays it up and
27:23in.
27:24Harry Peyton now with
27:25nine points.
27:26That's the third or
27:27fourth time that they've
27:29had a back cut because of
27:30the way the Lakers are so
27:32concerned about the
27:33number of three-point
27:34shooters on the floor.
27:35There are opportunities to
27:37be had when defenders turn
27:39their heads.
27:40Both teams playing a ton of
27:42zone here on the first half.
27:43James turns around,
27:44double-team,
27:45bangs it in,
27:45and a foul.
27:48Leap back up to three.
27:50LeBron James with his
27:51second field goal.
27:52And again,
27:56LeBron taking his time
27:57against the smaller
27:58defender.
27:58Post comes over.
28:00That's the same kind of
28:01contest.
28:01You've got to allow him to
28:02touch.
28:03But again,
28:03that's the difference.
28:04When LeBron plays in that
28:05post,
28:06he can pass,
28:07he can score,
28:07he can create.
28:08It causes so many problems
28:10for the defense.
28:11You see always big numbers
28:13against Golden State.
28:15McCurry,
28:16LeBron James,
28:17this is always that rivalry.
28:18So many big games,
28:19Cavs,
28:19Warriors,
28:20in the finals,
28:20of course.
28:21But the respect those two
28:23have for each other
28:24to try out-duel each other.
28:25Obviously,
28:26Curry not playing here
28:27tonight.
28:27Yeah,
28:27but there was no greater
28:28moment in their rivalry
28:29than when they joined forces
28:31in that Olympics.
28:31That was a special,
28:33special moment.
28:34Absolutely.
28:35As we have a held ball.
28:36And again,
28:42taking his time.
28:43Melton all felt like
28:44he almost got the ball,
28:45but that was the problem.
28:46If you don't get that steal,
28:48your backside of your defense
28:50is dead.
28:53Melton
28:53and Laravia
28:54to jump it up.
29:03Good job by Melton.
29:05Excellent anticipation
29:06to win it.
29:07Draymond Green.
29:09Bottom of the backboard
29:10blocked it.
29:11Green thought he got fouled.
29:13Yells at Nate Green.
29:14Well,
29:14is there,
29:15did you guys have a trick
29:16on jump balls?
29:17Is there a strategy ever?
29:19Yeah,
29:19be more athletic
29:20than everyone else.
29:21That was typically
29:21what I said.
29:22Jump ball in the final four.
29:24That's what I decided.
29:25Just be more athletic
29:26and jump first.
29:27That had to totally help.
29:28Few legs.
29:29Time it up.
29:30Time it up
29:31and cheat.
29:32And cheat as much
29:33as you can.
29:34Grab on.
29:35Use your off arm.
29:37Yeah.
29:37Take the foul
29:38if they call it whatever.
29:39Legs, I'm sorry
29:40I asked him that question.
29:41I know.
29:42I'm sorry you asked him
29:43that question too.
29:44Melted.
29:45Can we get back
29:46to the three-point shooting
29:47again of Luke Kennard?
29:48Ice feet inside.
29:50Peyton misses that one.
29:51Vanderbilt defended it well.
29:53The Lakers look to push.
29:54James walks into a three.
29:56Can't get it to fall.
29:57Ball kept alive.
29:58A race for it.
30:00As Arabia goes crashing
30:01into the first row.
30:04Checks to make sure
30:05everybody's okay.
30:06I just don't understand.
30:09I want to make sure
30:10people know this.
30:11When players are doing that
30:13and trying to dive.
30:14God, we look good.
30:15When players are diving
30:16and trying to do it,
30:17they don't care about
30:18anybody in the stands.
30:19Their job is to protect
30:20themselves.
30:22And so that's what makes
30:22it being up close
30:23so much fun if you're a fan.
30:25James kicks it out.
30:26Vanderbilt fakes.
30:27Drives.
30:29Smart fakes a three.
30:30Gets to the foul line.
30:31Jumper off the mark.
30:32Here comes Spencer.
30:34By the way,
30:35you notice you're on camera
30:36quicker than anyone
30:37I've ever worked with.
30:38Yeah, I had no idea.
30:39Like, immediately
30:41Richard goes into his TV
30:42smile.
30:43It's called a stage presence.
30:44It's called having a stage
30:45presence.
30:45That's odd.
30:46How about Spencer?
30:47With the defense,
30:49Vanderbilt was wide open
30:50underneath the hoop
30:51and Spencer the anticipation.
30:59Four minutes gone by here
31:01in the second.
31:01A four-point Laker lead.
31:03A low-scoring, poor shooting
31:06game, especially from three.
31:09Spencer knocks that one down.
31:11Does it at both ends?
31:11His second field goal.
31:13And it's not like he's got
31:15electric quickness or handle,
31:16but it's good enough.
31:17And he knows if he's got a
31:19center on him like Hayes,
31:20he just has to change
31:21directions one time.
31:22He's going to stop before
31:23Hayes does.
31:24Good defense down low.
31:26There comes Melton.
31:27Anthony Melton dealt with
31:32left knee injury,
31:33had surgery,
31:34back healthy though.
31:35He's always been a good
31:36two-way player.
31:38Second year with Golden State.
31:40Boravia goes back door,
31:44keeps that dribble alive,
31:46and a travel call.
31:51Santos, Horford back in.
31:54And here's what I'm talking
31:55about right here.
31:56Lakers trying to push
31:57that ball ahead.
31:58They always have someone
31:59trying to get ahead of the
32:01defense.
32:01Great hands there to get
32:02the deflection.
32:03This is what I'm talking
32:03about.
32:04When you have a center on
32:05you, and you just change
32:06direction once, you know,
32:07Jackson Hayes is doing
32:08everything he can to try to
32:09get back and protect the
32:11rim, his natural inclination.
32:13So if you stop, you've got
32:14a little pull-up.
32:14Well, Spencer signed a
32:16standard NBA contract the
32:17day after playing one of his
32:18best games at a career-high
32:1920 Thursday.
32:21He's one of the most
32:22remarkable stories in the
32:23league.
32:24College at Loyola,
32:24Maryland, played lacrosse,
32:26became one of the great
32:26lacrosse players in the
32:28country, one of the best
32:29all-time, but then spent
32:31his final year at
32:32Northwestern playing
32:33College Basketball,
32:34misses that, bounced around
32:35in the G League early, but
32:37his first love has always
32:39been basketball, and he has
32:41become an integral part of
32:42this team, smart fouled by
32:44Spencer.
32:47But he went to lacrosse
32:49early because he was 5'4",
32:51120 pounds.
32:53He didn't think his future
32:53was in basketball.
32:55Boy, it could have been in
32:57lacrosse.
32:58He had all of the ability,
33:00and this is the thing I
33:01love.
33:01So many parents are
33:02specializing their kids in
33:03sports.
33:04You can have variety in what
33:06your children play.
33:07It's actually recommended by
33:09all of the top athletes.
33:11Have your kids play multiple
33:12sports.
33:12He is a prime example of
33:14your body can develop, you
33:16can change sports, but it's
33:17also the skill and toughness
33:18you learn from different
33:19sports translate.
33:20And his brother Cam is
33:21doing really good things for
33:23Memphis as well.
33:25He thinks he's as good as
33:26anybody on the floor when he
33:28steps on the course.
33:28Well, we talked about his
33:29journey.
33:30You know, how did you know
33:31or when did you know you're
33:32going to get to the league?
33:32Did you ever doubt it when
33:34you were in the G League or
33:35when you were going down the
33:36lacrosse path?
33:36He said, never.
33:38I never doubted.
33:38I knew it would turn out
33:39exactly this way.
33:40And Steve Kerr loves him.
33:42His teammates love him.
33:43Right now, Golden State
33:44Warriors fans love him.
33:45Still a two-point lead for the
33:47Lakers.
33:47Well, we talked about the
33:51ball watching that can happen
33:52when teams shoot a lot of
33:53threes when you clear out
33:55right here and now you're
33:56going to get dribble
33:57penetration.
33:58Take a look right here at
33:59LeBron James.
33:59He's just watching the
34:01basketball.
34:02Gary Payton is going to take
34:03advantage of that right
34:04behind it for the back cut.
34:08Yeah, he was laying it up
34:09before LeBron knew where he
34:10was.
34:11It's like somebody's get that
34:12guy.
34:13That's your guy.
34:15Smart throws across court.
34:16Canard.
34:17Blocked by Horford.
34:2039-year-old Al Horford
34:21rejects it into the third
34:23row.
34:24Why'd you have to throw his
34:25age in there, Mike?
34:27Look at how he's leaping at
34:28his age.
34:29And that's pretty impressive.
34:30I'm not going to lie.
34:31I don't think that might be
34:31the highest Al Horford's
34:32gotten since he was in
34:33Atlanta.
34:34You can't time that jump
34:35any better if you're Al
34:36Horford.
34:37He was all in and committed
34:38to blocking that three-point
34:40shot knowing that's Luke
34:41Canard with a quick trigger.
34:43Would he have jumped that
34:44high if it was you?
34:45He wouldn't have had to
34:46probably jump as high as
34:47that.
34:47I would have got it off
34:48maybe a little quicker.
34:49That was a great play
34:50coming from the weak side
34:52on that.
34:52Foul on Santos.
34:53LaRabia fell out of bounds.
34:55Santos with a bump.
34:57And Santos has four
34:58fouls in seven minutes.
34:59as Moody gets off the bench.
35:11By the way, the fastest
35:12disqualification in NBA
35:15history was six minutes.
35:17Bubba Wells was the one.
35:18That was a hack-up player
35:21situation.
35:23Santos has committed 40% of the
35:25fouls in this game.
35:26There hasn't been a lot of
35:28wisdom.
35:28Is that Wharton Business School
35:30right in math right there?
35:31I mean, you know, it wasn't that
35:33hard.
35:34How about Moody on that pass?
35:36LaRabia, good defense.
35:43Horford, though, able to save
35:44it.
35:46Spencer goes right at Jackson
35:47Hayes.
35:49Trying to find some room.
35:51Excellent defense that time
35:52from Hayes.
35:54Here comes LaRabia,
35:55sidestep.
35:56The floater won't go.
35:59Spencer with his fourth
36:00rebound.
36:01Two-point Laker lead.
36:02And a very low score in
36:04first half.
36:06Spencer, corner three.
36:08Got it.
36:10That's the third three-pointer
36:12for the Golden State Warriors.
36:15Spencer shooting 43% on the
36:17season.
36:18Steph has stood up more than
36:19Steve Kerr in this game.
36:20He has not set down.
36:23Hachimura, nice move, and
36:24the finish.
36:26Rui Hachimura off the
36:28bounce.
36:28Lakers back up by one.
36:30And you wonder, you know,
36:30how is Golden State right now
36:32in this situation shooting
36:34three for 20 from the three?
36:35They've got eight more shots
36:36because of the offensive
36:38rebounding, and they have
36:39less turnovers.
36:40Three fewer turnovers than
36:41the Lakers.
36:42That's really what this has
36:43been about.
36:44FGA, field goal attempts,
36:46that's a big number for Steve
36:47Kerr and the Warriors.
36:49Hachimura couldn't control it,
36:51went out of bounds.
36:52Hayes sits down.
36:53I see Kleber comes back in.
36:54Traymond Green.
37:01Moody, three-pointer won't go.
37:06A little difference in shot
37:08selection between these two
37:09teams.
37:1022 of the 37 from three for
37:12Golden State.
37:1411 of 27 from three for the
37:17Lakers.
37:17LaRavia tried to get her to
37:20cleave up.
37:21LaRavia mad at himself.
37:22That's 11 turnovers for the
37:24Lakers.
37:26JJ is getting redder and
37:28redder with every single
37:29turnover.
37:32LaRavia is 19th in the league
37:33in turnovers.
37:36Moody, good open.
37:38Look, that one goes down.
37:40And look, it lets Luke
37:41Cunard on that wing, so who
37:42knows, you know, in terms of
37:43the communication when they're
37:45in that zone, but they're going
37:46to a zone, and that's just one
37:48pass to the wing for a wide
37:49open three-point shot.
37:51Cannot happen.
37:52Hachimura launches that
37:54three-pointer.
37:55Rui Hachimura, first player
37:57in double figures with ten on
37:58his second three.
38:01Hachimura in the top ten in
38:02three-point percentage as
38:03Pajemski answers right back.
38:05The Warriors hit two threes in
38:07a row.
38:07Yeah, and they're all off one
38:09pass and shot.
38:10Obviously, the zone, they're not
38:12communicating great.
38:13They're a step late on that
38:14zone, and you do not want to
38:15give up open shots.
38:16Oh, what a move from Austin
38:18Reeves.
38:20Reeves with his first points.
38:22Pajemski races down the floor.
38:24Rebounds his own miss.
38:25Barford, quick release.
38:27Can't get it to fall.
38:30Ball deflected.
38:31Spencer picks it up.
38:35Pajemski down a lane.
38:37The floater's up and good.
38:39Nine points and ten minutes off
38:40the bench for Pajemski.
38:42This is LA Fitness level of quick
38:44shooting, and percentage-wise.
38:48Hachimura wants to post up.
38:49Spencer looking to help.
38:51Raymond Green comes to help.
38:55Reeves fouled.
38:57Spencer does not like the call.
38:59It's before any shot attempt.
39:01First foul on Spencer.
39:02Watch Austin Reeves with the
39:05Hezzy, the crossback, and believed
39:08he got fouled.
39:09Headbend came off.
39:11But it's, again, his handle is,
39:13in my opinion, yes, his jump shot
39:15is improved, but his handle and his
39:16ability to navigate tight spaces in
39:19pick-and-roll, in traffic, that's
39:21what makes him a difference-maker.
39:22Well, his emergence as an elite
39:24scorer, he does it again, it's also
39:27become one of the great stories
39:28this year.
39:29Cleaver line drive, can't get it
39:30to fall, and Horford lets it go
39:32out of bounds.
39:34Let's go to Lisa.
39:35Yeah, Mike, I was talking to
39:36Austin Reeves before the game.
39:37He said he was miserable missing
39:39those 19 games, but that he feels
39:41100% healthy now.
39:42Still on a minute's restriction,
39:43like he said, which as a
39:45competitor he says he hates, but
39:46he says he also understands the
39:48signs behind it.
39:49Right now, they want to keep him
39:50around 24 minutes.
39:51Once they get it up to 28, then
39:53J.J. Reddick said Reeves would be
39:55able to get back in the starting
39:56lineup, but again, Reeves said he
39:58doesn't like it, especially when
39:59he's having a game like he did the
40:01other night, when he scored 35
40:02points in 25 minutes.
40:04He said, when you're rolling like
40:05that, you definitely do not want to
40:07be on a minute's restriction, but he
40:08said he tried not to complain too
40:10much.
40:11And he's measurable about that foul
40:12call as Green goes to the line.
40:13By the way, he set a record for
40:16fewest minutes played in a game by a
40:18Laker, scoring 35 points or more.
40:20You think of all the players who
40:22played for the Lakers, the
40:23outstanding scores.
40:24That's an amazing record.
40:26That is an amazing record.
40:27But let me quote Adam Silver.
40:29The data does not back up what the
40:31sports and science always says.
40:33The data does not back that up.
40:35That means that there are, when we
40:37were talking about load management,
40:39when we were talking about all these
40:40different things, the data sometimes,
40:42I think the sports science, there is
40:44some stock in that, but I think it's
40:46weighed way too heavily.
40:48I've seen guys come back from a thumb
40:50injury and on a minute restriction.
40:52That doesn't make any sense to me.
40:54If you're legs, if you're something
40:55soft tissue, I'm okay with that.
40:57But a finger, a thumb, and you've
40:59missed two weeks, and now you're on a
41:01minute restriction for a week?
41:02That doesn't make any sense.
41:04Well, the left calf, the calf injury
41:06is an injury everybody's praise doesn't
41:10happen.
41:11He had a long time as he was, as
41:12Lisa said, just five and a half weeks.
41:15Reeves misses that, Pajemski throws it
41:17back out, offensive foul.
41:19And there is a Kleber intangible play.
41:22Did a bunch of those the other night.
41:23Draws the charge, and Pajemski
41:25shaking up.
41:26They'll take a timeout.
41:28Warriors with a three-point lead.
41:31NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC is
41:34presented by Wingstop.

41:41Welcome back.
41:42NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC
41:44presented by Wingstop.
41:45Steve Kerr challenged this offensive
41:47foul call, and he won.
41:49Well, first he got hit in the head
41:50from James, and then Kleber clearly
41:52doesn't have position.
41:53They called it an offensive foul.
41:55Instead, it's a foul on Kleber.
41:58And those are tough.
41:59Those are tough.
42:00Because those are judgment calls,
42:01right?
42:01And then you see them.
42:03In real time, it looks a lot closer
42:05than what that is when we're able to
42:07slow it down.
42:08Certainly the right call, though.
42:09Kinnard guarding Pajemski.
42:12A couple of lefties.
42:14Moody catches, fires, can't hit.
42:17Kinnard, the rebound.
42:21Here's Reeves.
42:22Reeves just two points, one of five
42:24in ten minutes.
42:26Moore's own defense from Golden State.
42:29James, baseline jumper, can't get it.
42:31Kleber, the rebound.
42:33Nearly taken away, and is taken away.
42:36First Peyton, then Moody.
42:37Pajemski.
42:40Horford thought, he thought
42:41Peyton was going to be in the corner.
42:43He did, because that's how they're
42:44running their breaks now.
42:45People are flaring out to the three-point line.
42:48So, when that ball was passed to Horford,
42:49he initially thought that wing
42:51was going to stop in the corner.
42:53How dare you not run to the corner?
42:54Yeah, what are you doing?
42:55Coming out, two minutes remaining.
42:59This is the second quarter score.
43:01You're not misreading that.
43:0339-36 in the second quarter.
43:05Kleber, a beautiful pass from Reeves.
43:08Maxi Kleber once again having an impact off the bench.
43:11And this is the best he's looked physically, Kleber.
43:15Last game, he had a couple plays like that.
43:17And he did a lot of that back in Dallas,
43:19but he's had so many injuries,
43:20you don't see him play with athleticism very often anymore.
43:24It's starting to come back for him.
43:26He came over in the Doncic trade
43:27a little over a year ago.
43:30Passing side.
43:31Horford taken away.
43:32Reeves and Smart on the double team.
43:35Another turnover.
43:35Connart drives right-handed.
43:39The offhand backs it home.
43:41Connart with his second field goal.
43:45Already had 13 lead changes in this one.
43:48And Moody is fouled.
43:56Again, offense turning into defense.
44:00Our defense, excuse me, turning into offense.
44:02But Austin Reeves taking his time,
44:04spreading the ball.
44:05And look, the gravity that Connart is going to create.
44:09That you have to close out to him so hard in that corner
44:12that that drive is easy.
44:13You saw Al Horford took off from inside the paint
44:16to try and contest one of his threes.
44:18Well, it's time for tonight's DraftKings Sportsbook.
44:21Player Pulse.
44:26Draymond and LeBron James spotlighted tonight.
44:29DraftKings is the number one sportsbook for live betting.
44:31Use promo code SPLASH when you sign up.
44:35Slow starts for both NBA champions.
44:39Draymond Green and LeBron James.
44:41115 remaining.
44:43All tied at 40 here in the second quarter.
44:47Reeves got it by Payton.
44:48It's a man-to-man defense.
44:53Payton is an excellent on-ball defender.
44:55And a whistle and a foul.
44:58And then free throws for Austin Reeves.
45:00It's tough.
45:01I mean, it's so difficult to guard him off the dribble without fouling him
45:04because he hits you with so many starts and stops and changes directions
45:08on the same play.
45:09Even if you do a great job initially,
45:11he is eventually going to find a way to get contact on you.
45:15This is what I'm talking about.
45:16So, good job.
45:17You even got Moody coming up there, giving him help.
45:19But that quick spin into a crossover,
45:22that is so difficult to then react a second time as a defender.
45:26You know, J.J. Redick was talking before the game about what's it like to be a Laker.
45:29He says the reaction of the fan base is like no other place he's ever been.
45:34And it's difficult to kind of avoid social media and all the rumors that go on.
45:39And then he asked about Austin Reeves.
45:40He goes, I'm not sure he even has a phone.
45:42And if it is, it's a flip phone.
45:44And he's smart.
45:45That's the thing about playing in the big market.
45:46There's a lot of positives,
45:47but there's also some negatives and some weight that comes with playing in a large,
45:51historic franchise.
45:53Well, the Lakers spotlight really is like none other.
45:56Spencer falling away.
45:57Shot short.
45:58Reeves the rebound.
45:59James against Draymond Green.
46:05Longtime foes.
46:06James comes up short.
46:07Pajemski grabs it.
46:09Looks to push.
46:11Lakers get back.
46:15Expensive.
46:23There's Pajemski.
46:24Six on the 24.
46:26Step back.
46:26A contested three.
46:27That's short.
46:28Rebound deflected out of bounds.
46:30And now the Warriors can hold it for the final shot.
46:40Substitution.
46:40Horford will come in.
46:41Payton will sit.
46:46No fouls to give here for the Lakers.
46:50Spencer will inbound.
46:51Only two players in double figures in this low score in first half.
46:59Ten for Moody.
47:00Ten for Hachimura.
47:01Five seconds.
47:02Spencer looks up.
47:03Guarded by James.
47:04Spencer drives.
47:05Floating.
47:05Puts it up.
47:06Shots good.
47:07At the buzzer.
47:08Pat Spencer with a difficult shot over LeBron James.
47:12And Golden State will head to the locker room with a one-point lead.
47:17Despite shooting five of 27 from three.
47:21And Spencer with nine points here in the first half.
47:25A former lacrosse great.
47:31A nice-looking bucket.
47:33Steph Curry sitting out his third straight game.
47:36Likes what he sees.
47:37Coming up, we have halftime.
47:39Presented by Tremb Faya.
47:41Two quarters complete.
47:43Halftime in L.A.
47:44One-point lead for the Warriors.
47:45Presentation of NBA Saturday Primetime continues after this message.
47:49And a word from our ABC stations.
47:52Can you screw it up?
47:53Hey.
47:53Look at them legs.
47:54Let's go.
47:54Let's go.
47:55There it goes.
47:56We said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
47:59Look at that.
48:00Look at that.
48:01We all say it's right now.
48:03And so here inside Studio J, if it's going to happen tonight, we are ready.
48:08I got on, see, I got on shoes tonight.
48:11I got on slippers.
48:12He got on, he got on Jordans.
48:13That's not a fair race.
48:15He's got on Jordans.
48:16You always got an excuse.
48:17He got on Jordans.
48:18I got on shoes tonight.
48:19But you know you're going to, you know you're going to have halftime highlights.
48:23You know you're going to have a break.
48:24But I didn't think Chris Webber was going to be here.
48:26I thought Charles was working.
48:28The guy said he went to work.
48:30Sometimes things don't look good and people are going to hate, but you got to keep your
48:34mind straight and run through the tape.
48:40I know that.
48:41By the way, it was a false.
48:43I was still standing at the starting line.
48:53I got a bronze medal.
48:55That was so funny, Shaq.
48:56You put your hamstring knowing you stopped.
48:58You got that hat on.
49:01That was great.
49:02That's a lot of time I ran, too.
49:04That might have been the last time I went full speed.
49:08Full speed.
49:08So what you got here from the first half?
49:11Well, you know, there was a no, no, it was a great.
49:13No, we're not doing that.
49:14There's no tape, right?
49:15They got the tape.
49:16Run through the tape!
49:16Oh, I got him again!
49:20I got him again!
49:21I got him again!
49:26You got him again!

53:13Damn.
53:15Oh.
53:17He's so happy that I lost.
53:21Championship.
53:23We're back, Detroit.
53:25We did it.
53:27It's presented by Trimfaya.
53:29Run through.
53:31Run through.
53:33Keep it going, baby.
53:35Look at that start.
53:37We might not be fast, but we're in shape, though.
53:39We're in shape to lead the run.
53:41Saturday night in the Los Angeles area,
53:43including Santa Monica.
53:45Halftime.
53:47One-point lead for the Warriors over the Lakers.
53:49First-half stats brought to you by Ford.
53:5337% shooting for Golden State.
53:555 of 27 from 3 and 9 turnovers in a low storm.
54:01Time's ugly game, but they have a one-point lead.
54:04That might go away soon because Draymond Green, after the buzzer at halftime, went over to argue with the officials.
54:10Had a couple of choice words and proceeded to pick up technical number 11 on the season.
54:18So we'll shoot that technical before we get started in the third.
54:20Hi again, everyone.
54:22With Richard Jefferson and Tim Legler, Mike Green on hand.
54:24We'll check in with Lisa in a moment.
54:26So I rattled off the numbers offensively for Golden State, yet they lead.
54:30How do they do that?
54:31It's simple.
54:32They've taken 11 more shots, so they've had fewer turnovers.
54:34But for me, really, the big story is the fact that the Lakers only have two offensive rebounds in this game,
54:38despite the fact that the Warriors are playing a smaller lineup.
54:41They compete on every possession, and they're putting on a clinic with their boxing out,
54:45and the Lakers are getting nothing more than their initial shot.
54:48The one-shot technical goes down.
54:50What do the Lakers need to do differently here in the second half, Richard?
54:53To me, it's just take care of the ball.
54:55They've got 15 field goals on 14 assists.
54:58That means they're moving the ball.
54:59They're shooting the ball well when they're passing it.
55:01But they have 13 turnovers.
55:03You've got 15 field goals and 13 turnovers.
55:06That's not a great formula.
55:07The fact that they're—it's a tie game now, but the fact that they're only down one is a—it's surprising to me.
55:15Meanwhile, Reeves hit the technical and then goes to the bench,
55:18because he's coming off the bench since he's returned from injuries.
55:21As James knocks down the three, we check in with Lisa's office.
55:24Yeah, Mike, well, J.J. Redick described this game as a defensive affair
55:28as he was walking out of the locker room, and then he kind of just chuckled.
55:31But he said, we've got to do what Richard just said.
55:33He said, we've got to do a better job of taking care of the basketball.
55:36And also, he said, we've got to do a better job of converting transition opportunities.
55:40He said those are the two biggest things for the second half.
55:43All right, Lee's Marcus Smart, former Defensive Player of the Year, with the steal.
55:47James down the other end.
55:49Matt Spencer not happy with a call.
55:51Well, LeBron James already five points in the first minute of the third.
55:55Yeah, well, LeBron James knew that he had this side of the floor to himself with one shooter in the strong corner,
56:01and he's just too big right there.
56:03He's got a spin-off, and he gets leverage like that.
56:06You're at his mercy.
56:07Second foul on Spencer.
56:09Seven points in 36 seconds after we had such a slow offensive first half.
56:19Santos starting in second half.
56:21He had four fouls in that first half.
56:24Green to Melton.
56:26Anthony Melton kicks it back out.
56:29Draymond Green passes up to three.
56:31Speed inside.
56:32Santos lays it up and in.
56:33The extra pass from Draymond Green.
56:35And once again, the weak side cut.
56:37They either expected Lakers, Draymond to take the three, or drive and finish that.
56:41Santos with a late cut into the lane.
56:45Beautiful vision by Draymond.
56:47Green almost breaks it up.
56:48Knocks down Hayes.
56:50Lakers upset though.
56:52There should have been a foul on Draymond Green.
56:55And you see the Lakers are going to freeze when this ball swings to Draymond.
56:58They think he's going to shoot it.
56:59They don't mind if he takes that shot.
57:01And now you can see the late reaction.
57:03But you've got four sets of eyes staring at the ball.
57:06And there's an opportunity for Santos to get in there.
57:08Hayes gets his second field goal.
57:10Jackson Hayes starting tonight.
57:11DeAndre Ayton moves a late scratch with some knee issues.
57:15Nothing serious.
57:17Nice back work.
57:18Cut.
57:19And James with a steal.
57:20Good anticipation defensively.
57:22Dribbles down a lane.
57:23Draws the foul.
57:24Count it.
57:25And one.
57:26LeBron James has exploded out here in the third quarter.
57:29And the Lakers have their largest lead of the game.
57:33And again, this was coming off a steal from one of those back cuts.
57:38LeBron James comes in and gets that steal.
57:41Goes down.
57:42Gets it.
57:43And one.
57:44Using that strong body.
57:46We've seen it for 25 straight years.
57:49Getting the and one.
57:51All-Star 2026 takes over right here in Los Angeles.
58:04February 12th through the 15th.
58:06With big game, star power, fan events all weekend long.
58:09Don't miss your chance to be there.
58:10Get your tickets now at NBAevents.com slash All-Star.
58:15Well, LeBron James in the first half had seven points in 16 and a half minutes.
58:20He has eight points in 95 seconds.
58:24Making nine points already.
58:26And the Lakers with a nine-point advantage.
58:30More zone defense from the Lakers.
58:35If you're just tuning in, both teams played a ton of zone D.
58:40Green looking.
58:41Shot clock at seven.
58:43Pat Spencer on the bounce.
58:45Kicks it out.
58:46Green.
58:47Right corner.
58:48Three-pointers good.
58:49Right on Green with his first field goal.
58:52He's got five assists and a bunch of rebounds.
58:54And a lead back to six for the Lakers.
59:01Game started by Moody.
59:03Offensive foul.
59:04Santos took a shot.
59:06Nice work here by Draymond.
59:09Just sets the screen.
59:10Slips out.
59:11He knows this is late clock.
59:12Sometimes you're better off when you know you have to shoot it.
59:16Draymond Green didn't have any time on the clock.
59:18And he's got some pleasantries for LeBron on the way back.
59:23LaRavia picked up that foul.
59:25Melting up top.
59:29Green searching.
59:30Nice feet down low.
59:31Santos free.
59:32And bounces at home.
59:33Santos with his second field goal.
59:35Now the zone is dangerous against the Golden State Warriors
59:37because of how much they cut.
59:39They're trained to cut.
59:40So that back up.
59:41You're guarding an area.
59:42You're not guarding a man.
59:43So when you're guarding an area, you're looking at everything.
59:46And that's why they keep slipping back doors so easily.
59:49Marcus Smart lines it up.
59:50Long rebound.
59:51Spencer.
59:52A great hustle from Hayes.
59:54And LaRavia comes up with it.
59:56Jackson Hayes getting his sixth start.
