It’s probably safe to say that if you've been to one of the many annual art fairs held each summer in the Twin Cities, you’ve seen collage artist Kristi Abbott and her equally colorful work. She explains to WCCO's Laura Oakes a new project she's taking on featuring the members of Metallica.

00:00So right now I am working on a four foot by four foot Metallica commission for a client.
00:06So it's going to be all four band members, four foot by four foot.
00:11And what we're hiding in amongst it is all information about the band, their songs.
00:18And then the client has actually sent me personal imagery and photos from concerts that they've attended.
00:25And that will all be woven into the piece.
00:28So that's what I'm going to be working on this winter.
00:31So that's super fun.
00:32And then behind you, you'll see these are a lot of my papers.
00:38So these are all my scrap bins of different colors.
00:42I hate throwing anything out.
00:44And sometimes I will just need like the tiniest little bit of a silver.
00:49So I keep everything.
00:50And then down here are my discontinued wallpapers that I used in my discontinued series,
00:56but often will incorporate within a piece for that real high level texture.
01:01And these are.
01:03Okay.
