00:00Do you think the U.S. wants a deal at the end of the day with this leadership in Tehran?
00:05Because wouldn't that legitimize the leadership in Tehran and pretty much ensure that they
00:11carried on being the leaders of that country?
00:16Well, you say the U.S., but of course, it's not the U.S. It's Trump. This is all about Donald
00:21Trump. He's the one who makes the decisions. He doesn't have any advisors who really give him
00:27much in the way of advice. He makes the decisions on a day-to-day basis. And for Trump, he is looking
00:33for things that he can portray as wins in the United States at a time when he and his people
00:41and his supporters are doing very poorly politically. They're facing a possible major loss in elections
00:48later this year. So Trump is looking for something that's a win. If the Iranians agree an agreement
00:55on nuclear issues can be sold as a win, he'll take that. Or just doing some more bombing,
01:01which is something he likes to do, and declaring victory is also a possibility. But it really
01:07depends upon what Trump thinks will play well with his constituency back home in the U.S.
01:12That's who he's playing for. It's not really about what's going on in Iran. It's about what's going
01:19going on in the U.S.
