00:45Well, the Belt and Road Initiative, by all accounts, has been a big success, you know, been going
00:51on for about a decade.
00:52China has really leveraged it to extend its reach far beyond China, across Central Asia,
00:59across Eurasia, into the Middle East, as you say, Africa, and even Latin America.
01:05And so that has created, you know, infrastructure partnerships, scientific partnerships, business
01:12partnerships, investment partnerships.
01:14Sierra Leone serves as a prime example of this impact.
01:18The initiative has empowered the Western African nation not only through the physical infrastructure,
01:24but also through the development of its human capital.
01:29One of the things that I love about the Belt and Road Initiative and bilateral relationship
01:35between China and Sierra Leone is human capital development.
01:39We have lots of Sierra Leoneans who go to China to study long-term courses, short-term courses.
01:46We have several Chinese citizens who come to Sierra Leone in private sector, in public sector
01:52as well, and engage.
01:53That level of interaction, people to people, human to human, at the university level, at
01:58the institute level, will only be critical for the future.
02:03Building on the theme of human capital, Professor Nancy Yip, President of the Hong Kong University
02:08of Science and Technology, believes the BRI provides a unique framework for educational
02:13and technological advancement.
02:18In terms of education, we are working together to cultivate talent, and I believe the Belt and
02:23Road Initiative serves as an excellent bridge for this.
02:27Given Hong Kong's unique advantages, we are perfectly positioned as a super connector.
02:32From scientific collaboration to technology transfer, this initiative acts as a vital bridge
02:37for transforming our research and development into real-world applications.
