ANIMAL VALENTINE’S DAY AROUND THE WORLD
WITH PIX AND VID
By Shuk Yee Tsang
A heartwarming collection of images and videos captures tender animal moments from across the globe, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The images were taken by wildlife photographer Dafna Ben Nun, who has spent nearly two decades documenting animals in their natural environments.
The series features intimate interactions between animal pairs, including zebras, otters, penguins, lions, giraffes, warthogs, owls, elephants, pandas, birds, gazelles, pika, and more.
The footage was captured across a wide range of locations, including Africa, Tanzania, Yellowstone National Park in the USA, Australia, China, Ireland, Antarctica, and other parts of the world.
Each moment appears to echo human affection, from gentle nuzzles to quiet companionship.
Rather than focusing on dramatic or harsh moments in the wild, Dafna seeks out scenes that feel romantic and emotionally warm.
Even simple interactions are framed to highlight connection, bonding, and care.
Her work reflects a long-standing passion for love and intimacy in nature.
Over the years, she has photographed countless animal pairs, though she says she has long since lost count.
For Dafna, these moments are not staged or forced. They are discovered through patience and a constant search for gentle interactions that reveal the softer side of wildlife.
One of her most memorable experiences was photographing emperor penguins in Antarctica, whose behaviour stood out for its tenderness and mutual care.
Dafna said: “Definitely the emperor penguins in Antarctica, they express their love and care to each other beautifully.”
“My point of view as a photographer is always positive and romantic.
"Even if I see a simple interaction between animals, I will always try to get a shot that will look like they are lovers.
“My passion is for romantic and love.
“I’ve been a wildlife photographer for almost 20 years so I’ve lost count.
“Ever since I’ve become a wildlife photographer, I've been searching for these intimate moments.
“I will always choose to photograph a positive situation like couples or mothers with babies rather than an animal hunting for example.”
