Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Congress party and the Gandhi family during his nearly 100-minute speech in the Rajya Sabha. Modi accused the opposition of being “habitual thieves” and even claimed they have “stolen” Mahatma Gandhi’s surname. He also mocked the Congress on its inability to support startup culture and took a sharp dig at Rahul Gandhi by calling him the party’s “Yuvraj” with a “shaatir dimaag.” The prime minister condemned Rahul Gandhi’s “traitor” remark directed at Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, calling it an insult to the Sikh community. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha passed the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address without the prime minister’s reply for the first time since 2004 amid opposition protests.
