00:00The World Government Summit in Dubai is very happy in Dubai.
00:03But what is the truth?
00:05Are you ready for coming tomorrow?
00:07Are you ready for new needs?
00:08How is the world preparing for tomorrow?
00:11This is what you are watching Dubai Loop.
00:14This is a very interesting concept.
00:16And its founder and CEO, Mark Siga, is joining us today.
00:21I know, you are not comfortable with Hindi, right?
00:25Unfortunately, not yet.
00:27But you are travelling to India.
00:29I will be in India next week for a wedding.
00:31Tell us about this Loop thing and why did you think of it?
00:35What is the whole concept?
00:37Is this the future or the present?
00:40Anjana, it started out as the future and now it's the present.
00:43So let me explain what we are trying to do here.
00:45We are solving congestion, number one.
00:47We want cities to have less cars, less traffic, less pollution and a better quality of life.
00:53Number two, we want to provide more people a better quality of life
00:57by providing better access to affordable housing, education, jobs and weddings too.
01:03And the way we do that is to provide better access to mobility.
01:06Now, you know you can go on the roads but roads are terribly congested.
01:09So whether you put a bus on the road, a taxi, an autonomous car, an electric car,
01:13it doesn't do anything to congestion.
01:15So we have had to invent something new.
01:17This is it.
01:18This is it.
01:19Let's walk towards it.
01:20Interesting.
01:21What is this?
01:22And this is the loop on which your vehicle is going to travel?
01:25Many projects.
01:26This is one of many projects in Dubai and around the world too that we are doing.
01:30This is our glide car and it starts there.
01:32How many of these are going to be actually traveling in a city?
01:39Like how many of these?
01:41So depending on the size of the city, you either have hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands.
01:46And the reason why is we are able to use a new kind of AI technology
01:51where to move huge volumes of people like a big city would require,
01:55without needing to build big trains or big buses and huge infrastructure,
02:00we disaggregate the problem where every passenger gets their own vehicle on demand.
02:05Every passenger gets their own vehicle,
02:07or any vehicle that will get a car in the road.
02:10How will the car go?
02:12How will the car go?
02:13Where will the car go?
02:14We will ask.
02:15But let's just walk in and try and see.
02:16Wow.
02:17So this is a personalised car that I am getting.
02:21You get your own vehicle,
02:23no sharing with strangers,
02:25for the same price as a bus or a train.
02:27Isn't that incredible?
02:28With air conditioning,
02:29Wi-Fi,
02:30music,
02:31and all those good things.
02:32Toh is gadi ke bareme aapko thoda bata dette hain.
02:35Isme Wi-Fi bhi milega.
02:37AC hain.
02:38Aapko music bhi isme milega.
02:40Yee private.
02:41Aap book kar sakte hain.
02:42It's almost like a taxi that you book.
02:44You know it's better than a taxi
02:46because there's no congestion.
02:47And that was the last part I was going to tell you.
02:49With our AI technology,
02:50we are able to provide one-stop journeys.
02:53Meaning once you get in the vehicle,
02:55and you hit the go button,
02:56and the doors close,
02:57you stop only once at your destination.
02:59You don't stop for other stops.
03:01How is that possible?
03:02That's the magic of AI.
03:04We treat vehicles the way the internet treats packets of data.
03:07We have a mesh network.
03:08That's our glide way,
03:09our infrastructure,
03:10which is bike lane sized.
03:11It can be on the ground.
03:12It could be above ground.
03:13It can be below ground.
03:14And we orchestrate the vehicles in a very, very careful way.
03:17And that's how we're able to keep costs very, very low
03:20because it's small things
03:21and yet move huge volumes of people
03:23with a great experience.
03:25So,
03:26this sounds really futuristic.
03:28I mean,
03:29I think it's difficult to operate in a country like India.
03:32When you're talking about a country like India,
03:34with roughly 140 CR plus people.
03:37How does this work?
03:39You need tracks for this to run?
03:41Okay?
03:42Three questions.
03:43You need tracks for this to run?
03:44Can they be on ground?
03:46Can they be elevated?
03:48Are you taking off as well?
03:50Because how else can you?
03:51There are so many crossroads, you know?
03:54How do you tackle that?
03:56And what is the guarantee there won't be another one of these?
03:59What are you calling them by the way?
04:00Glide cars.
04:01Glide cars.
04:02What is the guarantee that there won't be a glide car ahead of you?
04:05These are great questions.
04:07So, let's start with the basics.
04:08The track we run on is a dedicated lane the size of a bike lane.
04:12So, two meters wide and that's it.
04:14There's no track.
04:15There's no power.
04:16It's just concrete or pavement.
04:18Your second question.
04:19Two meters wide.
04:20You need a track.
04:21What are the levels of this track that you can?
04:23Because there will be cars on the ground level.
04:25So, what happens?
04:26You reach a crossroad.
04:27Either way.
04:28We go over it or we go under it.
04:30So, we can go on the ground, as you said.
04:32We can go above ground where we're elevated.
04:34We can go below ground.
04:35But, because this is a small vehicle and not a big heavy train,
04:38we can transition as we need to.
04:40So, if we're on the ground to save money,
04:42we can come near an intersection and go over it.
04:44And all of this does the same thing a train would do,
04:47but at a fraction of the cost and, of course, a fraction of the space.
04:50Now, to your last question.
04:52What if I take off in my vehicle and there's another glide car waiting for me?
04:55We orchestrate the entire system as a system.
04:58We don't treat the vehicles individually.
05:00So, we plan your journey with our AI technology such that when the vehicle leaves,
05:06it has a guaranteed parking spot where you want to go.
05:09And we can do this all in real time.
05:11Have you tried this somewhere?
05:14We have.
05:15We're an American company based in San Francisco.
05:17We have offices around the world.
05:19And we're currently deploying not just in the United States,
05:21but around the world, including here in Dubai.
05:24One last question that really comes to my mind is two meters of area you need.
05:32But whatever.
05:33You will need time to build the infrastructure in a country.
05:36How much time roughly?
05:38Like if you have to operate in a 10-kilometer area.
05:43How much time would you need for that to build the path?
05:47We can build in one to two years.
05:49And that's the amazing part.
05:50You know why?
05:51Because it's bike lane infrastructure or pedestrian infrastructure.
05:54It's lightweight.
05:55It's usually prefabricated.
05:56But you know what the best part is?
05:57This is the part that I care about a lot.
05:59Is we use all local suppliers.
06:01We keep the money in the local economy.
06:03We are building the local economy.
06:05Hiring local people for the operations, for the construction.
06:08Where are you manufacturing these glide cars?
06:11These vehicles, I'm very proud to say, are manufactured by Suzuki.
06:15They're our design.
06:17Suzuki builds them.
06:18And Maruti Suzuki is our biggest partner.
06:20And frankly, between you and I, the Indian market is the crown jewel globally.
06:24We are doing a very careful process together with the Suzuki Motor Corporation and Maruti
06:29to get ready for a go-to-market plan in India.
06:32And we're telling you for the first time.
06:33We've been working on this for over a year and a half.
06:36Very soon, you will see a plan from us in conjunction with Suzuki to roll this project out,
06:41these projects out in the country of India.
06:43And we cannot be more excited and proud.
06:45Wow, which city are you starting with?
06:46Because in pollution-ridden Delhi, we would be waiting with the open arms.
06:52We would love to start there.
06:54And luckily, it's not my decision.
06:57But again, two or three questions came out of that in my mind.
07:01Because this is going to be great with the trade deal with the US happening and the European Union.
07:08India is also looking at manufacturing things in a bigger way and not just the services sector.
07:13How do you see that shaping out in the future with your project?
07:18So, like I said, we want to keep the money in the local economy.
07:21That doesn't just mean hiring locals to operate or to build, but it means hiring locals to construct.
07:27So, our vehicles, we want to build in India.
07:29Our infrastructure, we want to build in India, operated by Indians.
07:32We are there as a tool to enable.
07:34We have no intention of expatriating out other vendors that we would bring in.
07:38That's how we think about it.
07:39That's so interesting.
07:40But what about the Hyperloop that we heard about and the Musk project that we talked about?
07:47How does that figure in your project?
07:51Any inspiration, motivation?
07:53Just what not to do.
07:55I'm going to leave it there.
07:59I'm going to leave it there, yeah.
08:02I'm going to leave it there.
08:03So, if India decides today that we want to go this way, that we want to go the loop way,
08:08the glide car way, the glide ways, right?
08:12How many years?
08:13Two years.
08:14Angela, I think we can be operating within the next 18 to 24 months.
08:18Maybe a bit faster.
08:20Wow.
08:21Yeah.
08:22And is something on the cards?
08:25Like, have you got something definitive there?
08:27Or are you waiting for final projects?
08:30I can't wait to announce this.
08:32As you know, today was a huge announcement for us.
08:34So, let's stay in touch when we're ready to make our next announcements.
08:36Plural, not one.
08:37Oh, wow.
08:38That's great.
08:39So, I'll be in touch with you.
08:40Thank you, Mark, so much.
08:44Yeah, thank you.
08:45Because this is going to reach the Indian audience through our millions and millions of viewers
08:49who are going to understand this whole concept.
08:51It's 2 meters.
08:52It's 2 meters.
08:53Let's see this place.
08:54This place is called Glidecast.
08:55It's just 2 meters.
08:57It's just 2 meters.
08:58It's the place of the cycle track.
08:59You need to find the land on the cycle track.
09:00It's a private car.
09:02It's a private car.
09:03It's a private car.
09:04It's a private car.
09:05It's a Wi-Fi, music, everything.
09:06You can book it.
09:07You can book it.
09:08And Mark, the CEO and the founder, you can book it.
09:11You can book it.
09:12You can book it.
09:13You can book it.
09:14You can book it.
09:15You can book it.
09:16You can go to the new Delhi to the local car.
09:18You can go to the local car.
09:19Which place you have to be left.
09:20This car will be left at your final destination.
09:25And they say that in 1-2 years, there will be a good announcement in the country.
09:30This car.
