00:00and i remember thinking like am i dead like that was the first thing that went to my head for real
00:05i was like am i dead or am i dying all right filming filming i can't see ourselves because
00:13we're filming on the back of savannah's phone really impromptu youtube video especially for
00:18us not posting youtube videos now i know but um i felt like this was something kind of crazy that
00:26we needed to share about because it was just the weirdest freak accident that's ever happened to
00:33me at least yeah well and we're both but especially you are like so bad about posting on social media
00:38i shared about it on my instagram story and i was just blown away by the response um from people
00:45and friends just like concerned and like wanting to like hear more of the story and like um so it was
00:50almost too much like to post in instagram stories and stuff and like too time consuming so it just
00:54felt easier just like set the camera up we're in california right now because nashville got frozen
00:59over our house was like without power for seven days um and literally like zero degree weather it
01:05was just a nightmare for everyone living in nashville yeah so fortunately we had a friend in california who
01:10let us see at their house um so that's where we've been and obviously we're here with our five kids we
01:14made this like a just nice getaway vacation um so it just felt easier to set up a camera for 10 minutes
01:21and tell the story of what happened yeah versus uh i thought it would maybe even like therapeutic for
01:26you to yeah maybe like reassure she's kind of had like a ptsd i really think that she has like
01:32yeah i'm like for real i like have never really experienced being anxious like i am right now like
01:39i feel like i'm just so anxious walking around the house or like going anywhere i'm just like on guard
01:43of like if i could fall again or something's gonna touch my head or even just like i keep like replaying
01:49it in my head too because it was like probably the one of the scariest things besides like
01:55zealand's things that happened to him but for me at least it was like scariest thing that's probably
01:59ever happened to me um but should i just tell them a story should we just get into it i think so
02:05but wait this happened what two not even two days ago like 36 hours ago yeah yesterday morning yeah
02:12yeah yeah so it's pretty fresh yeah but basically i usually always like wake up to go pee in the
02:19middle of the night once at least and this was like my one wake up to go to the bathroom and reminder
02:24we're at our friend's house yeah and it's pitch blackout still and i had there was like a lot of
02:31questions of like did i eat good the day before do what did i have enough water the day before like
02:35stuff like that and like i like actually cooked a full-on meal the night before like yeah it's very
02:42just like typical day before like nothing i'm not like dieting nothing like that that was like going
02:47on um so i just woke up i remember i woke up right here on the bed and i took a sip of my water
02:53checked my phone for the time and it was like 4 58 um so like almost 5 a.m i like get up and i start
03:00walking to the bathroom right around here i go to the bathroom and i remember going to the bathroom
03:09pull my pants up and then i don't remember anything after that besides me being on the floor so i
03:14completely passed out um i don't know if i slipped i don't know if i fainted which is so wild i i've
03:22even like tried going and sitting in the bathroom and like closing my eyes and just being like
03:26tried to remember and i can't i like for the life of me i have no idea what happened i even like
03:33tried looking on the walls of like is there like a little bit of blood or like try looking on the
03:38ground like is there anything that i could have hit on the toilet you stood up no i know that's the
03:43thing is like i finished going to the bathroom it was like a really quick pee pulled my pants up
03:48stood up stood up yeah stood up pulled my pants up pants were completely on when i fell
03:53you know i didn't find her pantsless yeah um and then the next thing i know i literally it was
04:01maybe you know from where i was when i when i woke up it was maybe what two steps from the
04:06we probably just show them yeah right here um but the next thing i remember is the only thing i
04:12remember is is that standing up and then the next thing i remember is wake it up and i remember it
04:17just like pitch black and i remember thinking like i opened my eyes and i took like what i thought
04:24was like four or five really deep breaths like i and i remember thinking like am i dead like that
04:30was the first thing that went to my head for real i was like am i dead or am i dying and what is
04:35happening because why the heck am i on the floor like i don't i like it was just so strange and so i
04:40took like four really deep breaths and then all of a sudden i like started slowly coming up and
04:45realizing like oh i fell um so i i it did probably take me like a good 10 seconds to figure out i'm
04:52not dying i just fell and now i'm hurt and so i wake up and i'm like oh my head and so i went to
04:59feel my head and i could totally feel a giant hole in my head and i've never like broken a bone got
05:07stitches anything before so i just immediately knew like oh this is bad and i just like looked at my
05:11fingers and at that point did you come in and maybe turn some lights on i don't know but so i
05:19because at that point i could see blood on my fingers that's probably where i i probably met
05:23you at that exact moment yeah so i so funny enough this night savannah was sleeping in our bed right
05:29here and zealand and sunday came in our bed that night sometimes the kids just come in our bed
05:33and so i was like okay there's no room here so i went and go and slept in posy's bed where they
05:38left from i was like okay i'm gonna sleep in that bed i heard the boom um posy and i both heard the
05:44boom we heard a loud boom and i thought oh shoot one of the kids must have fallen out of the bed
05:47that savannah was in because it was kind of like tight so you went to go check out i would i would
05:50go check out this bed you were with posy in her bed i was with posy yes which is right next door
05:54um so i heard the boom came in here and i saw that both the kids were in the bed and it was a really
05:59loud boom but no one else woke up only me and posy um and again it's pitch black and both the kids
06:05are still asleep but you're not in bed and i'm like huh well no kids fell out of bed so i was
06:08kind of relieved i was like that was really not loud boom and where's savannah so i check on the
06:12kids i go and check on the other kid i go and check on everly um and she was all good and i'm like
06:17huh no no like no one broke into the house i come back in and that's where i see you standing in the
06:24bathroom uh because i'm like oh maybe she's in the bathroom i go so i could have been passed off for
06:28maybe a few minutes then yeah i mean it was maybe a minute okay it was maybe a minute but i don't think
06:34you're passing along maybe one two three minutes yeah but you're definitely that moment i came right
06:38here and that's probably why while you're passed out in the bathroom because then i went and checked
06:42everywhere else which again maybe a minute or two yeah came back in and i walk in and savannah's
06:47looking confused i'm gonna start shaking again she didn't but you're holding the back of your head
06:52and i see you remove your hand and the person that you say is i think i cracked my skull open
06:58and i'm like i'm so confused i'm like what do you mean and i see your hand covered in blood and i'm
07:03like oh my gosh so sorry i run to the look at the back of your head and i see the gash in the back
07:10of your head blood coming from it and i mean not to be morbid but i could see my skull see your skull
07:17like it was a big opening and so that's where um we just kind of like i didn't know what to do
07:23well and i because i i remember all this as soon as i got up and saw the blood i remember everything
07:30from there on out but i was i was like not well i remember i was like you called i when they got
07:39here my blood pressure was like crazy low well we laid you down and we started applying pressure
07:44to the back of your head and we called 9-1-1 um fortunately they showed up really quickly uh
07:51and i just i just tried like keeping it conscious and making sure you were trying to keep me awake
07:55because it was really hard for me to stay awake i remember it being really hard like like like just
07:59thinking like i have to stay awake until they get here you kept like kind of passing out like
08:03not you never actually passed out again but you're really white uh and i was like trying to i was
08:07trying to like engage with you in conversation like just making sure that you stayed awake and also
08:12keeping posy kind of out of the room because she was um there fortunately 9-1-1 showed up real
08:16quickly they took it did seem fast it was pretty quick i forget probably because the fire station
08:21right there um they checked your like vitals and yeah your uh was your blood pressure yeah do you
08:29remember what it was when when they were there with me was it i i i remember they did your blood
08:34pressure and you're really pale um and i think it was like i think i i it was all i kind of forget
08:43i think you're like 70 over 40 which is really low and i remember like i always try to gauge because
08:49we've had a few instances where we've had people over to check on zealand and stuff is i try to gauge
08:53like their professionals faces that's where i'm like you know i'm kind of looking at them because
08:57like i i don't know like what's happening i'm just like praying that you're okay and i and i kind of
09:01heard them like talking to each other like this is really low okay they're like is she and i remember
09:05them asking is she usually this pale and i'm like no like she's never that pale but you just
09:10obviously fell and busted your head like you're probably in shock and um so they instantly they get the
09:16stretcher once they put me in there i remember they did my arm again and they pulled me i could
09:21this when i was like starting to you know that he started giving me like an iv in there and i started
09:26coming back to life and he told me that i was 60 over 40 when he was checking me right now so i don't
09:31know if i dropped even more getting into the ambulance or what but yeah yeah i was right around
09:35there then i looked that up and that's like so low right yeah i think your body i think whenever you
09:41hit and maybe what we don't know is we don't know why she either slipped or passed out
09:45slipping makes more sense or slipping or bumping into a wall and tripping and then i'm just
09:51forgetting that part because you see to me fainting makes more sense only because there's nothing and
09:56i've like replayed this over there and i've even like i'm looking over there because the bathroom's
10:00over there so i'm trying to like replay this and i'm talking to you guys but there's that there was
10:04nothing on the floor it's not like it's like super slippery over there um but it is really hard tile
10:10which it's hard tile but i just like yeah i guess i just have no idea how i would have slipped fell
10:16and forgot about it that's the part that we don't know you know which will probably i don't know we
10:20we're just gonna monitor the situation i know but then i almost i hope that it was a slip i hope it
10:26wasn't a faint the only things that i can think of is like in high school i remember i would get
10:30i would i probably faded a handful of times maybe five times or something during high school
10:35whenever showers would be too hot i remember like my mom had caught me that i would faint either
10:41in the shower a couple times or like coming out of the shower a couple times and i think it even
10:45in our marriages been a time or two where i've gotten in a shower very light-headed you've never
10:49fainted that's where i'm not overly concerned and thinking it's like because you've explained that
10:56to me and i've seen it where she hasn't passed out but like there's been plenty of moments where you
10:59sat up too fast this just makes zero sense to me but yeah but yeah yeah so that's the part that we
11:04don't know but they get you on a stretcher um get you out of here real quick they tell me what
11:09hospital we headed to um i instantly um i gave i gave you your phone before you left i put it on
11:16you on the stretcher um and then i instantly get all the kids up it's like 5 20 a.m at this point
11:22still dark outside getting them ready real fast you know they don't really know what's going on i'm
11:27just kind of we're getting in the car we're gonna go see mom at the hospital if you know everybody
11:30asks it's like she slipped and she hit her head it's like i don't i don't know how she is
11:34and i'm kind of i text you before we head out um just asking like if you're okay but they're
11:38running all the tests so i she doesn't text me back for like 20 30 minutes um so if it's already
11:44bad at texting understandably yes but obviously on top of like everything going on so in my head i'm
11:50like okay we're just i'm waking everyone up we're going immediately yeah yeah i just my head just goes
11:57to the worst because like i send you off and it's like not a good situation to send you off and
12:01like i wanted to be in there with you but i got five kids here like i wish i could just you know
12:05there's just you gotta get to the hospital and get as good as you can but i don't know what i'm
12:08driving to right you know i remember i just remember that drive like playing in my head like
12:11you fell into a coma there's swelling going on in your brain there's internal bleeding like
12:16obviously i can only see the outside i don't know how bad the inside was so i was just like i'll
12:20just praying praying praying and i was just i just remember praying like super specific prayers
12:24like god jesus i just pray that her brain is not doesn't have any swelling her brain doesn't have
12:30any damage that she does not fall into a coma that her brain is totally healthy like exterior
12:35wise that's okay like they can stitch you up they can but internally like i just pray that your brain's
12:40okay right it was right there we could show you guys a scar you can look at my instagram um but we
12:47get to the hospital they run all the tests on you i mean they had to have you do the pee test
12:50you peed in a cup they take your blood then i did a ct scan i did an x-ray
12:55they did everything yeah as far as like there's nothing that they could see that was yeah no no
13:02tests that's why she might have fainted they were you know we didn't do like all that but like all
13:05the tests to make sure that like she's okay now yeah and yeah there's no swelling praise god there's
13:10no swelling there's no nothing beyond could have been a lot worse needing seven staples which honestly
13:18especially after reading some of your guys comments on instagram maybe she needed a few more staples
13:22because whoever stapled it might not have done the best job so now we're just monitoring that and
13:26but it staples hurt she took her first shower today and that was scary that was scary but it looks like
13:32it's healing good yeah i got to look at it and i think it's healing good despite maybe not the best
13:36staples but but and obviously a concussion when i get the state i need to get the staples taken out in
13:42like seven days so when i do i'll make sure that they check in that it's healing but praise jesus
13:48she's okay uh because he has been the most amazing husband in the whole world and best at
13:54because he's just like doing everything and he's so sweet of course they're the best um but we are
14:02just taking this that's all that we know this is like i said 36 hours ago even like i'm having a
14:07little bit of ptsd of just like waking up and going to the bathroom i mean it's only been one night so
14:11far but he literally held my hand and walked me to the bathroom and almost sat with me while i peed
14:16and got up because i was so scared so i feel like you're gonna be doing that for the next few
14:21nights nights until until i just start crawling by myself to the bathroom at night good marriage
14:26practice for us this is and sickness and health for better for worse um and yeah she definitely
14:33has like i think almost like the biggest thing right now is like the ptsd mode yeah like last night
14:38last night i'm putting all the kids to bed and i guess i'm putting like the last kid to bed
14:41savannah like comes into the room she's like can you come in bed with me now and and like pray with
14:46me and hold me and she was just like kind of shaking just yeah nervous like she i'm not shaking
14:52for many reasons besides just like anxiety which you never get yeah so i think you just have a
14:57understandably yeah it was a really traumatic moment for you like you said you thought you almost died
15:01so yeah um and also the kind of the unknown of like why she passed out so i think there's like a
15:07hesitancy of like yeah is this just gonna happen again as we as we talk she's like i'm scared like
15:12it might happen again kind of thing because there was no sign of it there was no sign if it was like
15:18a thing there was no sign so that just scares me yeah and i feel like if i slipped i would have
15:23remembered what i hit or something you know you probably remember the slip but also so that's just
15:28where i'm confused but we we think it's a thing but thank you jesus that i'm okay and
15:33i have you who's just amazing i'm the best dad and the best husband so i'm super grateful but
15:40and i'll be good and i think once it's like healed i'm not gonna have any more anxiety but i think it's
15:45just like so tender right now that i'm like so nervous if like if i were to fall again that it
15:50would just be like so bad you know yeah that's savannah's super mom and she just recovered
15:56and is recovering so well and um obviously she's taking it very easy compared to how she usually is and
16:02um me and the kids are stepping up as much as we can to make sure that she's taken care of the kids
16:07are all the kids are all being so helpful and sweet they know what happened to mom and we're even like
16:12at this point it's like we're joking with her at times even though it's only been 36 hours but
16:16every time i go pee they're like oh be careful mom even though sunday's like be careful mom we were
16:21doing charades like the the day after it happened and we're like in the yard and like some of the kids
16:25are like who am i whoa oh i'm gonna be like the joke of it's kind of like how our family like
16:32coax with trauma is like humor sometimes um just because we know she's okay yeah and in jesus name
16:38we're gonna believe in full healing with just a wound that is uh just a little scar and nothing wound
16:45and that this will never happen again but man i was scared okay well that's that's the story that's
16:52the story all right hey we love you guys thanks for uh thanks for tuning in for tuning in and thank
16:56you thank you everybody whether you're a friend or family or just even following us who've reached
17:00out and been praying i mean this was the best case scenario so like literally we can feel all the
17:05love yeah literally as i sit in savannah off in the the ambulance my prayer was that god i pray it's
17:11just like stitches in a concussion like that is the best case scenario right and that's what it was
17:15um stables and concussion but yeah um thank you guys for reaching out thank you guys friends who've
17:20sent stuff to the house that were saying that and all the things we love y'all uh and if we haven't
17:24gotten back with you then we will shortly leave them all right we'll uh see y'all next time bye guys
17:41okay actually put your head down a little bit okay i'm gonna numb you out here okay okay nice deep breath
17:51good job honey good job honey
17:59okay that wasn't bad at all that was one side we're gonna do the other side now
18:04big actually one muscle so
18:06good honey okay you ready well i think so i haven't done anything good sorry oh jeez let me see if this
18:18one hurts too okay because that was the very bottom ow okay i'll give you some more numbing notes okay
18:23one more sorry it's all right you're done love you're good i'm done you're done okay how do you do it
