00:00What are some of the biggest lessons you've learned in your life and your career?
00:05Your voice is one of the most powerful instruments you have.
00:10Take care of it, cultivate it, and learn how to use it.
00:16I've also learned to trust my instincts.
00:21And that was powerful for me because I was often told that my instincts were wrong.
00:27So I had to go on a journey to learn how to trust myself.
00:34I also learned that family is not always blood.
00:41You know, there's a difference between your given family and your chosen family.
00:46And while I love my provided family very, very dearly,
00:51majority of the support that I received consistently came from a chosen family.
01:00You know, aside from my mom and my sister, you know, because they were always been supportive of me.
01:05But when my mom and sister were not always, couldn't be there, and I was out in New York,
01:16it was the chosen family that rallied behind me and supported me in the community.
01:22You know, there's value in that.
01:24And also, you know, don't take yourself so seriously.
01:30Learn to laugh.
01:31Enjoy life.
01:33You know, life can be hard.
01:34It's tough.
01:35It can be dark.
01:36But it can be really beautiful, too.
