In a interview with Entertainment Editor, Rivéa Ruff, actor and actress John Boyega & Teyonah Parris talk about their roles in the newly released Netflix movie, 'They Cloned Tyrone.'
Transcript
00:00Sianna and John, you both have a reputation now for kind of being very intentional about the project that you take on.
00:05So I did want to ask each of you, what was it about they cloned Tyrone and about the character of Yo-Yo and Fontaine that really drew you to the script and made you say, this is what I really need to be involved in?
00:15Well, it came across as an opportunity, to be fair.
00:17I felt like it was a good opportunity to explore range.
00:20I also feel like the writing was high quality, very nuanced, well thought out.
00:25It was a breath of fresh air in an industry where sometimes you're reading things that may be in the same vein.
00:31So for me, it just is a script that stopped me and I go, I would love the opportunity to be a part of it.
00:36Yeah, everything John said, I echo and also as it pertains to Yo-Yo particularly, you have this woman who is in a job that is typically not looked upon well.
00:48And so to be able to take this woman and humanize her and to really feed into the stereotype is what we all do in this film and then break that apart.
00:58Say, actually, these are people with dreams, with ambitions, with courage and charm, and they deserve to be considered.
01:06So that was a story I really wanted to be a part of telling.
