00:00The President and Mrs. Obama have always been really relaxed and open, and so while they've
00:09always been very careful about guarding Sasha and Malia's privacy, they're also proud parents
00:15who can't help themselves but tell funny stories about the girls or get weepy about thinking
00:20about them going off to college.
00:22They're both very, very proud of their daughters, Sasha and Malia.
00:26They feel like despite the incredible, strange life that the girls must have had these past
00:31eight years, that they have really succeeded in giving them some normalcy and stability and
00:39discipline that they really believe that both of their daughters are great kids and now great
00:45young women.
00:46Will your daughters miss living here, or are they really ready for some more normalcy than
00:53this place provides?
00:55Well, look, they're ready to get out just out from their parents' house.
01:03The fact that their parents' house is the White House may add to it, but Malia, she's going
01:12off to college.
01:13She's a grown woman.
01:18I don't know about that.
01:20She's still a baby.
01:21She's still our baby.
01:22Okay.
01:23But Sasha, you know, is on her way.
01:25And I think there's a sentimentality about this place that they've had so many amazing
01:33experiences and the people here, the staff, are part of the family.
01:37And I think it is different for them than for most kids in that when they leave, they won't
01:45be able to come back home in a lot of ways.
01:49And I know Malia has spoken about that, that maybe she regrets the fact that she won't have
01:58that home base in the same room.
02:00And her room.
02:01And her room.
02:02They love their rooms.
02:03And they've made memories in there.
02:05So that's, that's over with.
02:08But they're, look, they're, they're ready to, they're ready to get, get out of the nest.
02:14We don't think they're ready, but they certainly think they are ready.
02:17They think they are.
02:18Yeah.
