00:00He was supposed to sign for Atletico Madrid but the transfer fell through, but who is Marcos Leonardo?
00:04Born on May 2, 2003 in Itapetinga, Brazil, he joined the FC Santos training center at a very young age in 2014.
00:10He quickly rose through the ranks and turned professional in October 2019 at just 16 years old.
00:14In 2020, he was integrated into the first team and in October of the same year, he scored his first continental goal and became one of the youngest goalscorers in the history of the competition.
00:22At Santos, Marcos Leonardo has established himself as a top-class number 9.
00:25Between 2020 and 2023, he scored 54 goals in 160 official matches and there from 2022, he inherited the mythical number 9.
00:32On the field, Marcos Leonardo is a number 9, he is a player who is a fox in the box.
00:36His primary qualities are his positioning, his anticipation, and above all, his finishing.
00:41In this case, in a football where we will increasingly rely on the speed of the players, well, he is not necessarily dependent on it.
00:46His right foot is clinical and he's even a good header of the ball despite not being very tall.
00:50However, you shouldn't count on him to be creative or to go out and press.
00:53In 2024, he will take a step forward by joining Benfica Lisbon for 18 million euros.
00:57However, his time there will be relatively short.
01:00He will score a brace in the league, otherwise he will score 8 goals in 24 games.
01:03But very quickly, in the summer of 2024, he will leave Benfica for Alilal for an amount of 40 million euros.
01:09In Saudi Arabia, he will confirm his profile, he will continue to score goal after goal.
01:12And while his performances are being noticed there, and let's be honest, he must have made quite a bit of money.
01:17Well, during the winter of 2026, it was Mavec's Atletico who were very interested in acquiring him.
01:21And he was interested in joining the Madrid club.
01:24And while a loan and then a transfer were considered, unfortunately, the transfer will fall through.
01:28Because at the same time, there was a bit of a mess regarding transfers between Saudi clubs.
01:31One of the main reasons was the delay in the transfer of Karim Benzema between Alitiad and Alilal.
01:36And so Alilal backed out and did not sell his young Brazilian star.
01:39And so, at the moment, we're going to do a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more, a little bit more.
