01:23So we're gonna get into the skincare, right?

01:39I'm well, I'm well.
01:40Thank you for having me.
01:41And you are glowing.
01:43So let's get into this.
01:45Like, tell me about yourself.
01:47Tell me about your story
01:48and how you got started in your business.
01:51So Marla Renee got started.
01:53My mother was sick with cancer.
01:56And so during that time,
01:58I was her caregiver, her sole caregiver.
02:01And she started developing allergies
02:02that she never had before.
02:04So working with the doctor,
02:06I just decided to start doing research.
02:08I had to start to be careful
02:09of what we were using on her skin
02:10because she never had any of these skin issues before.
02:14So through that process,
02:15I just became very aware.
02:18You know, sometimes when you're forced
02:19to look at something
02:20that you normally have blinders on,
02:22you just become very heightenly aware.
02:24And so through that process,
02:26I really realized that what's on the shelf,
02:29we really take for granted.
02:30And it's not 100%.
02:31So when my mother had passed away,
02:35I just needed an help, you know?
02:37So I had started with,
02:38actually I had started with like baking
02:40and stuff like that.
02:40And I was handing it all out
02:42to my friends and family.
02:43And then I had stumbled upon a Facebook group
02:46and they were doing like,
02:49sort of like body butters and things like that.
02:50So I decided to dabble in that.
02:52And I really liked it.
02:54So I was sending it out to friends, family.
02:56And then I really found
02:58that I love doing the facial aspect of it.
03:00So I was blessed enough
03:02to be able to work with a chemist.
03:04We honed in on my skills
03:05and I was able to actually formulate a skincare line.
03:09So almost eight years, you know,
03:12we have modern age scheme.
03:15That is absolutely beautiful.
03:17And you took something like that
03:19and made it into something incredible.
03:22So I commend you for that.
03:25So great.
03:26So tell me a little bit,
03:27like we're in a global pandemic right now.
03:31Businesses have had to pivot all over the place.
03:34You see how Facebook added new features
03:36because, you know,
03:37there are brick and mortar stores
03:38that are now selling online
03:40that never sold online before.
03:42What steps did you take
03:44to kind of adjust in your business?
03:47We took one major step
03:49where we decided that we wanted to pull back
03:52some of our full-size products.
03:55Depending on our supply demand,
03:57you know, we have certain ingredients
03:59that would take so much
04:01to make a certain product.
04:02And we didn't want to go through them so fast
04:04because at that time,
04:05we didn't know we were so much uncertainty
04:06and I didn't know
04:07if we would be able to source them
04:09as readily as we were prior before.
04:12So my tribe,
04:13I just kept them in the loop.
04:15Once you keep your tribe in the loop
04:16and you are transparent
04:17and open with them,
04:18they really ride with you
04:19through the punches.
04:20They've just been so gracious,
04:21understanding,
04:22and we really are blessed
04:24that we haven't had
04:25such any major hiccups as others.
04:28Right.
04:29I love how you say you're a tribe.
04:30So you must have
04:31a really great relationship
04:32with your consumers
04:33and you're a trusted source for them.
04:36Taking care of skin
04:37is a very intimate,
04:39delicate situation.
04:41So I'm excited
04:42to get into these products.
04:44So let's start to go down the line
04:46and talk a little bit
04:47about the products.
04:48Now, again,
04:49today we're featuring skincare.

05:13So I'm going to show you guys
05:14our three-day system.
05:15It's called our Glutaceous System.
05:17It targets hyperpigmentation,
05:20aka dark spots like that.
05:22So it comes with a four-piece.
05:23You're going to have your cleanser,
05:24your toner,
05:25your serum slash moisturizer, okay?
05:28And I'm going to show them
05:29in the order in which
05:29you would actually use this product.
05:31So the first one
05:32is going to be our honey cleanser.
05:34You guys can see that's in the bite.
05:36Okay.
05:37Now our honey cleanser,
05:38we actually get the honey sourced
05:39from our local beekeeper.
05:41We have a beekeeper on staff.
05:42And so honey is a natural antimicrobial,
05:47anti, you know,
05:48so it naturally will help lighten the skin.
05:51People who really suffer
05:52from any type of acne
05:53or skin issues,
05:54it will naturally help
05:56to speed up the healing process as well.
05:58Oh, wow.
05:59What I love about it also
06:00is that you can also use this as a mask.
06:04So you would just apply it on your face dry
06:05and you would let it sit.

06:08So you can let it sit all day
06:09and maybe on a Sunday,

06:23and the consistency of it,
06:26like I literally was like,
06:27whoa, is this actual honey?
06:29But it's just, it's not sticky at all.
06:32It's not, it's just so luxurious
06:34and your face just feels,
06:36not only does it feel clean,
06:37but it just feels like it's getting you back
06:39to the natural state of it.
06:41You know how sometimes you wash your face
06:42and it feels like you can make a noise
06:45with your face.
06:46It just made it so beautifully smooth
06:48and it's so nice to hear
06:49that it has properties
06:50to actually clear your skin as well.
06:52So that's an absolute plus.
06:54Yes.
06:55So the next step would be our cake-a-du-plum.
06:58This is our toner.
06:59So all of our toners are alcohol-free.
07:02They're in an aloe base.
07:04So cake-a-du-plum is one of the highest source
07:06of vitamin C's out there.
07:07So with the cake-a-du-plum,
07:09it's a vitamin C source,
07:10it's aloe and it has other botanicals in there.
07:12So it's not going to dry your skin.
07:14So this would be the second step
07:16of the 30-day system.
07:18As you know,
07:18vitamin C is one of those antioxidants,
07:21power play that you use in mainstream.
07:24And that is also responsible
07:25with help getting rid
07:26or fading any dark spots
07:28that you may have left residual
07:29from the trauma of hyperpigmentation,
07:31acne and things like that.
07:33Right.
07:34And then talk a little bit
07:35about why it's important
07:36to have alcohol-free facial toners.
07:39Like you mentioned about drying the skin.
07:42Absolutely.
07:42It's important to have alcohol-free toners
07:45because alcohol will dry your skin out,
07:47especially for oily skin beauties.
07:50I know that we tend to want to use things
07:52like witch hazel,
07:53alcohol-based parts
07:55because we want to dry the skin out,
07:56dry the oils out of our skin.
07:58But we're actually doing more harm than good.
08:01And it causes our skin to actually respond
08:03by producing more oil.
08:05So it's very counterproductive.
08:06And now in today's day and age,
08:09there's so many wonderful formulated facial sprays,
08:12the moisture,
08:13you know,
08:13that they're loaded with botanicals,
08:15a moisture drawing type of ingredients
08:17that don't really need the alcohol.
08:20Mm-hmm.
08:22Yeah.
08:23So that's the alcohol-based toner.
08:25They're no good.
08:26Incredible.
08:27Okay.
08:28So after you would use your toner,
08:30you're going to go into your next step.
08:31And that is going to be this serum.
08:33This is our serum.
08:34It is our Melefayde serum.
08:36See that there?
08:38There we go.
08:40So this is our Melefayde serum.
08:42So this right here
08:44is like the workforce of any regimen that you have.
08:48Our serums are work...
08:49Any serum is the workhorse of a skincare regimen.
08:51That's because it's formulated
08:53with the highest active ingredient
08:54that you're trying to target of the skin concern.
08:57So in this case,
08:58this is our 30-day hyperpigmentation system.
09:01So the Melefayde has the highest ingredient,
09:04has daisy serum,
09:05and also has a couple other ingredients in here.
09:07But this right here
09:08is the workhorse out of the whole regimen.
09:11So for most people,
09:12people like them,
09:13they may say like,
09:14I don't know where to start.

09:43to get the results that you see

09:47And so you can see the vast difference.
09:49And she used our mellifate.
09:50She used our honey.
09:52All the things that I'm mentioning,
09:54she had results with that.

11:56when you are a person
11:57that has melanin in their skin
11:59and you're a person of color.
12:00You have to be very careful
12:02with these procedures,
12:03these skin lightening procedures
12:04to you can get burns.
12:07It can cause even a worse problem
12:09with hyperpigmentation.
12:11So this is a really,
12:12really great product to use for that.
12:14Awesome.
12:15Yes, we do have to be careful
12:17because, you know,
12:18unfortunately our skin traumatizes very easily.
12:21So if you are one who suffers from breakouts
12:24and really don't have to do much,
12:26you could just,
12:26you think you're not even really doing much,
12:28but even just touching here,
12:30that it will be enough
12:31to cause trauma to your skin.
12:32And then you're left with this,
12:33with the dark area,
12:34which is your hyperpigmentation
12:36trauma to the skin.
12:38So, you know,
12:39that can happen just from the sun.
12:41You know, we,
12:42I don't know if there's a myth somewhere,
12:43wherever it started
12:44that we don't need sunscreen,
12:46but we need to be wearing our sunscreen
12:47365 days out of the year.
12:50You know,
12:51that is number one
12:52that would really help
12:54with any type of hyperpigmentation issues
12:56one may be dealing with.
12:58You know,
12:58and then when you're using products
12:59to help keep dark spots
13:01and blemishes
13:02and hyperpigmentation
13:03and things like that,
13:04a lot of these products
13:05do have actives in there.
13:06So you want to make sure
13:08that you do protect your skin
13:09when you leave
13:09or, you know,
13:10and have your sunscreen on
13:13because if you don't,
13:15the UV rays
13:16will actually cause
13:17an adverse effect.
13:18And so therefore
13:19you're spending your money
13:20and you're like trying to,
13:21hoping to get the results
13:22maybe you've seen
13:22your girlfriend have
13:23and then you're like,
13:24why isn't it happening with me?
13:25You've got to wear your sunscreen.
13:30Absolutely.
13:32Good point.
13:33And then,
13:33what else do you have?
13:35I also have
13:36from our body line,

13:40So,
13:40you know,
13:41I was waiting for this moment.

14:56of hyperpigmentation?
14:57Those are the main ones.
14:58That's the,
14:59that's the cause and effect.
15:00So,
15:01if you're picking,
15:01if you have cystic type acne,
15:04breakouts,
15:04and you are a picker,
15:06that the result is,
15:08the trauma is the leftover.
15:10If,
15:11you know,
15:11you're outside in the sun,
15:13beach,
15:14whatever the case you're doing
15:15and you don't have sunscreen,
15:16you erase,
15:17discoloration in your skin.
15:19That is the bias.
15:20That's the after effect.
15:21Hence,
15:21the hyperpigmentation,
15:22you know?
15:23So,

15:25the main thing really,
15:26most people,

15:27is just to keep your hands

15:29most people who have
15:30the acne breakouts

16:48you know,

16:50so my name is Amira
16:51and I've pretty much
16:53been doing skincare,
16:55making skincare
16:55for,
16:57I want to say,
16:57over 20 years.
17:00I started in 2001
17:02and I really just
17:04started making skincare
17:06for myself
17:06and my family
17:07because we had
17:08eczema really bad
17:09and a lot of
17:11the products
17:12that were on
17:13the mainstream,
17:14it didn't,
17:16it didn't have
17:17the right ingredients
17:18that would help
17:19cure eczema
17:21for myself
17:22and my family.
17:22and so I just
17:24decided to find out
17:26what's good for skin

17:29decided to make

17:33about that though

17:34was just making it

17:38over time

18:19what's that smell

18:22and I just
18:23started making
18:24the products
18:25for them
18:25and you
18:27cannot imagine
18:28the pure joy
18:29on these women's
18:31faces
18:31when they
18:32received
18:32the product
18:34because a lot
18:35of us
18:36that were there
18:37were going
18:37through so many
18:38different issues
18:39and traumatic
18:40situations
18:41and all
18:43we needed
18:43was just
18:44a little
18:45bit of
18:45something
18:45to make

21:532019 so I
21:56fulfilled my

22:07course what
22:08happened was
