Lawmakers postpone voting

House Justice Committee chairman and Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro, alongside House Justice Committee members Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon and Manila Rep. Joel Chua, discuss their decision to move the voting of the sufficiency of substance in the first impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus and endorsed by Pusong Pinoy Rep. Jett Nisay on Tuesday, February 3. Luistro said that they will also vote on the sufficiency in substance on the complaint filed by the Makabayan bloc on Wednesday.

00:05So for today, you've witnessed our deliberation on the sufficiency in substance of the Jesus complaint.
00:17We suspended the voting on the sufficiency of substance because we wanted to give time to the justice members
00:28to think them over, all the discussions that we had today, before they vote tomorrow afternoon.
00:36We likewise suspended the deliberation on the sufficiency on substance with respect to the second complaint,
00:45that is the Masa et al., because what happened today was quite exhaustive already.
00:51And we wanted the Kongs to have fresh mind when they listened to the manifestation of possession of the endorsers of Masa et al., no?
01:02So during our deliberation, narinig niyo yung iba't ibang comments ng mga Kongs,
01:08but all of them pertain to the requirement of recital of facts which must constitute an offense
01:17that is determinative of the jurisdiction of the Justice Committee, meaning it should be an impeachable offense.
01:25Kaya nung palagi kong sinasabi, it's not enough that the official is guilty of an offense.
