00:00Well, two already of the damnedest fights that will certainly live up to Corrin Hall standards.
00:18It's been a wild night. Joining me on Guest Colour for our main event, Trilla Maloney,
00:25you've been a part of it. It's been a hectic one here tonight in Corrin Hall.
00:29It has bro, it has. New Japan bro, a lot of people got a lot of questions about New Japan right now
00:36and I think they're getting answers bro. Damn right about it.
00:43And this is the biggest question of the night, Oiwa and Koto.
00:48It sure is, right now TMDK have the win thanks to Zack Sabre Jr over Yossi Asi.
00:54I've got questions about you and Retro Zuno.
01:02I've got questions about Retro Zuno too, get in the ring and check someone's boots dude.
01:06I'm not going to give you answers, Retro Zuno is always hating me for some reason.
01:10What, why do you think that is Chris?
01:17If you had to, if you had to take a shot in the dark.
01:19I want to know, let's get some gossip going before we get this bell wrong.
01:23Why, why do you think old Axe shoes hate you?
01:25I don't know.
01:27There's too much gossip going on all over the place here.
01:29Here's one great point while we're doing the Yuck Yucks.
01:35Lance Malto, the member of the Gotoh Revolutionary Army has been in the corner for
01:40each of the never 0.6 man champions in these three singles matches and he's
01:45won a different t-shirt for every single one. He was in the Bolton t-shirt for Bolton's match
01:50and then changed to Yoshi Asi, you know he's got a Gotoh.
01:53Are they charging him for these?
01:54Well, yeah.
01:58Solely giving all of Hiroki Gotoh's royalty checks at this point in time.
02:08E-Honda don't need no more royalty checks.
02:16You know this match almost presents itself like a, it feels like a number one contender for a
02:21singles title. It could well be, you know, I mean I think in the last one we talked about
02:26Yoshi Asi and Zack Sabre Jr very much a G1 quality matchup.
02:30Harley and Bolton can go back and watch it on your phone on the bus or something.
02:35It was awesome.
02:36Dude, I was taking my knee pads and boots off watching it on the screen backstage.
02:39That was some, that was Godzilla and King Kong in the flesh bro.
02:42That is new, new beginning all over, as we said a lot of questions at this point in time about
02:51who's going where, who wants to move up, who wants to move down, who wants to move sideways.
02:56I think yourself and Shingo Takagi, Hanari and Great Okan, that is just that level of matchup.
03:01I can't wait for that in Osaka.
03:03I think so.
03:06I'm hoping that's the boy taking good care of Shingo bro, taking care of his ribs.
03:15All right, here we go.
03:16Oiwa and Hiroki Goto, first time ever in a singles environment.
03:24They have faced each other in the World Tag League semi-finals last winter.
03:30Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr. were up on Goto and Yoshihashi.
03:34And then, a couple weeks ago, Goto, Yoshihashi, Bolton, beating Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr.
03:41And Hartley Jackson for the Nova 0.6 fan championships.
03:46Very, very similar builds and weights on these guys too.
03:49Yeah.
03:49So I would have to give the edge to Oiwa though,
03:51because Goto has had a few more years of mileage put on that body.
03:56Still phenomenal condition, big heavyweight shape.
03:59But, Oiwa's got a youth on his side.
04:03And maybe a little bit more hunger, we'll see.
04:09Something you can say, Goto has the calluses.
04:13And at the same time, that notorious ability.
04:17And I like to ask, I mean, over the years, who hurts the most in that ring?
04:22And a lot of people will say Hiroki Goto.
04:24Everything.
04:25Yeah.
04:26But with the physical callus comes a mental edge.
04:30What you put your body through, what you sustain, and what you can deal with in the ring,
04:34all those hours you put in, yes, takes a toll on your body, takes away your health bar,
04:38but your ring IQ goes to the roof.
04:39Nice.
04:43Use of that top wrist lock, and just driving Oiwa down.
04:49Bridge on his toes, wow.
04:50One, two, three, four.
04:54Use of leverage real here, Oiwa.
04:56A lot of training on his excursion to pro wrestling.
05:00Noire underneath the scenario.
05:02Gower, of course, a lot under Zack Sabre Jr. as well.
05:05That marriage of the power, the brute strength, plus so much technical ability.
05:11He's like a quintessential classic heavyweight wrestler, you know?
05:16He'd be one of those guys, you know what I mean, I think,
05:23who's enjoying promotions back in the day, you know what I mean?
05:25He'd be right at the top.
05:27Yeah.
05:29Yeah, he wouldn't look out of place in the late 90s, early 2000,
05:32when he gets a Kenta Kabashi or a Kawada, you know what I mean?
05:37And again, Oiwa keeping hold of that side headlock on Hiroki Goalto.
05:43It was, I mean, a lot of questions they'll go,
05:46you know, Oiwa's want to, and his grit, and I think,
05:51I mean, a lot of those questions were answered in the World Tag League final,
05:53you know what I mean?
05:54I wonder if did, what was Gabe Kidd's feedback on
05:57Oiwa's performance in that final matchup?
06:00Well, dude, that final larry from Oiwa put Gabe on his head, so.
06:04Yeah.
06:06Gabe really wasn't saying too much after that, other than he needed some ice,
06:09and he needed to get his head down for the night, but I watched that match.
06:12And I would honestly say it was a defining match.
06:17It was a crowning moment for Oiwa, aside from victory, he wrestled with a different edge,
06:23and I would put that down to him and Yuto Ice having their, their rift for the months leading
06:29up to that, I think I was with Walker and Cole commentary on that.
06:33And it just, it just seemed like he needed to get a little bit more pissed off to really tap
06:37into who Oiwa is, and I think he found himself in the ring at the World Tag League finals.
06:42Yeah, I think they certainly found the people as well in Oto in the moments after that,
06:48even in defeat, he really moved forward to Oiwa with the IWGP Tag Team Championships.
06:54He'll put the, sort of the joy of being a champion at last in New Japan Pro Wrestling,
07:01and then just losing it in your first defense. That heartbreak, too, is something that Oiwa's
07:06gone through. And Gotoh, Hamlin's net breaker, drives him down into the cover here,
07:11and Red Shoes is going to get to two.
07:31So, coming up on just about, I think, a year to the day, Iryohei Oio scored his first
07:38singles main event win right here in Coropanpool against Gotoh's partner, Yoshihashi.
07:44It feels strange how everything comes full circle, and back again with TMDK, and Bishamon
07:53certainly come full circle with United Empire and Wardogs Unbound Company, everything else.
08:01That's for sure. Tell me about it.
08:08Gotoh really trying to wear Oiwa down here, Dan, and
08:14interesting kind of approach trying to take the wind out of it.
08:16Yeah, they're both favored this headlock heavily, like since the battle's wrong.
08:21And oftentimes you see that, it's one guy waiting for the other to make the first mistake.
08:28So again, that's high level wrestling.
08:30Sometimes you're better off being on the defensive and trying to be on the back step with a guy,
08:35just so he can get a little bit of wind in his sails, and he can catch him making that mistake.
08:43Mistakes right now for Hiroki Gotoh.
08:45I mean, don't forget, one year ago, Hiroki Gotoh was on the path to winning the
08:51IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
08:54Rex Ava Jr. said he wants to make a world champion out of Yohei Oiwa by the time is 30.
09:0227 wants to beat Gotoh tonight. Elbow off the top.
09:07Red shoes there again, and Gotoh only gets the two.
09:11How much does it mean in a situation, like you've been in situations like this,
09:16singles previews leading into tag team championship matches.
09:21How much does it mean to you in this position to get that singles victory?
09:24Well, if you come out of this match as the loser, it's going to play on your mind all the way through to the tag.
09:30And it's going to play on your mind in the ring as you're wrestling that tag.
09:36On the other hand, if you're the guy that wins, you go into it with a little bit of an edge,
09:40but also that can lead to a mistake, you know?
09:42A lot of times his preview matches are strange because when the bell rings tonight,
09:48whoever wins, it doesn't really count, Chris, in my opinion, to when we get to the tag.
09:54You know, anything can still happen, it's still anyone's match.
10:01You won't come away with a little bit more money in your pocket,
10:03but you get much more money if you're the champion at the end of the day,
10:07and that'll be the case February the 11th.
10:16Again, I see Gotoh in the commanding position here, trying to beat what we're into, and a mistake here.
10:21Oh-ho!
10:24Oh-ho!
10:32Hartley was out here yesterday with me, and we had a little conversation,
10:36and Hartley wasn't allowed to vote for himself on who has the best senton in New Japan right now.
10:41A lot of people use that move, and that was pretty effective for Oiwa right there.
10:47We got to give it to Jackson, though. We got to. Kilos are kilos, Chris.
10:53Yeah.
10:54I don't have any myself, so I'm not in the position to say it.
11:01Kilos in kilometers per hour there into Gotoh in the corner.
11:05Oh, he's up high with the dropkick.
11:09It's really good that Oiwa's physique and weight has gone up while he's been spending so much time in the ring,
11:22because the agility that he started with in the dojo hasn't left him.
11:27Sometimes you take a little bit of time away, you come back five, six kilos heavier.
11:30It's kind of a shock. You get in the ring and all of a sudden you're like, well, I can't jump as high as I was,
11:36but Oiwa spends so much time in the ring, especially on his excursion.
11:40Where it's like every day he may get a couple grams heavier.
11:43Yeah.
11:44All that weight though, right on the knee, Ushikoroshi.
11:47Yeah, every single kilo of it right down on his neck.
11:53And it's going to cause a little bit of a break here for Uokigoto, a little bit of breathing room.
12:00To stall off the grip.
12:02It's an interesting move too, because you come down on the knee first, but your hips,
12:05you know, as wrestlers, obviously our goal is to never be the one on our back.
12:09But the preferred landing is flat.
12:10You want all of your spine to hit that mat once, when it's your neck, and then your hips go down.
12:17So the bolt of lightning from the back of your head down to the top of your ass, it's no fun.
12:20And they're being tested here.
12:37One on one by TMDK and Hontai in this little Best of Three series.
12:44Triple main event here in Coaklin Hall.
12:47Oh, it's a new beginning.
12:49It's the last televised stop.
12:51One, two, one, two.
12:52And who's going to get the last statement ahead of Osaka?
12:54One, two, one, two, one.
13:09No.
13:10Whoa.
13:12Wakey, wakey goes to Osaka.
13:16Goto's spirit carried on running the rope, bro, his body got cut dead.
13:25Right?
13:28Head somewhere in the third row, and now being picked up.
13:31Watch this, Tenzan Suplex.
13:37And it's not quite there just yet.
13:40When you look at the model, the physique, the style of OIWA to an extent, Shoto Umino as well,
13:49yourself, Shingo Takagi, you know, Bolton, Oleg, Hartley Jackson.
13:53You know, I think we're in for 2026 being the year of dudes rock pro wrestling.
13:57Oh, dude, we got some beef in this locker room right now, bro.
14:03I feel that beef from OIWA.
14:07Going to come down across Goto, Timber.
14:11Oh, my God.
14:15Take a deep breath, Goto, my God.
14:18And OIWA sensing the time might be soon.
14:30And Discus Lariot the grip.
14:34Here it is, goal.
14:35You notice that a majority of the roster use a Lariot.
14:55And with any other move, you'd kind of like, come on, guys, switch it up.
14:58But dude, people use that move because it works.
15:01Especially when your arm is the size of a Goto or an OIWA.
15:05You're getting hit with a log in your Adam's apple.
15:09Well, I mean, Mike Tyson said, everybody's got a plan until you get punched in the face.
15:14And since close fists in the face are illegal, Lariot would be the best thing.
15:18Watch this, Chaos Theory, a little bit of Doug Williams for you.
15:21And OIWA, his shoulders nearly getting to three.
15:26Doug would be proud.
15:27I had a few matches with Doug back in England before he retired, and yeah,
15:32he'd be proud of the form on that.
15:34Steve Williams to be proud of that one, Dr. Bomb.
15:37This is it, man, it's that classic heat is giving him.
15:42And this will never go out of style in Japanese pro wrestling.
15:50And this classical style of a big, stocky athlete.
15:53I had to here.
15:55And this will never go out of style.
15:59Although ball 감사합니다 gets dumb.
16:03And this will never be a guru.
16:05It will never go out of style for a bag.
16:09No, damn!
16:09About power, he's got to jump off all웅!
16:12And do not hit your cap, it is thatンダー's enough for a bbby.
16:17And the odds are once again even.
16:27That's exactly what Gotoh needed right there.
16:32Man, listen to this crowd,
16:36this is a new beginning, bro.
16:40These people really fighting for the young dogs right now, it's awesome.
16:43There is a persistent voice for
16:51Hiroki Gotoh with the majority here in Corcoran going for Hoiwa.
17:01I think you have to look at it then in terms of the bigger picture,
17:05not just the 0.6-man championships, but single supremacy as well.
17:09New Japan Cup coming up in the month of March.
17:13Championship opportunities ahead.
17:16But Gotoh won't let it go.
17:18All GTW, all the air being driven out of Hoiwa.
17:22Get through him with Stan.
17:39Hiroki Gotoh has done so many times, he's gonna put Hoiwa to bed.
17:44Wait, again, no.
17:48No corner, roll, sat right down.
17:53Oh, we're gonna come to the wire.
17:56Moira wasn't cheated on that cover at all.
18:02So hard for Gotoh to kick out of it.
18:05But he's there, my God, you heard the impact.
18:07We just got the 15-minute call too, and this has been flying by.
18:12They just haven't stopped going.
18:14All clear, these singles matches have been just that.
18:19I think Hoiwa now finally stalled thanks to the headbutt.
18:24Here it comes, the reverse GTR maybe, whoa, 10 to bound.
18:28Here it is, yes, he's done it.
18:32I mean, you'd sit yourself down, I mean, a momentary mistake, just the one opportunity
18:53that Gotoh could capitalize on, and he did just that.
18:56GTR Kai and Hiroki Gotoh against the Duke, and the champions 2-1 up on the challenges
19:03in this best of three series.
19:06That's what they call big match edge.
19:11There's no substitute for experience, Chris.
19:12I think I've said this on commentary many times.
19:16Gotoh's been in these positions more than Hoiwa's maybe had matches in general.
19:24How far in is Gotoh now, 20-plus years?
19:27Right.
19:28How many main events do you think he's had?
19:31Scores, and he's had so many of the same defeats that Hoiwa has felt just now.
19:38You come out through that, through those, you get those calluses that we talked about.
19:44You also get that ring IQ we spoke about.
19:47Yep.
19:51Well, Gotoh seems charmed by that performance from Hoiwa.
19:56These people definitely were.
19:57Mm-hmm.
19:58Well, Hoiwa will get one more shot, nine days' time, and then we're openweight six-man 13 championships.
20:12He's got to hope he can tap into that place like he did with Yuto.
20:17And he's got to...
20:18You know, with a guy like Hoiwa, he's a good guy.
20:20He's a nice guy.
20:21Good guys don't want to be pissed off.
20:24They don't like that emotion.
20:25They don't like them negative feelings, but you have to sometimes bathe in that.
20:28You have to get pissed off.
20:29You have to let these feelings happen to you to unlock.
20:31Unlock what wasn't there tonight in the very final moments.
20:35You gotta tap in, you gotta get back, you gotta be pissed off about this.
20:39You gotta be pissed off all the way to Osaka.
20:41You can't hide it.
20:42You can't try and pretend this didn't happen.
20:44You can't try and talk yourself into positivity.
20:46Be pissed off and use it in Osaka.
20:48All right, here's Gotoh.
20:54No, do not think you can look down on a veteran.
21:15Thanks to everyone showing up here tonight.
21:24I'm a guy, Gotoh.
21:31I'm a guy, Gotoh.
21:34I'm a guy, Gotoh.
21:36Today is my son's death.
21:40This is certainly a day to remember the anniversary of his father's loss.
21:46I'm worried about my life.
21:51But his dad might be concerned for Hiroki Gotoh, but don't worry.
22:02And nobody here should be worried either.
22:06I'll be surprised by this new roster.
22:07I'll be surprised by this new roster.
22:08I'll be surprised by this new roster.
22:13I'll be surprised by this new roster.
22:19Hiroki Gotoh will continue to prove this is the Premier League of professional wrestling.
22:25In 2026, it's only just begun.
22:32And you can all be with Hiroki Goto in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
22:44And you can all join us in 9 days in Osaka.
22:49You talk about being angry, feeling alone.
22:52There's going to be a lot of hate and hate in Osaka in 9 days time.
22:56A lot of it with the Unbound Company and the United Empire.
23:02Jake Lee and Yoda Tsuji in the main event for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
23:07We talked about it earlier in the broadcast, a match I believe of moments.
23:11Tsuji can eat Jake Lee alive if he can wrestle him and keep him grounded.
23:16But if Jake Lee has an opening, Yoda Tsuji might be toast.
23:20Yeah, I think there's going to be a lot of eyes on that.
23:23It's our first big main event on a pay-per-view since the Tokyo Dome.
23:28Yeah, there's a lot of hatred going into that building in a few days, Chris.
23:31Across the board, all up and down that card.
23:36I think certainly David Finley and Callum Newman will be an incredible fight to look out for.
23:42Gabe Kidd, Andrade El Idolo as well.
23:44Very, very quickly your thoughts for that tag team match.
23:47Great Okan and Hinari coming up with yourself and Shingo Takagi.
23:50Well look, obviously I don't have Shingo with me for this tour because they put him on the shelf before I got here.
23:55So I'm already pissed off and like I said, I'm not going to hide from those emotions.
23:58I'm going into Osaka pissed off, but I'm going in there composed.
24:01That's been my mistake so many times, I've been pissed off.
24:04I've been angry and I've played my mistakes.
24:07And the people have seen that for the past three years.
24:10He's here at Giyotel.
24:12So while he gets his talking though, I'm going to go and split,
24:19channel some of the anger into a workout, try to get my head down, Chris.
24:22And I will see you in Osaka, my boy.
24:24All right, thank you, Driller Maloney, Hiroki Goto, now at age 46.
24:29He's going to fight until his dying day.
24:35I'm going to fight after the past two years.
24:52And the next time in Osaka...
24:54A silent message being delivered from the heavens from his father.
24:58Coming up next.
24:59He will show his father in heaven and everybody here in the building in Osaka.
25:05everybody on NJPW World that Hiroki Goto is still going to be the never champion and that Hiroki
25:15Goto can still be right at the top of professional wrestling. Man what a night we had what a night
25:21we had in here in Corrigan Hall. That final stretch of three matches certainly G1 quality
25:28absolutely sensational and if you're just just joining us at the end of this broadcast make
25:35sure you go back and watch those other two singles matches in the archives okay so that's going to do
25:41it for us right here on NJPW World for the road to new beginning next time we see you we'll be live
25:47in English February the 11th new beginning in Osaka and Walker Stewart is going to be making the trip
25:54over for us here on the broadcast myself and Walker will give you all the action eight matches
26:00on the card what a night it is going to be as we said Jake Lee Yodosuji in the main event for the
26:07IWGP heavyweight championship the IWGP tag team titles the knockout brothers seeking their third
26:13defense against Shota Umino and Yuya Urumura who were victorious earlier on tonight can Aaron
26:19Wolf protect the never openweight championship or will the house of torture coalesce under
26:23Ren narrator there's a lot to look into that one and a whole lot to look into with Unbound
26:28Company and United Empire you've got David Finlay taking his fight to Cal Newman deeply personal
26:35Gabe Kidd and Andrade El Idolo and all the way down the card it's going to be a thrilling thrilling
