00:03SpaceX has asked the Federal Communications Commission for approval to launch up to one
00:07million solar-powered satellites designed to operate as data centers for artificial
00:11intelligence, according to TechCrunch. In a company filing, SpaceX said the proposed
00:17satellites would efficiently meet rising AI computing demand while serving as an initial
00:22step toward a solar-powered, multi-planetary future for humanity. The Verge reported that
00:27the satellite count is unlikely to be approved outright and may serve as a negotiating position.
00:33The FCC recently approved 7,500 additional Starlink satellites while deferring authorization
00:39for nearly 15,000 more. Around 15,000 man-made satellites already orbit Earth, raising pollution
00:47and debris concerns. The filing comes as Amazon seeks an FCC deadline extension for its satellite
00:54program, and as SpaceX considers a merger with Tesla and XAI ahead of a potential public offering.
