Dans leur paisible petite ville, les six enfants Herdman, issus d'une famille pauvre, sont défavorablement connus de tous. Les petites terreurs fument, mentent, volent et jouent des poings pour un oui ou pour un non. Pour couronner le tout, choisis pour interpréter les rôles principaux du spectacle de Noël de leur église, ils transforment les répétitions en chaos. Grace, qui met en scène la pièce pour la première fois, est rapidement dépassée par cette fratrie incontrôlable. Elle hésite à renvoyer les enfants Herdman...

01:06We take the pageant seriously.

01:10What do you all suggest, that I kick the Herdman's out of the church?

01:17And Ralph wants to be Joe.

01:18And the angel of the Lord?

01:22The Herdman's shouldn't be here.
