Lowest number of January Channel crossings by migrants for five years

Fewer than 1,000 migrants arrived in the UK last month after crossing the English Channel – the lowest January figure for five years.The Home Office confirmed on Sunday that no migrants made the journey on January 31, continuing a run of 12 days with no crossings.It means 933 people arrived in the UK in small boats last month.It is the lowest number for January since 2021 when 224 migrants made the journey.
