00:00FX is giving the green light to a limited series about punk rock legends, Sex Pistols.
00:13The Disney-owned outlet has ordered a six-episode series titled Pistol, based on a memoir titled
00:18Lonely Boy, Tales from a Sex Pistol, by the band's guitarist, Steve Jones.
00:23The project will be directed and executive produced by Danny Boyle,
00:26known for his work on Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire, among many others.
00:30Pistol will center on Jones, who co-founded Sex Pistols in the mid-1970s.
00:34It'll follow his life from West London's council estates to one of the early centers of punk culture in London,
00:40Vivian Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's Sex Boutique, and the band's meteoric rise and fall.
00:46Boyle also spoke out about the impact the rock icons had, saying,
00:49Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your mates
00:53and screaming your songs and your fury at all they represent.
00:57This is the moment that British society and culture changed forever.
01:00Toby Wallace is set to play Jones in the series,
01:03and the cast also includes Onsen Boone as Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten,
01:07Louis Partridge, known for his work on Enola Holmes as bass player Sid Vicious,
01:11and Game of Thrones favorite Maisie Williams as punk icon Jordan, among others.
