00:00When you picture a desert, what do you see? Endless waves of hot, golden sand, right?
00:06Well, what if I told you that's only part of the story? Let's count down the three largest
00:11deserts on earth. Coming in at number three is the one you were probably thinking of,
00:16the Sahara Desert in North Africa. It's the largest hot desert in the world,
00:21a truly massive sea of sand and rock. But for number two, we need to head to the extreme north.
00:27The Arctic Polar Desert is a vast, icy landscape stretching across the top of the globe,
00:33covering parts of multiple countries. It's a desert defined by its extreme cold,
00:38not its heat. And the number one largest desert on our planet, it's the Antarctic Polar Desert.
00:44That's right, the entire continent of Antarctica is a desert, a colossal expanse of ice and snow.
00:50From scorching sands to frozen tundras, earth's deserts are incredibly diverse.
