02:37Hello everybody I'm Mark Jones alongside Richard Jefferson
02:39Angel Gray joining us in just a moment while Boston Richard has the number two rated offense in the NBA
02:45and all of it showed in that first half
02:47Well I love the ball movement the togetherness it's you have players that are catching passes and there aren't even in the frame yet but it's togetherness it's individuals getting into each other's eyesight
02:57getting into each other's eyesight Kuzma loses that sight it was the timing in which Jalen Brown cut and this is probably my favorite play of the first half
03:05Houser gets off the ball and starts to move and you see Kada with the back screen and even Walsh gets there in time when Houser gets there he knows that pass is coming it's like a quarterback throwing a player open
03:17Great read and Simon's giving them 14 points off the bench today today we celebrate NBA Pioneers Day and honor the league's first black players Chuck Cooper
03:27Matt Sweetwater Clifton and Earl Lloyd scan to learn more the great history of them and pioneers of ushering in other black players in the NBA here's Pritchard out top
03:42Houser guarded by Rollins
03:46and rebounded by Poors
03:50Rollins into the frontcourt
03:52had a strong first half good position early in the possession by Turner and rewarded with the layup
03:57and I understand that in this day and age big players big men are more skilled than ever
04:02Miles Turner is one of the best big man shooters in history
04:06but if you got Sam Houser on you go to the block you get an easy bucket just what he did there
04:11wasn't that long ago Richard they were calling the low post up an inefficient shot
04:15those people don't know basketball
04:17those people don't know those are numbers people
04:19Brown with the fade away
04:21Jalen Brown with a rather quiet first half for him
04:27let me touch it on that
04:29Bobby Portis goes into post again
04:31the reason why I don't think that that's good basketball is because you're not taking in everything to account as Rollins knocks down the three
04:39what happens if you have a player in foul trouble
04:41what about the momentum
04:43you want to go to the highest percentage shot possible
04:45you want to go to the mismatch
04:47taking all of that out of the game
04:49just makes it a numbers game
04:51and that's not how the game of basketball is supposed to be played
04:53situational Brown
04:55two for two here in the third quarter
04:57Jalen Brown the team's leading score
04:59just under 30 points per game on a very efficient 48% from the field
05:06the unquestioned leader and the voice of this team right now
05:09especially with Tatum on the men with the Achilles injury
05:13Portis missing that hook
05:15White looking to push
05:17White knocked down a couple of threes in that first half
05:21from the mid-range it's good
05:23Doc Rivers has seen enough
05:25calls a timeout to stop the hemorrhaging
05:27Milwaukee
05:29with Boston extending its lead to 15 when we come back
05:37Welcome back everyone
05:39it's time for today's DraftKings Sportbook player polls
05:43Ryan Rollins
05:45already over
05:47his number for the regular season average
05:49and Jalen Brown
05:51talked about him
05:52hey

05:59Jalen Brown has done so much
06:01not just on the basketball court
06:03but
06:04throughout this
06:05Boston community has had a huge
06:08impact
06:09of course he is
06:11the youngest person ever to lecture at Harvard University
06:14well again it's a definition of more than an athlete
06:17I think
06:18especially young athletes need to understand
06:20that
06:21you know
06:22yes there is so much
06:23amazement
06:24that comes with your physical abilities
06:25but also
06:26so many of the pioneers
06:27it was their mentality
06:28it was the education that they fought for
06:30that's what made them a difference make
06:32that's
06:34off the miss
06:36it's Pritchard guarded by Rollins
06:38Milwaukee down by 15 to start this third quarter
06:42Brown against Rollins
06:48got downhill
06:49tump
06:50pull up
06:51buy one get one free
06:52Jalen Brown
06:53I like how slow he goes
06:58look he takes his time
07:00look at where the defense
07:01where the help is
07:02he goes right just
07:03that's the definition
07:04of getting to your spot
07:06if Kyle Kuzma comes over
07:07that's a corner shot
07:08so he doesn't have to worry about that right side defender
07:11that's where you can attack the floor
07:13nice pull up there by Jalen Brown
07:14he has been a monument of efficiency in this game
07:17six of nine from the field
07:1914 points
07:21now 15 and nine boards
07:23got to be considered
07:25one of the top
07:26three MVP candidates
07:28yeah and
07:29I don't get too deep into the MVP candidate
07:31as much as everybody is
07:32in the first two weeks
07:33three months
07:34four months
07:35five months of the season
07:36but if you talk about players
07:37that are having the best season
07:40for their teams
07:41he is tops of that list
07:43on Q Brown
07:45lacing another three
07:4868-47
07:53Jalen Brown
07:57Jalen Brown stepping it up
07:59giving his team a 21 point lead
08:02with nine to go in the third
08:04medium series game is tonight
08:066.30 Eastern
08:07at Raymond James Stadium
08:08in Tampa, Florida
08:10between the kick of Kucherov
08:12and the lightning
08:13coverage drops with the point
08:15at 6 Eastern time on ESPN
08:17and the ESPN app
08:20here at Pasternak as well
08:22and on the action
08:24back here 68-47
08:25let's see where the Bucs
08:26run out of the timeout
08:27Kuzma
08:28put his head down
08:30and draws the foul
08:31Doc Rivers
08:34one of the best
08:35at ATO
08:36coming out of timeout
08:37creating opportunities
08:38this one
08:39gets Kuzma
08:40going downhill
08:41and Keita just needed
08:42to keep his hands high
08:43allow for
08:44as you mentioned
08:45Derek White
08:46one of the best shot-blocking
08:47guards
08:48hold your ground
08:49show verticality
08:50allow your teammates to help
08:51Kuzma
08:53the foul line
08:54is 74%
08:55free throw shooter
08:56had 31 points
08:58against Boston
08:59the last time these two teams ran one
09:06Doc Rivers is almost
09:08prophetic when he said
09:09his concerns were the offensive
09:11rebounding
09:12of Boston
09:13and Jalen Brown
09:14checked and checked
09:15wow
09:16he's been doing this a while
09:17he understands
09:18you know where his team
09:20might be vulnerable in areas
09:22and you know just with this match
09:24you're not able to really meet it
09:25I have a feeling they wouldn't be
09:26worried about the glass
09:28if Giannis was healthy
09:29yeah
09:30off the miss here's Kuzma
09:3220 point lead for Boston
09:34Kuzma
09:35oh got it
09:36packed on the glass by Keita
09:37Pritchard
09:40to Brown
09:41Hauser
09:42wide open
09:45and Turner clears for the box
09:53there's Rollins inside
09:55there's the mismatch
09:57and white fouls
09:58Turner
09:59good awareness by Rollins
10:00to find the more
10:01yeah but that's something
10:02again
10:03I think the game
10:04has evolved closer
10:05to allowing those big players
10:07for those deep post ups
10:08with Giannis
10:09with Jokic
10:10and Bede
10:11you know
10:12Shigun
10:13they're bigger players now
10:14ten years ago
10:15during the
10:16the three point era
10:17if you will
10:18that wasn't something
10:19that was seen very often
10:20well
10:21locked out of bounds
10:22it'll stand that in
10:23Milwaukee basketball
10:24Milwaukee basketball
10:30here's Green
10:31raising up for three
10:33out of bounds
10:35Green trying to
10:36find his rhythm
10:37AJ Green a guy that played
10:38his high school basketball
10:39out of Iowa
10:40in the state of Iowa
10:41interestingly enough
10:42he twice eliminated
10:44brothers Chris Murray
10:45and Keegan Murray
10:47from the state playoffs
10:50I gotta see the rest of those
10:51rosters
10:52okay
10:53shout out
10:54Green
10:55make sure they take that with you
10:56AJ told me he got buckets on him
10:58I know he did
10:59send them home twice
11:00yeah
11:01you get sent home twice
11:02if you have two NBA brothers
11:03shout out AJ Green
11:04although they did play on the same
11:08AAU travel team
11:09now called
11:10Murray Elite
11:11and there's
11:13Richard on the cross
11:14Hauser
11:15steps into the three
11:19Portis battling
11:20Keita
11:21whistling a foul
11:22that's gonna go against
11:23Namias Keita
11:24and that will be the third team foul
11:27against Boston
11:29third team foul
11:30but yeah
11:31this is the battle
11:32that you have to do
11:33if you're Portis
11:34if you're Milwaukee
11:35Keita's on that glass
11:36Walsh is on that glass
11:37Derek White
11:38you gotta put your body
11:40in between them
11:41the basket and the ball
11:45Leading by 18
11:47flat ball screen by Portis
11:49Rollins picked up his dribble
11:52turner walked with it
11:55Rappling violation
11:57Celtics ball
11:58because of the other hand uplifted
12:01Hey!
12:02It is!
12:03Pistol 5!
12:04Tomasulo makes the call
12:05you heard
12:06Pistol 5
12:07tell me what's gonna happen
12:08I have no idea
12:09I have no idea
12:10I have no idea
12:11there's your Pistol 5
12:12Richard
12:13so Pistol action is
12:14the 5 comes up
12:15catches the ball
12:16now the guard
12:17has the opportunity
12:18to come off
12:19or dribble hand off
12:20with the corner
12:21so that's what Pistol 5 is
12:22everybody's got a different Pistol 5
12:24gotcha
12:25well at least we know
12:26what Boston's Pistol 5
12:27well we
12:28Pistol action
12:29Pistol action is that
12:30but you just don't know
12:31what the numbers indicate
12:32Brown
12:33partially blocked
12:34they're gonna call
12:35Golden
12:36it'll come back
12:37the other way
12:38Jalen Brown
12:39heating up here
12:40in the second half
12:41up to 20 points
12:42and 9 rebounds
12:43also I don't know
12:44how much Joe Mazula
12:45will appreciate us
12:46calling out their
12:47their plays
12:48well we could hear them
12:49with the microphone
12:50I mean
12:51and they're like 13 scouts
12:52from other teams
12:53watching too
12:54trying to find out
12:55what those play calls are
12:56I got friends Richard
12:57I'll just say that
12:58I got friends
12:59Kuzma sprays it
13:00to the wing
13:01Cordes from the
13:02comes off to White
13:03Boston in control as we
13:06approach the midway point
13:07of this third quarter
13:10Brown has had a hot head
13:11in this third period
13:14steps through around the world
13:16Kata with the tough catch
13:18Pritchard drives it
13:20inside Kata with the reverse
13:23Jalen Brown
13:25Kata
13:26he's my guy
13:27he's thrown two of the worst
13:28around the backs
13:29that I've ever seen
13:30and they have gotten to
13:31his teammates
13:33so salute to him
13:37there he is on the break
13:38stairs down green
13:40Brown playing with his food
13:42and it tipped away by Kuzma
13:45good defense by the Bucks
13:46Kuzma at the other end
13:48everything but the finish
13:50for the Bucks
13:51Pritchard into the corner
13:55Brown
13:56there's another
13:58how's that behind the back
14:00for you Richard
14:01was that any better
14:02Kata wrestling it loose
14:04from Turner
14:05and the Bucks come up with it
14:06and the first time you talk
14:07trash about it
14:08I'm saying that it's good
14:09look at what happens to
14:10Turner
14:11that's gonna be a foul
14:12against Pritchard
14:13Jalen Brown got those
14:15around the world
14:16times
14:17he's got all the game
14:18we're not questioning that
14:19but again Kata with the finish
14:21their left hand finish
14:22I love this Peyton Pritchard
14:24yes
14:25I think he is more of a game
14:26control guard
14:27he seems as if he's more of a
14:28scorer
14:29but I had an opportunity to call
14:30his games when I worked for the
14:31Pac-12
14:32and he was there at Oregon
14:33doing an outstanding job
14:35so you know he is a game control
14:37guard
14:38really stepped up in terms of his
14:43productivity and embracing his
14:46increased responsibility
14:48in the absence of Jason Tatum
14:50meanwhile
14:52Rollins at the free throw line
14:54you know Giannis Antetokounmpo
14:55said this about his teammate
14:57and I'll paraphrase he said
14:58I've never seen a player's career
15:01go from 0 to 100 the way that
15:04Ryan Rollins has
15:05discarded a couple of times
15:07by a couple of different teams
15:09including the Golden State
15:10Warriors
15:11played in the G League for a
15:12couple of years
15:13and now is a player that is
15:14pretty much indispensable for
15:16Milwaukee
15:17well we call it the G League
15:18but before that it was called
15:19the developmental league
15:20the point was to go there and
15:21develop
15:22as players are coming into the
15:23league
15:24sooner and sooner
15:25they are not getting taught
15:26basketball in college
15:27I had three years of Lute Olsen
15:30you know you look at Draymond
15:31Green had four years of Tom
15:33Izzo
15:34you would get three or four
15:35years of Misha Shesko
15:36now players are coming out
15:37one, two years
15:38the developmental league
15:39now called the G League
15:41is there used to help players
15:43so you might not be ready
15:44today
15:45but if you go there two years
15:46per work
15:47now you will be ready
15:48everybody runs a different
15:49race
15:50Brown
15:51lost his balance
15:52and traveled with it
15:53that was a different race too
15:55yeah
15:56Brown already with an impressive
15:58double-double
15:59twenty points
16:00and ten rebounds
16:01to mention the two different
16:03times
16:04twenty-one point lead
16:09for Boston
16:11Portis with a clean look
16:17Garza battling underneath
16:19against Nance
16:21and Kevin Cutler says that is
16:24against Milwaukee
16:26and an incredulous
16:28Doc Rivers with his palm skyward
16:30can't believe this
16:32oh yeah
16:33that's a hook
16:34I don't know if they're gonna use it
16:35Doc Rivers is waiting
16:36Doc Rivers is pointing out his bench
16:38ah well time is gone
16:41you sit down here
16:45you sit down here
16:46you sit down here
16:47you sit down here
16:48you sit down here
16:49you sit down here
16:50well you got
16:51this is my thing Doc
16:52you down by twenty-one
16:53use that challenge
16:54yeah
16:55got timeouts
16:56got the challenge
16:57under five minutes to go in the third
17:04Garza sprints into the ball screen
17:06Pritchard with the Hesi
17:07on that Nass dribble
17:09out to Walsh for three
17:11Walsh chasing down the rebound
17:15stepped out of bounds though
17:16it'll be Milwaukee basketball
17:18but it's that pursuit to the ball
17:20you had Walsh
17:21and you had Peyton Pritchard
17:23all going after that
17:24loose ball
17:25almost giving it up
17:26another offensive rebound
17:28Rollins guarded by Brown
17:30Trent Jr. sets the screen
17:32they get the switch
17:33unhesitant Trent Jr.
17:35a little bit strong
17:36rebounded by Nance
17:37Rollins with a look
17:39that comes off as well
17:41Portis couldn't corral it out of bounds
17:43and he'll stay at that end
17:44Milwaukee basketball with 419
17:46to go into third quarter
17:47the bunks
17:48shooting percentage plunging
17:50to just 39% right now
17:53yeah but more importantly too
17:54it's that it's that
17:55rebounding battle
17:56that we talked about
17:5732 to 22 in favor of the Celtics
18:05Portis one-on-one against Walsh
18:06gonna try and walk them down
18:08no double team
18:09Trent open for three
18:11boy can't buy one
18:13had a couple clean looks now
18:150 for 3
18:16in downtown
18:17Milwaukee has missed its last
18:21seven consecutive
18:22field goal attempts
18:23timeout on the floor
18:25back to the Pioneers Classic
18:27after this
18:28and welcome back everyone to the NBA
18:35inaugural Pioneer Classic
18:38there's a look at what they're playing for
18:40we'll have a trophy presentation to the winning team after the game
18:44as we honor the first black players in the NBA
18:49Chuck Cooper the first black player drafted here in the Boston Celtics
18:55look at his son family member and that's Sweetwater Clifton
19:00first one to have an NBA contract and
19:02Earl Lloyd the first black player to play in an NBA game
19:06Brown raising up
19:13Rollins
19:19fouled by Walsh
19:24number 27 Jordan Walsh is second
19:28interesting when you think about the Boston Celtics right there
19:31top four right now in the Eastern Conference
19:34Joe Mazzula had something interesting to say
19:39the regular season of playoffs are managed and viewed in different ways
19:44what do you make of what it looks like when the plane lands in the middle of April
19:49for the Celtics and their playoff prospects
19:51well I think they have the opportunity when you have the talent that they have
19:55you have the home crowd and really just you know the energy that the Celtics organization brings
20:02you always have a chance
20:03now as you get a little bit deeper you need all bullets loaded in that gun
20:08if you're going to make a deep run in the postseason
20:10I think for Joe Mazzula they see their team as a team that plays hard every single night
20:16and that gives them an opportunity to win every single night
20:20but sometimes you need talents on top of playing hard
20:24and this is a different roster especially without Jason Taylor
20:27Simon's guarded by Nance
20:29Nance had straps on him that time
20:31got the stop
20:32the fall and oh good by Walsh
20:34and rebounded by Rollins looking to run out
20:41here's Kuzma
20:42tough shot
20:44throws the hit
20:46and they're going to wave it off it looks like
20:52it's going to be sideline out of bounds
20:54or not
20:55terrible
20:56or is it
20:57that sounds fucking terrible
20:59that will be 5,000 Boston
21:02so he shoots two free throws
21:04I think he's part of the search about the end one
21:06I think the kit happened and then the gatherer
21:08but I'm going to say that's a judgment call
21:11Kuzma knocks down the first foul shot a 74% free throw shooter

39:03That's my God
39:04That's my God
39:0693-72
39:08Jackson battling underneath
39:12The rebound goes to Cade and the Celtics
39:15Jalen Brown still in the ball game
39:17Has his starter Derek White
39:18and Rickard
39:19Massimo has all of his starters
39:22In the game
39:23Coaching this thing right down to the wire
39:26You know it's interesting
39:27It's very much like Joe Massimo
39:29Who holds his team to a constant high standard
39:32So much so that once his coaches weren't instructing the players during a drill runs, he made all the coaches run.
39:39And I loved it. When we asked who got last, they said Sam Cassell.
39:45And I felt like that sounded about right.
39:47But that's Joe Pizzoula. Everyone's accountable.
39:50And it starts with him if you see Sam Cassell, who, in my opinion, will be a head coach in the league, hopefully very, very soon.
39:57But Joe Pizzoula holds everyone accountable, starting with him.
40:00Jalen Brown does it on the floor in terms of accountability with his teammates as well.
40:06Knocks down the three. He's got 25.
40:09On three of five from deep.
40:11So, Jonze, you talked about that one's off.
40:13You talked about...
40:15Sorry, just watch the play.
40:19OJ inspired his half or second before we get into it.
40:22Sure. Jackson inside with a jump hook.
40:25Portis battling underneath.
40:28Got a loose ball foul.
40:29That's going to go against Houser.
40:31Now, the point that I was going to make, the point that the little scramble happened there is,
40:36in 90 seconds, 10 points can happen in this game.
40:39Three threes and one.
40:41So, five minutes is a lot of time left, even if you're up by 20.
40:45Because next thing you can know, it can be a 10-point game with three minutes to go.
40:48And that happens all the time in this league.
40:51So, you're up by 20.
40:52You most likely want to keep your guys in there until under three.
40:57That's pretty much the magic mark, I guess, as you state.
41:01Celtics with all five starters in there.
41:03Portis with a little dream shake.
41:04Rebounded by Brown.
41:07Did you just question my information?
41:08Did you just say, I guess that's the magic mark?
41:10No. I'm with you.
41:11I believe everything you say.
41:12Now you're live.
41:13I'm gulloping, man.
41:14Brown inside.
41:17Room service for him.
41:19Jalen Brown.
41:22Talked about the impact that Jalen Brown has had off the basketball court.
41:27He's doing his best to try and narrow the wealth gap in the black community
41:33and the rest of the Boston community here locally and in other parts of the country,
41:38really doing his part with his time and with his resources.
41:42If you ask anybody around the organization,
41:46he takes his leadership and his inspiration from a lot of the pioneers
41:51and the courage that they showed.
41:54And Angel has more.
41:55Yeah, absolutely.
41:56His Juice Foundation and the Boston Exchange,
41:58he is currently, as you mentioned,
42:00involved in creating STEM learning opportunities for underserved youth
42:03and launch initiatives to foster black-owned businesses,
42:06aiming to generate generational wealth in the city.
42:09So, continuing to find ways to give back to the community.
42:12You already mentioned being the youngest speaker at Harvard
42:15and it's absolutely incredible.
42:18Jalen Brown.
42:21That's great.
42:22He's putting his money where his heart is.
42:25Well, and he talked about it even when he got drafted.
42:28One of the criticisms of him when he was first drafted,
42:30his guy to report is that he was too smart.
42:33Which is crazy to me.
42:34Which is crazy.
42:36But he is such an amazing leader.
42:39We look at how he's handled himself as, you know, playing next to Jason Tatum.
42:44All of the conversations that were around them as a parent, as a team.
42:49And I just think he's just done a wonderful job.
42:51When Jason Tatum went out, he showed even more what he's capable of doing as a leader.
42:56And it was never even questioned in the first place.
42:59Right.
43:00Barrett Williams in the ballgame for the Celtics.
43:02The five-man.
43:06White cross-court to Brown.
43:07Catch and shoot three on the way.
43:09Laces the three.
43:11Jalen Brown, again.
43:13Went to Cal.
43:15Took master's classes as a freshman.
43:17So I guess you could say he's educated, melanated, and compensated.
43:23Back after this.
43:25The NBA on ESPN is presented all season long by State Farm.
43:29Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
43:33The inaugural Pioneers Classic.
43:36ESPN with over 45 key black cast members from Los Angeles.
43:41Up in Bristol, all helping to make this day possible.
43:46Get you on and off air.
43:47And here in Boston as well.
43:51Rodney Vaughn, Adam Bryan, our producer, director.
43:55What a great day.
43:57As we celebrate Black History Month.
44:01A whole lot of matcha in those pitches.
44:03Some quarter zips, too.
44:07There's Shireman into the front court.
44:09Approaching three and a half minutes to go.
44:11Boy, what a night Simons has had.
44:15Eight of 16 from the field, four of eight from deep.
44:18And what's crazy, it's been so smooth that you would all go see it.
44:22What did you just say?
44:23I said it's been so smooth.
44:25I didn't think he took 16 shots.
44:27He's taking the second most amount of shots on his team.
44:30But everything has been inflowed in rhythm and just, it's been looking pretty.
44:35Inside, Jericho Sims with a tough layup.
44:38Yeah, Simon's had a great opportunity to reinvent himself after spending his first six-plus years in Portland.
44:46He is the mentee of Damian Lillard.
44:50He spent so many years working out with and a teammate of Damian Lillard and learned a lot.
44:56But it doesn't matter when you get into this league, when you get on a team.
45:02It's about who mentors you.
45:03Who is the person that helps you take the next step?
45:06We had that conversation with Doc.
45:07He said Lenny Wilkins was the individual for him that would answer his call when trying to figure out how to answer some.
45:14He says he can't make that call to Lenny anymore, but now he's the coach that's fielding calls from younger coaches in this league.
45:21And it makes him feel very special.
45:24One of the prominent members of Doc's coaching, of course, is Ty Lowe with the Los Angeles Clippers.
45:31By the way, you'll see them next Sunday on ESPN in Minnesota against the Timberwolves.
45:38And, hey, the Clippers are playing some great basketball.
45:43The Clippers, over the last month, month and a half, have been...
45:46They look like the Clippers that we were expecting early in the season.
45:50Here's Trent Jr. making a little bit of space, but off the mark.
45:54Tanasi Santacumpo couldn't keep it in play and does, but comes to the Celtics.
46:02Ugo Gonzalez from deep.
46:06Walsh with the board.
46:08The Reload with two minutes to go in the game.
46:15Williams with a nice screen for Simons.
46:18Shireman from the logo.
46:21Boston with another opportunity.
46:23Why not, Simons?
46:25Why not?
46:28Threats another three.
46:29It's up to 27.
46:35He has had enough to feed the needy this afternoon.
46:3710 of 18 from the field.
46:42Jackson off the mark.
46:45Out of bounds.
46:46Boston basketball.
46:47So, barring a...
46:48Bigger turnaround than Paul on the road to Damascus.
46:52The Celtics will earn their 31st win of the season.
46:56against 18 losses.
46:57Against 18 losses.
46:59And, again, you talk about it.
47:01Joe Mazzulli, you mentioned it.
47:02His name should be mentioned up there with Coach of the Year for what he's done.
47:07He's been changing over the roster, changing over the roster, missing Jason Tatum all season.
47:12And sometimes when you have guys that understand the culture, and then you get five or six guys out,
47:17bring five or six new guys in, establishing or reestablishing that culture, that is a very, very difficult thing.
47:24And I think Joe Mazzulli has done as well as the coaching job this year, that he has an issue.
47:29Requestion number four, Inferi Simon!
47:32Well said.
47:37Full to Anthony.
47:42Anthony had it knocked loose.
47:43Good defense by Walsh.
47:44Right to Trent Jr. for three.
47:46Jerry Trent Jr. for three.
47:48Jerry Trent Jr. for three.
47:50Shireman quickly into the front court.
47:52Milwaukee, after today, will have lost eight of their last nine.
47:58With that trade deadline looming and all the conversation around Giannis Antetokounmpo.
48:04Thanasis, his brother with the rebounder.
48:07Giannis not with the team here today.
48:11Jericho Sims on the keep to Panasas.
48:18Out to Jackson, tries another three.
48:20Panasas with another four.
48:24Austin Celtics about to improve to 31 and 18.
48:29And the team is up with the team here today.
48:32Jericho Sims on the keep to Panasas.
48:35Out to Jackson, tries another three.
48:38Panasas with another four.
48:4018.
48:41And this first ever chapter of the Pioneers Classic.
48:46Joe Mazula said it was an important day for him.
48:51Because he coached against West Virginia State back in the day.
48:56Collegiately where the Cooper family attended school.
49:01One of the Boston legends.
49:04And one of the first black players in the NBA.
49:09That's your moment.
49:10Celtics win the final.
49:11Boston wins it 107 to 79.
49:13107.
49:14Jalen Brown with a big day.
49:16He had 30 points and 13 rebounds.
49:19And Doc Rivers coached the Celtics through a championship in 2008.
49:25Still with a lot of warm relationships abound here.
49:30Inside and outside the building.
49:32What's your championship coach in Boston?
49:36It's a blind check right?
49:37It's a blind check right?
49:38Well this is the thing.
49:39You're made basically.
49:40Understand this.
49:41You are never a former champion.
49:42Right.
49:43You are just a champion.
49:44Defending champion and champion.
49:45That is what you are called.
49:47Well we have two ABC Saturday NBA games next week.
49:52Loaded with stars.
49:53KD and the Rockets are in OKC taking on Jake Gilgis Alexander and the Thunder at 3 30 Eastern.
49:59Then at 8 30 Eastern.
50:01Luka LeBron and the Lakers.
50:03Oh Stefan the Warriors NBA countdown tips off our coverage at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
50:10Just awaiting the post-game trophies ceremony.
50:15As the Celtics will be awarded the Pioneers Classic trophy that you saw a little bit earlier.
50:24Jalen Brown talking to Bill Russell's daughter.
50:27And again just the Russell family.
50:29Not only what they've meant to Boston but what they've meant to the league.
50:32And to see continued representation has been amazing.
50:35Yes great to see Karen Russell courtside.
50:38Hey let's send it over to Angel Gray who's standing by with family members representing NBA Pioneers.
50:43Chuck Cooper.
50:44Nat Sweetwater Clifton and Earl Lloyd and Jalen Brown.
50:49Thanks Mark.
50:50Well congratulations to Jalen Brown and the Boston Celtics for winning the inaugural NBA Pioneers Classic.
50:55And you get to walk away with some hard will as well.
50:58Yes.
50:59Well not just for you.
51:00It's for the team as well.
51:01You can post that up.
51:02But it's I know it's something that's very special as we continue to honor them today.
51:06So just if you can start there.
51:08What does this game as well as celebrating these Pioneers means to you.
51:11Yeah what an honor.
51:12Today is the first NBA Classic for the Pioneers.
51:14And what an honor to be able to celebrate the legacy of the people that came before.
51:19So I like to use my platform to honor the Pioneers who come next.
51:23So today was a great example of that.
51:25Chuck Cooper the third did mention he said just the importance of passing the torch.
51:31And that was just resounding for all three of them.
51:34For you.
51:35That gives back so much to the community.
51:38How does that continue to fuel you and what you do not just in the community but also in your role here in the NBA.
51:43Being to learn about the past helps you figure out what the future needs.
51:47So I'm building intergenerationally building two worlds together and learning about what the future needs.
51:53So I pride myself on paying respect to the people that came before.
51:58So it's an honor to be here to accept this award.
52:00Thank you so much.
52:01Thank you so much for allowing us to be able to cover you guys and your families in such an amazing way today.
52:06And congratulations.
52:07See you again Jalen.
52:08Thank you.
52:09Thank you.
52:10All right Angel.
52:11What a memorable afternoon of basketball in this the inaugural Pioneers Classic.
52:16And Jalen Brown said it so appropriately.
52:21History holds a lot of the answers for the future.
52:26Cooper.
52:29Clifton and Lloyd honored today.
52:33Thanks for joining in this afternoon folks.
52:36For Richard Jefferson and Angel Gray and so many talented people behind the camera.
52:41You never get a chance to see.
52:43I'm Mark Jones from Boston where the Celtics win it going away 107 to 79.
52:50Hope to see you again next year when we do it all over one more time.
52:55Thanks for watching and so long from Boston coming up next.
52:58It's the point.
