00:00This is Beast City, the multi-million dollar city where contestants live and compete, built for Beast Games Season 2.
00:07I'm going to give you access to everything in the city, everything Beast Games you want.
00:10You want to go in the control room over there? Go in the control room.
00:12You want to talk to the contestants? Talk to the contestants. This is your city. Film whatever you want.
00:16And I heard there are secret rooms here. Good discovery.
00:18There are secret rooms. There's five million dollars.
00:20I'll be honest, I spent close to a hundred dollars on this show, and you can go explore it all.
00:24We got the keys to the castle, and the Beast Game production is split into three massive zones.
00:29The main studio, the soundstage, and Beast City. An entire town built in the forest just for the show.
00:36We are now entering the main Mr. Beast studio. As we can see behind us, Mr. Beast just has piles and piles of money laying everywhere.
00:45Classic Mr. Beast hat. They look like Mr. Beast. They have so many awards here.
00:50He just like collects play buttons for fun, basically.
00:53Surprisingly, this huge studio is mostly used as storage.
00:56Because filming takes place in the soundstage and Beast City.
01:00So let's go see how they film the show.
01:02Behind me is the largest soundstage in all of North America.
01:06Let's go inside because right now, they're filming in there for the first time ever.
01:10We got the contestant right there.
01:12They have so many cameras.
01:14They got wheel barrels full of money.
01:17While touring, I ran into some co-hosts of Beast Game.
01:20Is there anything about this scene that you're excited for, nervous about?
01:24There's a lot of question marks with this scene.
01:26Because technically speaking, this could be the fastest scene of all time.
01:29I mean, this will be a YouTube short instead of an episode of the show.
01:32It'll also be really, really long.
01:33I literally don't know how long I'm going to be here.
01:35I might be here for like 45 minutes or 12 hours or something.
01:38All right, let me just grab the mic.
01:40No.
01:41The crazy thing about Beast Game is that it has to work live as well as an edited show.
01:47They can't mess up anything.
01:48If anything messes up, they might give away the game.
01:51So all this work will be ruined.
01:53Now let's head to Beast City.
01:55And up there is a $5 million prize pool.
01:58And Mr. Beast will be joining me for an exclusive interview at the end.
02:01But let's start at the main hub, the Feastable Cafe.
02:04This is where all the players come to get their daily food and beverages.
02:08And obviously it's stocked with Mr. Beast's Feastables.
02:11We got Lunchly over here and we got some Starbucks.
02:15Everything here is free for as long as you stay in the game.
02:18And the players are sent food in these cabinets so they don't have to interact with the staff.
02:22So they can be fully immersed in the game itself.
02:25Here we have a wall of beef jerky, but I think this is actually a secret door.
02:38This place is Mr. Beast's paradise.
02:40It's all filled with Feastables.
02:42Giant versions of Feastables.
02:44Oh my gosh, this is crazy.
02:46We can totally turn this into one of those stoked twin secret room videos.
02:49And the gym here is insane.
02:52Everything is brand new.
02:54And the contestants will need to work out.
02:55Because the theme of Beast Game Season 2 is 100 of the strongest versus 100 of the smartest people in the world.
03:02Over here is the main gym.
03:04These are like, sportly new dumbbells.
03:06They got bikes.
03:07They got treadmills.
03:09Oh.
03:11I just smell fey money.
03:13They got any machine that you would ever want.
03:16I'm actually kind of jealous of the gym they have.
03:18Like if you were to be stuck anywhere for a month of filming, I would want to be here.
03:22In addition to the gym, they also have a hot tub and a cold punch.
03:27Here is a portal.
03:28It's like the nether portal from Minecraft.
03:30And here we have a close high basketball court.
03:37While filming this show, there's a lot of downtime because most of their filming is done at night.
03:41And during the day, players just hang out and try to find a way to kill time.
03:45Behind me is the dorms that the players sleep in.
03:47And because Mr. Beast gave me full access, we can't go inside.
03:51These are the beds.
03:52The players have bunk beds in a sense.
03:54Each player gets their own mattress.
03:56It's kind of interesting because the people are being watched 24-7.
04:00There's a camera that you're sleeping by right there.
04:03I don't know if I would feel comfortable sleeping here.
04:05We can also go see the upstairs.
04:09All right.
04:11Huh.
04:11I actually kind of like the upstairs more.
04:13It feels a little bit more quiet.
04:15These beds remind me of the boarding school I went to.
04:18Because in boarding school, everyone just had a mattress and they laid side by side.
04:22But you might also develop some hatred towards your team members.
04:26And that's adding spice to the show.
04:29Because if someone starts snoring, you're going to want to hit them.
04:32Everything in this city is designed with the intention of making a good show.
04:37So right now, we're actually walking towards the library and the botanical garden.
04:42It's probably one of the biggest couches I've ever seen.
04:45Ten people could sleep here.
04:46Oh, dude.
04:47Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude, dude.
04:49Dude.
04:49They even have the same puzzle that we did in our puzzle video.
04:53You know how to solve this?
04:54Find out in the puzzle video.
04:55But that's pretty cool.
04:57They got puzzles here.
04:58Connected to the library is the botanical garden.
05:01Dude, this place is lit.
05:02These are like planter lights so the plants can survive.
05:05Oh, this is basil.
05:07Yeah.
05:08These smell nice.
05:11Hmm.
05:12I eat that one.
05:13I think this place is mostly for decoration and nobody has eaten this.
05:17I'm just here ruining this app.
05:19In the middle of the garden, they got a lab.
05:21I feel like I could film my science experiment videos here.
05:24They even got a microscope for me.
05:25Dude, I even bought one of these for my science gadgets video.
05:28It's a perpetual motion machine.
05:30It's kind of cool that they have like model rocket building kits and Legos.
05:34So honestly, this area feels like they took our whole entire channel and just condensed
05:39it into one section.
05:41They got hobbies.
05:42They got robots.
05:42They got science experiments.
05:44This is literally our channel, bro.
05:46And over here is probably one of the only Starbucks that's open 24-7.
05:51And the drinks are completely free.
05:54So let's go order a drink.
05:56Hello, sir.
05:56How are you?
05:57Good, how are you?
05:57I'll just get a iced passion tangle tea.
06:02Oh, and I didn't have to pay.
06:05Put it on Mr. Beast.
06:09The taste of free is always delicious.
06:12So right now they have like a little break going on and you can just see like all the camera
06:17man back there.
06:18This is insane.
06:19We'll actually stop by the control room where we can see the behind the scenes of the camera
06:24operations.
06:25Tariq, you want to be in my video?
06:26Yeah, of course.
06:27What's up, man?
06:27Okay.
06:28You play?
06:28Football?
06:29Yeah.
06:29You mean soccer?
06:30Soccer.
06:31Oh, you say soccer?
06:32Are you British?
06:32Oh my gosh.
06:33No, I'm just, I respect the sport.
06:35I'm just kidding.
06:35Okay, yeah.
06:36What's your role this year?
06:37We're just co-hosting.
06:38Okay.
06:38So basically we interview contestants.
06:40We talk to them like after big events like this.
06:42Okay.
06:42So you're no longer in the camera department?
06:45Not anymore.
06:46Yeah, I've just kind of been co-hosting and like just being in front of the
06:49camera more.
06:50But you see the behind the scenes of the filming of Beast Game.
06:52Oh yeah.
06:53How does that compare to the behind the scenes of filming for YouTubers?
06:56Oh, not even close.
06:57I mean, each one of these cameras is at least $100,000.
07:00And you guys don't film with us?
07:01No.
07:02No, not at all.
07:04Do you know how many cameras you guys are using this year?
07:06I actually, for episode one, I remember I had over 400 cameras.
07:10Wow.
07:11Beast Game season one compared to season two.
07:13What has changed?
07:14I know the biggest difference is you feel like you know the contestants more this year.
07:18I'm a fan of a lot of these guys now because they all had a story.
07:22They all had their struggle.
07:23They all had their conflict.
07:24And I'm like, oh my gosh, like, are they going to make it?
07:26It's something that I'm super excited about for this year.
07:28Right now, we're standing in the sand pit.
07:30The contestants actually did a challenge here.
07:33This set kind of reminds me of Squid Games.
07:35Mr. Beast has taken a lot of inspiration for his Amazon show from the first Squid Game YouTube
07:41video that he did because that was like the biggest production he had done at the time.
07:44You can see the $5 million prize money from every single corner of this city.
07:50It just gives the players a constant reminder of what they're working towards.
07:54We're now entering the control room where we can see everything being filmed.
07:58They have a camera looking at every single corner here.
08:03It's happening.
08:04Someone's about to get eliminated.
08:05We are here with Matt, one of the executive producers of the show.
08:15Okay, I'm always wondering this.
08:16When you are sitting in front of the screens, what are you actually doing?
08:21Good question.
08:23I always thought you were like clicking through different camera angles.
08:26I'm clicking through microphones so I can listen to everyone.
08:29So we make sure we get the close-ups on the people that are giving us the best story at any given time.
08:36Got it.
08:37And how do you get those without disrupting the conversation?
08:41We've got these great big lenses that basically allow us to be way back and crash right into a close-up like this.
08:48And then when we think that the content is super good and we're not going to disrupt the content,
08:52we then have handheld operators who come running in and are able to sit right there right next to them.
08:56So then we also have what we call PTZs or PTZs and they are remote operated from a little room just next to us here.
09:04Got it.
09:05Can we go see that?
09:05Let's go and have a look.
09:06All right, let's go take a look.
09:08So this is what we call our PTZ room.
09:10This is where guys with remote control cameras operate all of the different P cameras which are situated all over the city.
09:18There's a challenge being set up for tomorrow right there.
09:21And if you look very closely.
09:22It's a coffin.
09:23It's a coffin.
09:24We've got three or four cameras mounted within each coffin and that's tomorrow night's challenge.
09:29So these guys will then take control of a bunch of those cameras.
09:32Others are in the dormitory.
09:34Others are down in the grass field.
09:36So ultimately they have complete eyes over the entire city.
09:40Do you have a tier list of the cameras?
09:42Like which one do you prefer over others?
09:44There's actually a great P cam right in the entrance and it can look straight down on people as they walk through.
09:51So you just see their heads and then it can tilt up and see them.
09:54Told you you had to come and see this stuff right?
09:56Exactly.
09:56Yeah.
09:57So this is where we record everything.
10:00So these are all the hard drives.
10:01Six petabytes of storage.
10:03Are you going to use all six petabytes?
10:05It'll be pretty close.
10:06So what's the most difficult part about recording so much footage?
10:10Moving that much data around all at once and keeping up with the fact that you have one show on Monday, another show on Tuesday, another show on Wednesday and you can never stop and you can never fall behind.
10:19We had an electrical storm which took out some of our generators and it took out all of our air conditioning and so that meant that this room was about to overheat.
10:28So we had to stop recording in fear that the servers would shut down.
10:32It's not just a digital problem.
10:34It's like a physical issue that you guys have to deal with.
10:37The amount of things that happen behind the scenes to make these games happen is insane.
10:43It's the work that you don't see that makes it all possible.
10:46We're now heading back to the Feastable Cafe for our exclusive Mr. Beast interview.
10:50So how is filming Beast games different than filming a YouTube video?
10:53Oh, God.
10:54Well, I mean, first off, for a YouTube video, I can't build this city.
10:57I mean, look at it.
10:58But you have a crazy budget.
10:59Yeah, but another thing is YouTube, as you know, you have to revolve a video around a thumbnail.
11:03But whereas here you can do anything and it doesn't matter.
11:05It's just whatever is good content.
11:07That's something I've noticed about streaming shows that are kind of nice.
11:09So you don't have to revolve a video around a thumbnail.
11:11Wow.
11:11So you've completely changed your content approach because normally you're all about the clickbait or like the clickability.
11:19You don't care at all.
11:20It doesn't matter.
11:20You only care about the storytelling.
11:22Exactly.
11:22I couldn't tell you what the thumbnail is for episode 9 and 10 of these games because it doesn't matter.
11:26Were there things you learned from the first season that you applied here in the second season?
11:30Oh, yeah.
11:31The biggest one is there's a little too much randomness in season one.
11:33So it's a little more skill based and we're really going deep on storytelling.
11:37You're getting to know all the contestants.
11:38You're going to know what motivates them, why they're here, what they would do with the money and all that stuff.
11:42I think that's really been a development for you both on YouTube and on the show.
11:46Oh, 100%.
11:46Yeah, I watched my videos for four years ago.
11:48There's no storytelling.
11:48I'll be the first to admit it.
11:49You were just retention hacking.
11:51Exactly.
11:51What was the total budget for this?
11:53Can you say?
11:54And what is the prize pool?
11:56As of right now, it's 5 million.
11:57There are things that contestants could do to potentially make it 10 million.
12:00Wow.
12:00Again, can I donate a dollar so you can break another record?
12:0410 million and one dollar.
12:06Well, to be honest, I'll just take your dollar.
12:08Yeah.
12:09This is a $5 million prize pool.
12:11Is this all real money?
12:12Some of it is.
12:13Not all of it.
12:13You stop doing that.
12:14Yeah, yeah.
12:15The problem is when I have $5 million of real cash on set, I literally have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars protecting it over the course of time.
12:23$5 million is enough where like, you know, if you're a robber, it's worth trying to rob.
12:26You know what I mean?
12:26Yeah.
12:27Are there any innovative tech that you had to do for the city?
12:31Well, if you look over there, you'll see, what is that?
12:33A 60-foot screen.
12:34If I could throw anything I want on it.
12:36The control room we built.
12:37Have you been there?
12:38Yeah.
12:38It's most incredible.
12:39Yeah, the control room is so mind-blowing.
12:40The fact that I have a normal mic on, so I think like 50 people in the control here is right now.
12:45Yeah.
12:45How does that make you feel?
12:46I mean, I feel like I'm just being spied on 24-7.
12:50Same.
12:50I'm averaging like six hours of sleep a night.
12:52I don't even get enough time to sleep.
12:53I'm still filming main channel.
12:54I'm still filming shorts.
12:55I'm still filming TikToks as well as all of Beast Games in 40 days.
12:58It's a lot to manage, man.
13:00But the hard work is worth it because you can now watch Beast Games Season 2 on Prime Video for free
13:05only using my special link in the description below.
