00:00Congratulations tonight, another big win this week, is it the perfect result to start
00:10after the goal?
00:11A bit of momentum for the crucial part of the season?
00:15Yeah of course, we are an industry where it's all about results and I've asked after the
00:20Bournemouth game, or not asked, asked as well to the players but told you as well that we
00:25have to improve in both boxes because in between we do so many things at such a high level,
00:32and in the last two games scoring 10 and only conceding one, I think I can safely say that
00:36that has been a big improvement, so yeah, pleased and happy that we have these two results,
00:44but because of the many points we've dropped we are also aware that this is certainly not
00:51enough.
00:52I guess it's another game where you must be delighted that you managed to sign Hugo
00:56for a bit of a game.
00:57Yeah, but not only him, I think our other signings played a very good game as well.
01:04Everyone should talk about his goals and his actions and how nice this is because this is
01:08where pundits or every fan should talk about because that's much more important than work
01:15great off the ball for them.
01:17For me as a manager, I see throughout the last six, seven months improvement, but lately
01:25a lot of improvement in terms of work rate off the ball, not even work rate but the ability
01:30to keep on going off the ball, especially with Hugo and Florian.
01:35They've improved throughout the last seven or eight months, but now I think everyone can see
01:41that improvement as well.
01:43The better we are of the ball, the more we have the ball, the more they can show how special
01:48they are and all the ones that won the league here are together.
01:53Unfortunately, that took a bit of time because that's how high the intensity levels of the
02:01Premier League are.
02:02Can I just finish by asking about Ibukadante and obviously if you really know what is the
02:06most famous story in your practice?
02:08Yeah, of course you can.
02:10He had a very difficult two weeks and probably still has a difficult time.
02:15But we spoke in the end of last week when he said I'm planning to be back in the end of
02:21this week, so that would have meant that he could not have played this game.
02:24But when he saw all the problems we had defensively, he called me early this week and said I want
02:28to be back to help the team against Newcastle.
02:34He came back Wednesday, trained twice with us and today not only he scored a goal but I think
02:39he played a great game and the fans were really appreciative throughout the whole game.
02:44But definitely at the end when he scored and his teammates were just as appreciative when
02:50he came in in the dressing room after the final whistle.
02:57Richard?
02:58You touched on it a bit there, but the understanding that Hugo, Ekotique and Florian
03:03are building, particularly in the last few weeks, it must be something you're very pleased
03:08with and that goes very well.
03:10Yeah, no, of course.
03:12But I don't think it comes to a surprise to anyone.
03:14Definitely not to me because the more players play together, the more they can find an understanding.
03:20And I've tried to explain why it was difficult for them to play earlier on in the season every
03:25three days a game.
03:28And now they are able to do that because they can keep going.
03:32They can play more often together.
03:33We can play more often with the same team or same combinations.
03:37And as last season has shown, the more you can play together, the better it is.
03:43And I've always said that I would love to play, not love, but I prefer to play as much as
03:48players again with the same XI, but for obvious reasons that wasn't always possible.
03:52But now it's more and more possible.
03:54And then you can also see that connections are getting better and better, not only with
03:59these two, but also with other players.
04:01You said there about teammates showing their appreciation for him, could you give us more of a picture of what
04:12actually happened this after the final, obviously, when he comes?
04:15No.
04:16He and I think Florian had an interview after the game, so then we were all waiting, waiting,
04:21waiting for the last two to come in.
04:23And then when he came in, of course, everybody was cheering for the both of them, but definitely
04:30also for Ibu.
04:34Because it's very nice for him to score a goal when he is in such a difficult time.
04:40And I think this team has shown that we are always there for each other in difficult circumstances.
04:46And that's what they were for him in the last few days.
04:50And that's why I think they were so happy for him that he was able to score.
04:54Which was told to me, but I'm not sure if I'm lying, but his first goal at Anfield since he's here,
04:59that's what people told me, but I don't know if that's true.
05:02Paul-Juice?
05:03You've come from behind to win a league game for the first time since a top-end match and won the title.
05:11How important is that to Stamke? How old are you the team breaking that barrier?
05:15What a bad statistic is that? I wasn't even aware of it.
05:23You're talking about home games or home and the wing games?
05:26It's the first time that we go behind after the Tottenham game and that we win a game of football?
05:31Yeah, in the league.
05:32Oh, in the league. Okay, but still, that's a long time ago.
05:36I think so many times we've come back from going behind and so many times we've showed mentality,
05:42but unfortunately, like last week, we conceded in the end.
05:46So I think not only coming back from and winning it, I think it's the whole way we won it,
05:52the way we defended in our box, the desire we had to attack the other box.
05:56Because we had a very tough first half-hour, but after that first hour we could have scored more goals than...
06:06It took quite a long time, let's put it that way, before we scored the third.
06:09We had a lot of opportunities to score it earlier.
06:12But we just kept on fighting, there was a great combination between the fans and the players.
06:17And, yeah, I think that is indeed important to come back from behind,
06:22but I think it's even more important the way we played in both boxes.
06:27Do a couple more. Beth and Luz.
06:29I've only spoken about what Hugo has brought on the pitch for you as well.
06:33There's a video this week of him on the training ground and with all of the canteen staff,
06:37but you've spoken before about how well-liked he is at the training ground.
06:42Just tell us a bit about his character, because he seems like a real character.
06:46Yeah, funny, happy, always brings nice energy to the training ground.
06:55But also to the stadium, because the fans love him as well.
06:59From the start he's here, I think everybody can see how special he is, how fast he is.
07:08That was probably seen the best in the second goal he scored.
07:13He took a 1v1 and went on the outside, which is very, very difficult in modern football to beat someone around,
07:21because usually players go to the inside and have a shot with the right, but there you can see his pace.
07:27But again, I would love to mention the fact that he probably didn't even improve that much on the ball,
07:34because he was special from the start, but his biggest improvement is his work rate off the ball.
07:40And that is so helpful and necessary for any team, let alone for a team that wants to press throughout 95 minutes.
07:49Lewis, last one.
07:50A little bit of a talk yesterday about Inter Milan and Curtis Jones.
07:53I presume you don't want anyone leaving within the next two days before the deadline,
07:58certainly senior players?
07:59Yeah, I think there's always a lot of talks about Liverpool and a lot of talks about Liverpool players.
08:04There was a lot of noise around the club in the last week, maybe I should say weeks,
08:09but I think our fans showed today what noise really means, that's being loud, because they were so helpful today.
08:15So that is what noise here is in Liverpool.
08:19I think we are trying to strengthen the squad and not trying to weaken it.
08:24But yeah, 48 hours or 72, I don't know how long to go, so let's see where the window ends up.
